I feel very proud, and humbled that my home, the Canadian Maritimes, was the first for Cruise port safety. I know sometimes when we get three and four cruise ships in at a time in the summer and fall months, there are almost more cruise passengers than people who are working /living in the uptown Saint John area. We really do need and want the business that our port provides, and are happy to see the cruise ships arrive.

We took a cruise to Bermuda a couple of years ago and, instead of going on any of the planned excursions, we just got a bus/ferry pass. We were able to get all over the island very inexpensively and felt completely safe the entire time.

Bruce, I saw your yesterday on here about the most unsafe islands to visit and now I watched the safest ones. Believe it or not, I am booked for April to go on a cruise that hits 3 of the unsafe places. I really appreciated finding you on here. I am a woman who loves to go on cruises but now must do it by myself. I think I know I am pretty safe on the ship, but always skeptical about the ports, so this is a help. I know when and when not to disembark. I did not realize when booking that some of the places I am heading to do not even take US currency. My travel agent never mentioned that. Truthfully, I go for the ship more than the islands, because Bermuda is my favorite place to go, but none of the cruises stay long enough for me. HA HA! From the time I was in my early 30's to now, I have been there 30 something times, I lost count. Last year was my ultimate trip, because I rented a little loft cottage and stayed for 6 weeks. I have made friends with many people on the island and it is like going home. Being retired, alone and on a fixed income, that won't happen again, but I had to do it once so I could feel like I lived there for 6 weeks. Unfortunately, I am no longer comfortable with flying alone, having to get connecting flights, and my last two experiences with flying was a bit more than I could handle. Happy travels to you and thanks for all the neat things you write.

Joyce I also seen the 10 worst islands and I have to disagree with him on Nassau we have been going there for the last 20 years I’ve have been all around the island we have never ever had a problem with any the people as a matter of fact they have always went out of their way to help us .l don’t know where he got that information but I have question it’s not the island that my and I enjoy every year and can’t wait to return

I agree with New Zealand, I come from there and have taken a cruise from Australia across the Tasman Sea to Milford Sound, etc. than up the east coast of both islands then back to Sydney. Australia is also a safe destination. Cruising to the Pacific islands is very enjoyable too, however you have to be aware of your surroundings and not be naive. You mentioned private islands, they sound enjoyable but somehow sort of boring!

I think you meant to say the islands of the British Isles as the British Isles also include the mainland countries including England, Scotland, Wales, The Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. The Channel Islands of Jersey and Guernsey are technically not the British Isles as they are off the coast of France and are crown dependencies of the UK. Our geography is complicated! However, the islands around the UK are a great place to visit, especially the Isles of Scilly which have some of the most beautiful beaches in the world and cruise ships do stop there.

Hi Victor! Well you could always take a repositioning cruise over to Southampton or Copenhagen from Florida, but yes you would get over there first and then sail from Hamburg, Amsterdam, Southampton, Copenhagen. The good news is that flights over to Europe are getting cheaper with the new carriers come on line. So you can do a week in B&B's first, travel by rail card and then hit the ship... Lots of potential....

@@lauraz2896 The migrant ghettos like Rinkeby in Stockholm and Rosengård in Malmö have extremely high crime rates and are no-go zones for tourists, but they are so far from the "beaten path" that they are impossible to reach by accident.

My partner and I cruised to St Kitts last year on RCCL Freedom of the Seas. We found out the hard way that they hate the LGBTQ community. It’s against the law there and we were singled out on an excursion we booked with RCCL. We were pointed at, stared down and even approached and asked if we were brothers. We were terrified. We contacted our concierge and within an hour we were refunded the entire cost of the excursion. It’s really important that you do your research if you’re LGBTQ.

You didn't mention a Caribbean island other then Grand Cayman. And as far as Grand Cayman goes they don't give a flying $@#& about tourists my friend. They have places to go and things to see for the tourists but that country is all about the banks.. Talk about St Martin or Barbados. That's where you will discover the history of the Caribbean. Not on some island that Disney built.. LMAO

it seems to me that your knowledge about the world is limited.Obviously you have never been to places like Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha, Muskat. In these places a woman can walk alone in any part of the city at any time of the day or night

Canadian cruises must be awesome. We have cruise ships that come into our port of Corner Brook, Newfoundland. The scenery here is some of the most beautiful I have ever seen. The summer and fall seasons are very busy. I would love to cruise eastern Canada especially my hometown...

Rich countries with enough money to pay for the promotion will always wind up on the list, while poorer countries with not much money to pay for the promotion will end up on the worst ports lists. This commentator must be pocketing huge sums of money to praise one country over the next.

Or maybe it's about crime rates and overall safety situation in the country.
Or are you trying to argue that Haiti is just as safe as New Zealand?
