Great and beautiful built... I use the same kind of case but smaller and have a similar transformer. Yours shines quality.... I base my built on 500wpc SDS-470 from Class D Audio.
Hey Z, I picked up a pair of these to power my four Domus Omni speakers (if you know what those are? If not, uh. 12" woofer + 2x 1" tweets, 3" mid, omnidirectional 90lbs) - anyway, the questions being: Do I need an actual pre-amp? Or can I run my E10K to them directly (via the coaxial out on the E10K -> RCA - > spliters -> 2x A500 amps?
Does the Behringer Ucontrol DAC boost the RCA line up to 1.25v for pro audio equipment like the A500 your using. With out boosting the line voltage it won't get very loud...
Hi Zeos, thanks for your videos! In your opinion is it safe to use just 1 channel of this amp and leave the other unconnected? I know this can be configured as bridged, but just with 8-ohm impedance load..
Hi there, I am really enjoying watching all your videos. :) I didn't hear you say too much about this amp's sound quality. How does it compare to your Pioneer D1s for instance? I saw you were running the A500 through the Fluance SX6's which I was very impressed with BTW (I'm buying a pair of my own soon because of your review). If you could type out a quick blurb about your opinion on the A500's sound quality and how it might compare to other stuff you are familiar with, that would be greatly appreciated. Cheers. :)
I haven't found a speaker the A500 couldn't drive to its full potential and cleanly. There were some things years ago that stated for complete linearity you needed to run the A500 at full gain and control the input. I have tried this with the XDA-2 dac's pre amp and didn't notice any audible difference. The D1S is just a monster. I am sure in a blind test I couldn't tell the two apart but I would want the D1s to be my amp just because of the 0.003% THD figures.
What is the purpose of two separate volume knobs? Is this a "feature" or does it have to be built like this as per the nature of a power amp? I'm confused because I see some power amps with only one knob, or no knobs and the preamp does the control?
Z Reviews Ahh okay, that makes sense. I believe you mentioned in the review but is it clear/easy to get each knob in the same position? I couldn't stand having to manually adjust each one if it was hard to get them both at the same level!
Is there a good cheap processor you recommend instead of a receiver? I don't want to color the sound at all with a receiver, but still want digital signals to be received out of a TV/PS3/AppleTV. Way to do it with an hdmi switcher of sorts?
Дмитрий Щедрин You can use this amp but you would need an adjustable pre-amp for sure. Something like this [amzn.to/1LPtpoT] with a built in phono pre and main volume control.
Z Reviews Thanks for a quick answer. Do you recommend buying an additional preamp with volume control as a means of more convenient way to control volume? I mean I do have a preamp connected to my turntable and to an integrated amp.
Well you asked about this A500 amp. I would not try to use this A500 without a pre-amp. The front knobs are more for line level compensation vs a gain control.
FYI for everyone, you cant just plug a consumer CD player or PC into a pro amp through the line in RCA and be done. You need something to boost the RCA line like a ART CleanBox or possibly this Behringer Ucontrol.
Have you tried any of the crown XLS power amps. You can get the XLS 1002 for around the same price. It has more power, an active high or low pass crossover, variable input gain of (.776/1.4) and class D weight and efficiency.
Review the new A800 power amp, thanks.

should you connect it in pre out to the denon avr 2809 to listen to klipsch speakers in ht?
Bench amp is right certainly not a show amp lol. We all have our preferences ;-) I prefer Crown XTI for small-medium shows.
You are recomended this amp for Paradimg Atom SE this speaker specs 8 ohms 86sensitive DB
Hello again love your vids.Im using some proac studio 110s with a topping tp 6 which I do like.Would this in your opinion better the tp 60 .Thanks .
Scary that thing looks like a monster for 6 foot tall speakers
Z!!!! Eight years ago? When did you start bro?
Do you suggest this used with Klipsch rp150m or monitor audio bronze 2 for 50/50 movie/music use?
RP150m are pretty easy. Most 20-50wpc amps can do it. [redd.it/66ylk9]

the impedance of a speaker isn't linear so you could probably get away with bridge mono anyway

What's the sound quality like with some decent speakers?
What is the purpose of two separate volume knobs? Is this a "feature" or does it have to be built like this as per the nature of a power amp? I'm confused because I see some power amps with only one knob, or no knobs and the preamp does the control?
It is just for line level inputs. Since both sides are separate inside they just include two knobs.

hmm is the LineOut of the Fiio10 a good Spurce for the 500´?
(You can get it for 170 new in Germany)
Yes it will work but you really want to use a pre-amp otherwise you need to control the output digitally.
Is there a good cheap processor you recommend instead of a receiver? I don't want to color the sound at all with a receiver, but still want digital signals to be received out of a TV/PS3/AppleTV. Way to do it with an hdmi switcher of sorts?
Stereo you can just get a dac with SPDIF input. If you want HDMI input and surround sound there are only a few options. I got the Emotiva M700
Thx
How would this amp compare to the emotiva a300? noticeable sound profile difference?
R W Shouldn’t be much difference other than price. Clean power is clean power.
Would you recommend the a500 for a Hi-Fi setup with a turntable as a main signal source?

i know this is old I'm an updated fan lol how was this map I can get for 100 bucks u.s.

+1 I might in the future.
but is good or not?
That pioneer spec 2 is 300wpc in 8 ohms so no shit its got huge caps and a giant tortial
whats you favorite song Z. or anyone else that wants to answer.
Too many to consider any a favorite. BUT I think Overseer - Heligoland one of the most beautiful songs.
how's that amp holding up
I have two, never failed, never get really warm. But I only use them intermittently.
Z Reviews so what you think about the behringer EP2000
If it weighs a lot you wouldn't be swinging it around like that
A lot of talk, little info. Toroidal transformer is the best.
You should make more videos about real amplifiers as opposed to cheap chinese crap.
Behringer amps are junk garbage dont waste your money.
150usd in Vietnam
You think it's possible to controll the volume installing an SMSL M3 as pre?
The M3 is full line out. You would need an origen+ which is a pre-out.
Grazie :D
