Our Grandfather Story There seems to be no way Subscribers can provide feedback or suggestions to OGS. I think it would be helpful (to increase customers and demand for the food stalls) if you have "Playlists" based on LOCATION of the stalls ? Eg - EAST, WEST, NORTH, SOUTH of Singapore ? This way, interested customers can visit stalls around them or nearby. Thanks for your interesting videos.
He has only one fully formed hand, doing a job physically demanding and socially low enough to turn away a vast majority of the younger generation... But he's totally casual about his place in life. This uncle is one tough cookie. Respect!
My eyes were focusing on the magical dough he was making the whole time .... Didn't even notice until 1:25 that HE HAS MISSING FINGERS 🤯 he did everything and talking so smoothly like it's no big deal 😎 😍
Oh my, need to support this uncle sial... Down-to-earth, no airs, and makes sakima fresh from scratch... with no fingers on his left hand... Dear Sir, #respect. Hormat senjata to you! :O
So if there's fellow Americans and others out there watching this and wondering what this taste like let me tell you this, at first I was highly skeptical but I ended up eating the whole shop. It's light yet rich, sweet but not too sweet, eggy, a little chewy and all in all spectacularly devine. I put it right up there with kouign-Amman and a good danish and cronuts which in my humble opinion are all God worthy. pastries
You're lucky you tried the one from this shop. You get them in supermarkets too but they're obviously terrible compared to this, and I've tried a bunch of handmade ones in Malaysia but not a single one I've tried comes close to the version that this shop produces. I spend about $40 at this shop each time I visit to get some for friends and family. My wife and I usually finish our first pack within 24 hours then regret not buying more!
how can we popularize this treat! It's so worth the same status as some fancy western desserts. People should pay the true worth of all the craftsmanship that goes behind treats like this!
I wonder if OGS or someone can make a tiktok/reels version so more people or tourists can understand the flavour/texture of it being caramel/malt-like so they'll be able to continue until he retires!
Does OGS welcome feedback & suggestions ? It would be very useful and helpful (increase demand) if you have "playlists" grouped or based on LOCATION of the food stalls ? For example : West of Singapore, EAST, NORTH, SOUTH ?? (So that we can visit stalls that are nearby and around us ?)
I've never had the handmade version, but the pretty packaged sakima is a bit like a rice crispie square in construction, but there is little to no fat of any kind in them, so they tend to be a bit dry and kind of turn to dust in your mouth. They need a hot beverage to go with them. All in all, not terrible but if I never had another one in my life, I wouldn't care.
it tastes really good! the texture is much better than rice crispies imo. It's quite chewy and just a tad sticky, but in a way that's really good and melts in your mouth. I've never found it dry but that could depend on what type you've eaten. The flavor is light yet rich; a little bit eggy, and a little syrupy. But try it for yourslef first
Tidak sama bro, yg kamu panggil gipang itu di malaysia namanya bi (米beras) phang (香wangi) 。 Yang di atas itu shachima (沙其马), menggunakan tepung gandum, bukan beras
its amazing, but the traditionally made ones like these are getting harder to find. You'll usually get the commercialised stuff on store shelves, not to say they arent amazing but they do taste different

I just realise he doesn't hv his fingers on his left hand, yet work hard at his business! Wow! (1:17)
Why does nobody talks about how he worked with all of those heavy shit with just one perfect hand??
because both are already perfect for him
@Calindor Wow, you're such a good person. You didn't notice that some dude is literally missing an entire hand. Do you want a gold medal or something?

Omg! I love eating those! Never really knew the name but they're yummy! Light, chewy, airy, and not too sweet!

Respect ! We shouldn"t complaint less .
This is one of my favourite snacks!
This stuff is so good with coffee
Tried once. It could be the best in SG but if compared to Perak Ipoh's, Ipoh's sa kei ma are so much better.
Edward Cheong cause Ipoh uses pig oil to fry it that’s why. Sa kei Ma in malaysia is notorious for using pig oil.
Not Ipoh, It's in Sungai Siput.
Yes, cook with lard produce the best sa kei ma. Lard is the healthiest oil there is.

I love this uncle so much x3

@@Aeybiseediy Yeah, that's the main part of the treat.. dont eat too much or else your teeth'll drop out.. haha
Probably would be a lot less physical if he made it in small batches.

Это чак чае,
chinese rice krispies.
Is it Halal?
As in Halal certification? Never been there before but probably not. Looking at the ingredients though I doubt there's any meat in there. So if you're confident of the ingredients, why not buy and try? Or you can ask when you're there.
Ingredients are basically egg, flour, sugar & oil. Its the technique that makes the taste unique. So, must be halal, same as for the yee cha kueh.
who cares if it is halal or not. It won't kill you.
