Frankly I thought this would garner some more attention for the Battleblock nostalgia. But yeah, there is NO Battleblock nostalgia. Nobody remembers it quite as much as Castle Crashers. That's odd.
@@Velovetre I do, as kid I remember how silly, serious and the story was! Playing on the xbox 360. I remember this game fondly and I wish more people would it's a masterpiece.
Pit People confirmed the narrator was actually the bear that died at the end of Battleblock. Also I believe the narrator all through BBT was just a recollection of his events, thus why the game plays out like so and why he has a line after he dies.
I got this game when I was a kid, and I for some reason just always assumed Hatty was the narrator. Then when I grew up and found the game again and played it, I thought to myself “Why did I think this, it’s not Hatty!” And now you’re making me think twice once again…
I've been WAITING for someone to talk about BBT's story from this angle, cuz I'm SUPER passionate about this game's story. I adore the vague storytelling because it lets the player imagine and decide what happens, like the mentioned idea that Hatty is The Narrator we hear. Despite the many holes it has, I enjoy the theory that Hatty is The Narrator a whole lot, it gives him a bit of character we can work with. It also insinuates he could be blurring various details when telling the story, and embellishing his own image, perhaps even to cope with the trauma from the game's events. It's so fun to think about! Hatty will always be The Narrator, at least in my eyes. Also, don't think I didn't notice the background music from Underhero in some parts of the video, which is another indie game I adore! Puzzleman at the end got a laugh outta me, great video!
18:26 THANK YOU for the confirmation I remember seeing him say that in the description of the song's youtube upload but his channel got deleted so I didn't have any way of making sure it was real. Still pretty screwed thought take care Stamper
I always believed Hatty was the narrator for one scene in the cutscenes (last cutscene before the ending) saying “Perhaps we’re the crazy ones and they’re all sane”. I always thought “we” was kind of including the narrator in some way. But instead of it just being the player puppet only or another random friend puppet beside the player; it was Hatty. I think the narrator being actually Hatty was the initial intention of the devs since there are other bits of dialogue from the narrator that implies it was Hatty, which you pointed out a few with the golden hat ones. And even the menu selection of game modes has Hatty’s hands being the sort of selecting cursor with papers which gives off a narrator vibe. The Behemoth just made it a lot more questionable once Pit People had it’s story and had their narrator being the antagonist but I still believe at the very least the intention was supposed to originally be Hatty. He’ll always be Hatty to me personally
im on like an alt account but I FUCKING LOVE THIS GAME. i remember when the xbox 360 era was out, i used to get bullied by my brother in the game, which he did by making various cells to kill me, and tell me to enter them, they would kill me, respawn me, and do it again. which its fine, cause its funny thinking about it! anyways as i was saying, this game is AMAZING! so glad to see [ atleast ] SOME recognition
ahhh this is amazing, im obsessed with this game (and obviously stampers narration) so to see someone do a video on it is great! i always thought the game was us playing through a retelling of the events that happened throughout the game with narration from hatty himself, since he was there. love the video!!!
BBT genuinely is one of the best multiplayer games of all time with no exaggeration. The stupid fucking cats have always been some of my favorite enemies in any game ever dude
Never played the full game, only played the xbox 360 demo and I LOVED IT I l played the demo over and over again when I was a kid, that was the game that i really wanted to buy, but my parents only bought me physical versions of games, that's why I didnt own the full game
29:05 its actually not that hard to see the unused boss, and the unused boss just moves straight forward to your location, path finding around obstacles, to get the unused boss, you have to use a certain cheat engine script thing, and force you to set the block to id "CC", i would give a link, but youtube would delete my comment
You're a greater man than me. That game is too weird and abstract for me to be able to do everything. Tho nice to know another living being who has that game, in case I ever need getting the online achievements.
@@Velovetre LOL, yeah makes sense, i really like pit people in all it's abstractness and oddities, even if the animation budget ran out a bit during the end of story mode
The whole “narrator is Hatty” thing is funny to me because that’s what my friends and I naturally assumed from the start. I don’t even know why.

Exactly. It's on par with modern games now, maybe even better. I seriously don't know why it was forgotten

Officially he isn't. They decided the narrator is a disembodied voice.

I always assumed the “narrator” was hatty’s separated spirit or soul trying to make the best of a dark situation
Which is why when the ending plays he’s like “So your friend is a vegetable now, blah blah blah”
18:44 you GOTTA listen to order/play ultrakill it has that EXACT energy you described
The narrator could be the hat itself or Purrham Furbottom's soul
i'm p sure the narrator is the bear that got clipped by hattys beam then the other bear was the narrator in pit ppl
