I found the great 10,000 mAh 18W PD power banks while shopping for something else at Office Depot the other day. They are by a company called Nimble. I ended up getting three due to the size and PD option. Thanks for all the helpful videos - it's made anything with my GH6 easier to find answers for.
Two years later....I bought an Inui powerbank, 27500mah capacity, this has a screen informing the user how long the battery will last powering the camera. For tripod work I bought several items off Aliexpress to make a useful battery holder...a superclamp for the tripod leg, a V Mount adapter set and an L bracket. The L bracket takes the battery and a bongo tie secures it.
Yeah, that looks like a decent power bank. I love creating a contraption from camera bits 🙂 I quite often use Bongo Ties to strap stuff onto my camera rig or secure it.
Hello, thank you for this video! Small question however: if the voltage of the battery to be recharged is more important than the voltage of the powerbank, can we still use this powerbank? In this case the powerbank you offer has 5v and the Panasonic DMW-BLK22E batteries have a voltage of 7.2v. Thank you in advance for the answer!
Hi, no problem. You need a power bank with a USB PD port capable of 9V 3A power delivery if you want the battery to be charged whilst the camera is on. If your power bank can't deliver that, you will be able to charge it while the camera is off. The camera regulates the power going into the port to the battery.
@@stevelitton OK thanks for the answer. However, I just saw that the default power supply of the device provides 5v while the battery is on 7.2v, I guess there is a transformer in the device to adjust. But know that the battery recharges well despite the fact that the power is at 5v and the device is on obs. So, is it really necessary to have 9v 3A on a powerbank?

Oh sorry, I finally understand what you mean. You are plugging in the charger supplied with the camera. This does work but it's not giving it the same level of charge while the camera is on. When you have the camera switched on and connect the charger the camera will tell you to switch it off to charge it (this won't happen with a 9v 3a power bank,). It does offer a form of trickle charge though, similar to less powerful power banks. Hope that helps.

Yes, it's perfect for creating timelapses. It is quite a heavy power bank though, so if you are mounting it on to something like a gear driven slider you might want to give it a balance and strength test before leaving it to capture the timelapse.
Hi, yes that is a fair point. I omitted that from the video because it is 'on' by default in the factory settings. It is only really configurable to switch 'off' to attach 3rd party devices like printers.
The powerbank thing is absolute nonsense to be honest, because what happens when they add ssd recording? Panasonic got rid of the battery grip because people weren't buying their overpriced one, but plenty of us bought a 3rd party one. Nothing I'd hate more than a load of crap sticking out of my camera. Other than maybe the PowerCore 5000 there's no practical way to mount them without upsetting the balance which for me is a massive deal!
I have a dummy battery that goes out to my powerbank via USB C. So for me it's still available when SSD becomes available and offers better battery life than the stock battery. I think it is probably more just to do with the fact its not aimed at photographers but I still liked to have the option on the GH5. You are 100% right about the price though I have a 3rd party grip 🙂 I guess we will see for certain when the new G line camera comes out. Isn't the 5000 just a phone charger that wouldn't supply enough power to charge the camera though? Once SSD recording comes to the camera you will end up with additional cables and drives mounted around the camera anyway if you want to use it, I will just mount the SSD under my power bank. I mostly just use the power bank when I can't plug in the AC10 and it is set up on a tripod and I don't think I wouldn't be shooting an event locked off in ProRes ever.
@@stevelitton The 5000 is one of their recommended battery packs, but I’ve gone with a couple of 512GB angle birds for storage to hopefully avoid needing an ssd, but I’d love a proper low profile power solution because this camera needs it.

@@stevelitton Thank you!
You did not say.necessarily in the menu Settings/ USB/ USB power supply ON !!!!!!
@@candyartstv Oh yeah, so it is. I didn't think that would have the power capabilities at a glance, I use mine to charge my Macbook too but that looks like a neat option. Yeah, although it was a bit low-tech, I really liked the Power Junkie, I asked them if they would do a dummy battery and it sounds like they have something else in the works for late summer. I will make do for the time being, anything I use has to either be lightweight or have multiple uses.
I am sorry to say that I agree!
2023 and none of the powerbanks are sold.
I'm not following, what do you mean?
