    Would the flex paste also be a good product to use for non snow scenes to give the ground some texture, and assuming it's paintable right? thanks, -Ken

      absolutely it can be used for any scenery. you can even mix it with paint if you want. there are also acrylic textures available from companies like AK Interactive if you don't want to mix your own.

    The white coloring with the paste is a common problem with white paints but a drop or two of black and that will gray out the blue and give a more milky white color......

    Great job ! I have thought about making a small Christmas layout. Know i have some good tips on making snow and ice. But this idea is down the road. The area looks great. The trains look good running threw. Thanks for sharing. Have a good day.

      Give it a shot; I've found the winter scenes are the most fun to make. Static grass gets boring after awhile!

    Hi "C"... I have been enjoying your videos for a while. I hope you will forgive me for this but your comment about gas prices kind of opened the door. I any case I would fully understand if you choose to delete this to keep your comments strictly rail road related.
    Gas prices are a trivial issue in comparison. I hope everyone will really try to understand the truth of our country these days. Not just from the pre digested talking head feed. Really read the indictments and fact check at honorable sources. And understand what your vote means to our democracy. However you find on this put the same party in the house, senate, and white house so they can get something done.
    Now downstairs to run my trains!

      Glad you're enjoying the videos. We do not have a democracy, we have a representative republic. I do not want to fight for democracy, i don't want a democracy and neither did our founding fathers and for good reason. Though not really related to gas prices, the indictments are a waste of time and effort, especially the latest. But don't take my word, A. Dershowitz already fact checked them and I respect his opinion very much - even though we don't always agree. But I do like affordable energy from the homeland, reasonably priced food, low inflation, a growing and stable economy, and no supply chain issues which continue to plague not only my industry but also the modeling industry.
      And with that, on to the trains!

    Nice vid. Great set of techniques to create winter scenery.
    I'm concerned about the need for abrasives to clean the tracks. Do you think it's practical to try to wipe the rails clean while everything is still wet?

    • @AlleghenyNorthern
      @AlleghenyNorthern  Год назад

      Wiping the rails while everything is wet runs a very real risk of damaging the scenery. it's better to wait and use the abrasives sparingly.

      Celebrate the victories and learn from the failures. Lots of things go wrong and most of us try not to do it on camera!

    Great scenery..looks awesome….you thought of adding snow to the top of any rolling stock?

    • @AlleghenyNorthern
      @AlleghenyNorthern  Год назад +1

      As a matter of fact, yes. But it's tricky. Since the entire layout isn't winter, i'd do it only for pictures. I might practice on a couple old models and see if it works but i'm afraid to keep it removable is going to make it less believable. Basically, I want to make super thin snow sheets, like I did for the snow plow snow curling on the blade, and attach it with removable adhesive - but i don't know yet. stay tuned.
