When prints of the manga started finding their way over to the west afterwards, some people even assumed they were bootleg comics ripping off Capcom's fighting game. A lot has definitely changed with western perception and consumption of Japanese media in the over two decades since.

This game is so nostalgic for me! I was lucky enough to come across this game in an arcade as a kid. I thought for years that Jojo was a Capcom property, and always wondered why Jotaro was never in MvC.
The closest we've seen to that thus far is how Seth uses Jotaro and Dio's (invisible) stands to attack in Street Fighter V. I hope Shonen Jump vs Capcom happens at some point so that we can see Jotaro in a game with other Capcom characters.
Did you know: Jotaru, DIO, Shadow DIO, and Poloret have a multi- bar super attack. Jotaru and the DIOs can stop time temporary, while Pol puts himself and your opponent asleep (and temporarily evolves his Stand to Silver Chariot Requem).
I'm so glad you're discussing this game. I started playing a few years ago and I think that it deserves more credit than it got. Just finished the video, I cannot believe that Khan, the worst character, won the tournament. Truly a testament to how determined FGC players can be.
Played this game in my local arcade back in the late 90s when I was like 10. Didnt even know what JoJo was. First arcade game I ever took the top spot in.
This game is still one of my all time favorite fighters, it’s so much fun with a shit ton of fan service. This is THE Jojo fighter and I feel like it can’t be topped
Honestly this game being closer to a street fighter than a traditional airdasher anime kind of game actually makes a lot of sense. Jojo has always been one of the more quite literally "grounded" shonen, since while stands can have crazy powers, the entire magic system is built around the concete that the stands are limited by being linked to normal, vulnerable people. It's what causes the fights in JoJo to have their more visceral, tactical feel since this usually (emphasis on usually) limits just how far the scale can go. Even the most broken abilities like The World or GER don't have that dragon ball, blowing up planets gravitas, the only time JoJo ever really gets to that scale is Made in Heaven, otherwise every fight is relatively grounded in terms of raw explosive scale.

What do you mean missed the boat? This game is still thriving with a very competitive online scene. Iirc persona 4 arena has less players than this at current
The "fake" banana flavor tastes like a variety of banana that nearly went extinct.
I thought that variant DID go extinct. Where has it survived? o3o
Exactly, modern bananas are actually all clones of one specific plant. Also, if I'm not mistaken, they are also a hybrid variant formed from 3 or 4 different types
@@MrMarket1987 The Gros Michel? It's not entirely extinct, but it is rare.
@@syd.a.m Here's hoping for a time it can return to commodity. I used to get the candies of it and always wondered why bananas never seemed to taste like it as a kid. I'd sure like to try the real thing sometime.
@@MrMarket1987 Here's a video from Weird Explorer where he tries and reviews the banana: ruclips.net/video/_x-yhe9GfoY/видео.html He also provides information on where you might find one.
one of the funniest jmcrofts vids based fake banana flavor and cheerio enjoyer
This board produced the best sprite graphics of all time. 3s, this, and red earth. And with cfe I finally got to play red earth, but sadly I've never played this and I love Jojo and fighting games
This game was the embodiment of "pick your TOD"
If you ever host a tournament where anyone can enter for JoJo's please let the HFTF discord know, we'd love to playa and show you what this game is capable of!
The streams you did for this was super fun! Glad to have been a part of you discovering this game!
Have this on my Dreamcast, still pick it up sometimes
Such a nostalgic game
I'm glad to see I'm not the only one to find Robber Soul's "Ulret!" So weirdly mimicable.
No taunts in the fight though, so no "Rerorerorero"s.
This is still my favourite kusoge, it’s so fun to do anything really
First time seeing this game, it honestly doesn't even look kusoge. Just looks good lol. Underappreciated I would say
It's unbalanced but not a Kusoge at all lmao
If this game is a Kusoge then every fighting game released before the 2000's is a Kusoge
@@Sorrelhas Obviously not a literal kusoge, but close. It's super unbalanced, it has some broken moves that you can only dream of countering and you abuse system mechanics the devs didn't intend to be a central part of the gameplay. Oh, and a fair amount of infinites, also.
@@vitorodino9851 Yeah, you kinda can't tell just by looking at it, but it is. Doesn't make it any less fun tho
@@jonatanperdomo432 Again, then every fighting game released before the 2000's is a Kusoge, because most of them are chock full of the things you mentioned
Is SF2 a kusoge? Any of the KoF games? They all have those things, except maybe infinites (but full of ToDs)
The parry has a unique mechanic..if you're good at it you can basically remove enemies moves effectiveness.
They keep abusing a move? Take it away from them
Fun fact, the banana flavor in candy is what bananas actually used to taste like before we cross bred them and took the seeds out. So the flavor you like is just the original flavor and not fake.

