    Really enjoyed this video, thank you, and I absolutely agree with everything you mentioned. I’ve made quite a few videos of different places in Italy on my RUclips channel and I always try to show a non touristic, local POV, with all of Italy’s messiness and chaos, that’s the true beauty and magic of Italy, the small details, the people, and the daily rituals of the Italians!! 🙌🙌❤❤

    You made so many good points that apply to travelling to another country in general. We travel for the experiences and that’s what makes the best memories. Thank you.

    Yes totally agree let your vacation unfold organically why be tied down to a schedule. Seems more like work to me. Expect to be bored at 3pm it's time to relax.

    Hello Claire, being of Italian descent and deeply immersed in Italian history and culture I can perfectly understand your excellent observations. You are spot on. However, many of your tips will be lost on the numbskulls who travel with their eyes closed. I have met many people who believe they know the culture or customs of the country they have visited but their "knowledge" is based on stereotypes which they never bothered to challenge or tried to understand (there is ALWAYS some truth behind the stereotypes). Have a lovely Sunday! 😍😁😍

    Claire, this is your best video ever. Thank you for your words. You perfectly describe the italian attitude to support the turists. We would like to provide turists with the best suggestion/experience possible. We are happy if they are happy too. Of course procedures and burocracy sometime are crazy here, idiots and rude people are present un Italy as well as in other counties. But, even if we criticize the country, same time we are proud of it. Thank you again for these words

    Hi! Beautiful thoughts in this video! Now just 2 months before I go! Still messing with "phone how-to's" ...my goal is to just BE there. I want to visit the grave of my wonderful great uncle...he has had no visitors since he died decades ago; I want to see his and my grandfather's childhood home; I want to see the town where by great grandfather on my other side was born. I could go to Palermo via ferry but the last 30 miles to the little town where my grandfather on my father's side comes from is hard to get to and no one answers inquiries. But I know they are there and one looks exactly like my family here. It's about FEELINGS this time, not big tourist places. I think I will be having some good cries.....already getting emotional at the thought! I'm going HOME!!!

    I travel to Palermo every year to watch I Rosanero in November. (101 to the Renzo Barbera)
    Yes, it's not as clean as Lisbon - but more character....... Forza Palermo. ❤

    We planning our first trip from South Africa, as older fit 60yr olds, but want to swim in warm waters, and hike Path of the Gods. We wont hire a car but would consider a taxi? Prefer low key affordable accomodation with easy reach of boat tours (recommended Blue Star). Searching TripAdvisor but not sure distance between towns? Hoping boats tours able to go to Minori to fetch/drop? Suggestions?

    • @MsBritaly
      @MsBritaly  Месяц назад +1

      Ok so firstly it all depends on when you plan to visit. If it’s in the height of Summer I do not recommend the Path of Gods. In terms of taxi hire - it can be expensive. I recommend Salerno as a base for your holiday as it’s less expensive, compared to its Amalfi coastal neighbours. Travelmar is a great boat taxi service - from Salerno it covers the majority of the Amalfi coastal towns and beyond.

    Many a true word spoken! I've visited Italy on three occasions and found the people to be so warm-hearted, especially when U tried to speak my school italian that I learned 50 years ago and haven't completely forgotten. I even sang a bit of Gigliola Cinquetti's "non ho l'eta" in a shop once and the shopkeepers almost kissed me!😊 I only once experienced negativity the whole time from a female bus conductor - I got the impression it was because I'm a woman. Or are italian women generally hostile to foreign women? Even older ones? Would love to hear your opinion!

    • @MsBritaly
      @MsBritaly  Месяц назад

      I’m pleased that on the most part, you’ve had a good experience here. I’ve never found Italian women in particular to be hostile, but to be fair you can find impolite people everywhere!

    Hai descritto questo paese in maniera accurata e intelligente, probabilmente lo hai compreso meglio di molti italiani… personalmente ritengo che il turismo quando diventa di massa, quando è eccessivo porti più danni che benefici fino a diventare alla lunga insostenibile sia dal punto di vista dell’impatto ambientale che sociale! credo che allontanarsi dall’idea che l’Italia sia quella descritta dalle guide turistiche sia l’approccio migliore per chi vuole realmente conoscere questo paese con tutti i suoi pregi e tutti i suoi difetti! Ps… mi piacciono molto i tuoi video, continua così!

    As a tourist (not only in Italy), do not keep your money, documents, credit cards and keys together. Be careful with your phone, bags and purses, especially in busy places.
