She showed that it doesn't matter how you look on the outside, as long as you're happy with yourself! And that's what makes her and this song so special.

Then after performing in lots of singing competitions, he got asked to host an Austrian singing competition (I forgot the name of it) and he thought 'Why not do it in drag?', but then he realised that he has to shave his beard to do that. So he asked if the woman making it wouldn't mind have a bearded lady hosting her show so the woman making it said yes and Conchita liked it so that is how the bearded lady Conchita Wurst (The Queen of Europe) came to be.

Conchita may not have had the best voice, or the best song, in the competition, but she did have something else usually sorely missing from this show, and that is an actual _vision_. I believe she meant every word of her song and the meaning behind it. It takes a lot of bravery to put yourself out there for other people's criticism and express yourself and what your genuine "Euro Vision" is. It's amazing that people responded as well as they did, and given some of the responses on here alone, I'm surprised she won.
Screw the haters - I honestly don't care what she looks like, she has a talent and that's what counts! Signing is for the ears and emotions, not for the eyes.

That's Thomas Neuwirth. He's a drag queen, and Conchita Wurst is his persona. Being a drag queen is completely different from being transgender. When Tom refers to himself, he uses male pronouns; when he refers to Conchita Wurst, he uses female pronouns. So you *would* refer to Conchita as a girl, but it's actually a drag queen. :) Look him up, he actually used to be in an Austrian band.

To everyone who doesn't know if Wurst is a he or she, this is how Conchita came to be. He was born as Tom Neuwirth. Then after performing in lots of singing competitions, he got asked to host an Austrian singing competition (I forgot the name of it) and he thought 'Why not do it in drag?', but then he realised that he has to shave his beard to do that. So he asked if the woman making it wouldn't mind have a bearded lady hosting her show so the woman making it said yes and Conchita liked it so that is how the bearded lady Conchita Wurst (The Queen of Europe) came to be.

I have a classmate who looks like him... Yeah, a man moving his muscles in a way they are not meant to move, contracting his bones to uncomfortable positions, wearing fake hair and nails, using clothing that does not match his figure, while forcing his voice to try to speak in a manner that is not natural in him... He is simply confused. He is talented and the song is beautiful. I wonder why he did not compete with that. Why did he had to compete with controversy. We all know he won just because of that. It makes me sad to think that there are so many people in the world that in a dog talent contest would vote for the dog that has a cat tail and the ears of a mouse... :(

Conchita may not have had the best voice, or the best song, in the competition, but she did have something else usually sorely missing from this show, and that is an actual _vision_. I believe she meant every word of her song and the meaning behind it. It takes a lot of bravery to put yourself out there for other people's criticism and express yourself and what your genuine "Euro Vision" is.
It's amazing that people responded as well as they did, and given some of the responses on here alone, I'm surprised she won.
