I understand trading may get you what you want and can be objectively better, but applying books from a sword enchanted at a table can save on XP cost by some as the cost for combining starts going up the moment you start applying extra enchantments to a sword So to get a head start would help. Doing it like you did will mean you have to do things in a specific order (hence the higher cost of levels) tl;dr: Enchantment tables aren't that bad, but they are kind of bad. Just not bad enough
