Day three of Sick Week 2024 Presented by Gear Vendors Overdrive saw Jeff Lutz the quickest once again, but Brett LaSala still has the overall lead. Can the Street Outlaws champ regain the lead or will the issues with his engine prove too much?
Nothings no more badass than honing clyinders and rebuilding the motor in the pits in your street driven pro mod. Lutz is a racer 1000%

We blew a head gasket on our Limited Modified Dirt Track car during our heat race several years ago, at a track over a hundred and fifty miles from home. Our setup was great and we wanted to race the next day. I suggested we go back to our hotel parking lot and replace it there. Everybody was glad that I had insisted that the tools on the race car trailer NOT be used in the shop. One guy headed to a parts store for gaskets and other supplies. Just before we started pulling the intake manifold, a fellow driver told us to come to his shop about 10 miles away and work on the car there. Talk about being happy for great people like that. We were even able to get showers, sleep, eat and get back to the track the following day. We didn’t win, finished third if I remember correctly, but like Lutz, real racers do whatever it takes!

I was there Wednesday and Lutz was busting his a** working on his car in the pits. No TV star Primadona, hard work and a genuine good guy - much props !
He is a hard worker and yes he is a TV star did you not realize that you can be both😂😂
And by tues evening he was ready to pull the plug 🔌 lecture he wasn't going to run 5s all week lol. Expectations vs reality. LoL. And as of wed morning a street car is in fist place . Npk cars and promods are not street cars. 😅

Lutz is the man, met him at SEMA last year and he was such a cool dude. It’s awesome that he still uses an OG big block Chevy in his cars and not a hemi or ls based engine like everyone else.

Running a 6.29 on a stock block 302 sleeved coyote with stock gt350 heads stock crank all stock timing chains, guides ect. Thats amazing

Tom has built a really impressive situation with Sick the Mag, Sick Week and Summer etc. No idea what he did before he started winning Drag n Drive events, but he certainly does a good job of promoting himself and especially the sport...

I believe he is lifting at the end of the car is capable of more but due to license and cage cannot go faster than a 10.00

Likely not, but for the cost of a junkyard coyote you can buy a dart block LS. I think the record currently is like 7.16 but that's on stock shortblock. There's stock blocks running 4.2's in the 1/8th though,
That Durango needs either a lot more anti-squat via bar angle, or way higher rear ride height and front up-travel with softer damping.

When i moved to Florida in 83 I raced at the Gainesville raceway , I won " king of the track" and " king of the hill" titles in the early 2000's . Its a awesome track ,I enjoyed this video. Brings back memories

You can't blame all your attraction issues on wheelbase there's a hurst running 8.00's which is 2 feet longer, by Friday you'll get it figured out...

crazy story for y'all about him, this story seems very unbelievable but it has been on my mind for years now. my mom was married to a guy who i saw as a stepdad for years and he told me a story about how his biological dad wanted nothing to do with him because his mom and him were very young and he basically disowned my stepdad, his biological father supposedly being jeff lutz, my stepdad told me this story alot and how jeff never once reached out and helped him knowing that that was his first son, sad story but its a truth that no one knows except me 🤷🏻♀️

Just don't think the Mickeys are were its at yet. Seen in another video of a racer switching back to Hoosiers and solved 90% of the problems he was having on the hit and down track. Respect to all those competing and grinding it out.

Is it me, but it looks like Tom's car's suspension looks like it's doing nothing on the hit ? They keep messing with the tune. Maybe it's just suspension issues. Idk.

You are correct. It acts like it is running out of shock or something. Tune up is not helping.
To be fair it’s really hard to see what his suspension is or isn’t doing with that bumper. It does seem like it’s no releasing fully, but it’s hard to tell on video. Would be nice to see a go pro underneath it
I noticed that as well. It looks like the axle is hard mounted to the frame rail.

To test everybodys computer skills, tire skills, barometric pressure skills I would love to see drag racing in the north where its 45 - 50 degrees outside. No not -15 below like MN just cold enough to mess with tire grip, air pressure and everything else.

@sickthemag you said the front shocks are full loose. Is the jounce (compression) set to not allow the front to come down too quickly, keeping weight transfer toward the rear? Are the rear shocks rebound setting set to rebound slowly?

Disappointed with the diameter problem on the MT tires.
Never even crossed my mind considering MTs reputation.
It's comparable to getting a bad cam from Isky. Almost unheard of.

They was in the middle of no where and had to pull over in the middle of traffic 😂 . Help me figure that out. A promod on street 🤔. I am all factory chassis front to back all steel all glass. The only thing that has been done is a simple 8 point cage and 4 link and tubular upper and lower A arms .Stock rear end 12 bolt. I still got a back seat. 10.5 no was. 496 big block on methanol. My 74 Nova SS IS A REAL STREET CAR. Oops don't let me forget the twin turbos. I'm not claiming to be fast or even a bad ass and I don't have a sponsor or backer nor do I own my own business. Don't have a beef with Lutz I just can't stand what they have done bringing a promod to the street and calling it street. Jeff did not call his a street car HOW EVER others what to hang body panels on a promod and clam They a "street car". How the hell does anyone like me compete against that let's not forget about the mountain motor they have under the fiber glass nose clip. it's not easy at all by no means. I'm just a guy that doesn't have much time left do to health that just trying to finish a dream. It's no fun to watch the other lane walk away like you are tied to a stump every pass dammn. Best of luck to all the Tinny Tim car guys like me. Is there any room for the small guy anymore I would like to know

Get the suspension and tire issues figured out and I think you guys will have a nasty Durango. It sounds mean during the burnouts and the launch.
We live aprox an hr southwest of Lutz Racecars. Been watching Jeff Lutz for a Long LONG time!! The very 1st time he was on S.O. and wasn't even on the show. He was just in the background. As soon as I seen him, I was screaming "There's Fckn Jeff Lutz" It's Lutz !! That's a racing Mofo right there !! And a Grinder !! Thru the Timing Chain, fckd up some other stuff...
