I'm an independent filmmaker working on a documentary for PBS about how the history of Asbury Park influences the art there today. I'd love to be able to get and use some of this footage to show what the town looked like in the 80s. I'd be happy to acknowledge you in the credits. Please let me know if you're willing! Thanks!
Some GREAT shots if short- if I knew then what I know NOW, I would've spent a lot more time in the Palace- an amusement jewel from another world and time. JCJoe is right- a tradegy on a grand scale, would've been priceless if saved for AP's resurrection- could you IMAGINE the tourist bucks and nostalgia factor this place could've brought in?? This was like losing Palisades Park- it just hurts the hearts of SO MANY. Couldn't make another if you tried, but I wish some would ANYway!
@jerseycityjoe I agree! Everybody dropped the ball on this one -right down to the historical society itself that TRASHED 125 pieces of memorabilia that they salvaged from the Palace! Unreal the money in this state that goes to ridiculous things; and yet they destroyed this historical building that could have been part of the resurrection of A.P. Was just there yesterday and the boardwalk looks great with small shops, artists, food, etc! Grassroots efforts to reclaim Asbury!