@@jmcrofts thanks for that. But I hated this article. It went from saying that my statement was false to at the end saying that my statement has a good chance of being true. Or did I read that wrong?
This was so intense !! I've been in love with the game for a while and this video is perfect for me to get into it
Kakyoin in this game is kinda OP
I'll just spam Emerald Splash
You can't simply deflect it!
Kakyoin is busted as hell, second best character, there's a reason he's banned. 80% off of one net combo and godly neutral
@@AffyMoon bruh the Kakyoin emerarudo supurashu is undeflectable just like what he says in anime lol
The game has so many wack a doo characters, bizarre moves/special moves, and beautiful sprite animation it's just a fighter you don't forget playing. I regret never playing a cabinet version, had to do MAME.
This game got a active comunity on Fightcade and still play this game a high level.. Aleph Null is one of the best player in this game..
Fun fact the suscriber clip for Sonicfox is Jotaro from this game
aleph quit, and he’s just there compared to players like bnoc, tenshou, gary, or guru which hail from cracksville
@@multistuff9831 Aleph won tournaments consistently, most of the major ones he entered, in which players that you mentioned participated. If he quit it's bc he had nothing else to prove. I will never understand why people from the FGC love to throw out dumb opinions like that all the time.
@@multistuff9831 nah aleph sniffed just as much crack as the other top dogs
@@jonatanperdomo432 I can’t find the tournaments that you are referencing, to my understanding he was good for sure but let’s not discredit other gods of the game lmao
@@Shodan130 I don't think you're looking good enough if you didn't even found Frosty Faustings or the one Justin Wong hosted. And never discredited the other players, I said Aleph wasn't "just there", which is true.
No other game has ever given me characters like this one. I love the little bits of puppet and stance without going all in on the archetype. I hope we eventually get a remake so that I can play people other than ass kicking veterans
Or better yet, other ones like this based on other parts. Part 5 and 8 would make for some really crazy shit
He played Polnareff... We will always remember Frank as a man of the people *salutes sunset with tear-stained cheek*
Too bad he didn't include me landing the ray dart combo. I was going for that all tourney.
@@servebotfrank4082 HE LIVES
I could not tell in the first fight if that was like a rubber soul imitating kakyoin or if that was just a different kakyoin
Ayeee I’m glad you covered this game, it’s so sick
Crofts, my dude! Old man cereal is king! All I eat. Cheerios, corn flakes, raisin bran, chex(all kinds), and Crispix (possibly the most s tier of s ties) and ALL of them with bananas and/or strawberries. Blue berries, too.
Ever try kix? Or Berry Berry Kix?
If you haven't tried Berry Berry Kix you need to fly or fast-travel to the grocery store. Thank me later.
Thanks for the dope videos.
Wow, this game is so entertaining! And very creative, like any Jojo-related stuff are. AWESOME! Where can we see the full championship?
They made a 2.5d fighter a few years ago (NOT Eyes of Heaven) that was quite fun to play, excluding the lack of serviceable dashes. JoJo could be the next FighterZ if a good studio could get the rights
All-star battle?
Funny story I use to always throw away the banana laffy taffy.. last year (quarantine) I ate one and man changed my life I never understood the taste but man now I can eat a bag of those things
This was the first arcade game i played, i never knew it was jojos bizzare adventure
I wish they’d make a new one. It’s like my video game dream.
I feel this way about the SNES Gundam Wing Endless Duel game.
Love the JM cup series!
This game has no business being so hype. Like what the hell? Now I need to get it. ( °-°)
havent watched the video fully yet i jus wanna say thank you for shedding more light for this amazing game i hoop one day it gets ported to modern consoles
JM bro.... jojo's only gets exponentially better after the second season.
PalpatineDoIt.jpg
An all-time classic.
I've never thought of Yellow Temperance as Banana Laffy Taffy.
I was waiting for you to play this, it's so good!
"Polnareff 's like, roasting him!"
Polnareff's line: "We'll meet...in Italy..."
legend says that fake banana flavor is actually not fake, that's how the most popular banana variety used to taste but they were all vulnerable to some decease and kinda stopped being cultivated
Fun fact: Heritage For The Future made by the same team who made Street Fighter 3rd Strike : Fight for The Future
I'm surprised you haven't made a video about this game before
TBH, I wasn't even thinking about the JoJo reference meme. I was thinking Jodeci.
Had it on Dreamcast. I loved this game!!!
never fully understood it but always thought this game was sick
Fighting games based on anime will always be one of the coolest things to me
Capcom was one of the best to ever do it with HFTF
Yoooo this is super cool man
Easily one of my favorite capcom hush hush fire fighting games
Can’t believe I bought this game as a kid from Sam’s Club for like 7 bucks.
