You know how you sometimes remember a game or show that you played or watched as a kid but you don't remember the name. And you search for it on the net but since you don't know the title and since it's so obscure and old you can't find anything. That's Descent for me.
When I saw they were making this, I was all in without knowing anything. After being a complete Descent freak as a kid I knew it would be good. It wasn't. It was fucking awesome. Everything that was great about the original, but so much more. Smoother, cleaner, humongous levels. The whole ball of wax. For me, very few games can top Descent in terms of actually having to pay attention while you're mindlessly blasting away at things. And the satisfaction when one of those mining robots explodes is always such a great feeling. And it really is damn difficult if you are on anything but easy.
Descent was the first game I played a ton of online....Was a great game.... Also bought a HOTAS Thrustmster to play it....Will check it out on your Recommendation.... After that EPIC Terraria Review.... lol That one still makes me smile.....
Distinct lack of mention of Sub Level Zero as a "vomit inducing" VR title. It's a bit simpler than this graphically, but essentially roguelike Descent in VR. It's less feature heavy, but you only get one life per playthrough and the levels change every time you play, and it also has a nice upgrade system and a decent selection of weapons. If you enjoyed this as much as the video makes it seem you did, you seriously need to check that game out if you haven't yet. I'd say Overload is better, but Sub Level Zero is a can't miss title for old school Descent fans as well.
Overload has sat on my steam list for a few years. I have played Descent 1 all the way through once in college in the early 2010s, Descent 2 multiple times since I was a kid. Descent 3, probably just once and that is only because Descent 3s controls are buggy on modern machines sadly. Opening overload was a like a pleasant step into the past. The moment I opened the tutorial level, I knew "that was what was missing from my life". Missing from my life in games of course... I really wish The Genre really took off more, but at the same time maybe its good that it did not simply because every other game genre was eventually butchered with repetitive and mediocre games.,

I just found my old Descent CDs and installed them on my Win7 machine with DXX Rebirth. Talk about memories...
Lmfao try Eternam. It's a game I found on one of those demo CD that had a bunch of games in it. Nobody talks about Eternam lol.
Your narrating and comedy style is exactly the same as Jerry Seinfield's. Watch an Intro from "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee", it's uncanny.
