    Hello Margo, thank you so much for your informative video😊
    I just got admitted into NUin this year and I’m considering whether or not to commit, since I’ve heard that NU is very career oriented. I learnt through the college application that I’m not really a fan of putting myself out there, so this worries me. Does going to NU means that I need to look for co-op and plan out my career path very early? Do most people know what they wanna do already in freshman year? Also, do NUin students have a hard time adjusting in the spring semester?

    How was your experience in the NUin program? I just got accepted into it as a CS major and was wondering how it all worked out. I also have some specific questions:
    1. Was it a tough commute from the Westin hotel to classes?
    2. Did you only have classes with other NUin students or were the classes mixed?
    3. What did you think of it overall?

    • @MargoLiakos11
      @MargoLiakos11  3 года назад +5

      My experience was pretty good! I think Northeastern did the best they could given the circumstances. I would say because the Westin is on Huntington Ave, as long as you give yourself at least 10-15 minutes to get to class you should be fine. It is not a difficult commute. You can take the T to campus or walk! My classes only had other NUin students in them. This definitely made it a little harder to meet people from campus but you meet a lot of NUin kids which forms a strong NUin community! I think overall, it was fun. I probably had more fun in NUin for my semester than I am at Northeastern on campus now!

      Yo this is a little late and I’m sure you’ve made your decision by now but in case you decided to do NUin Boston I might be able to help give an idea on what that was like. Im a combined Political Science/ Business Management major.
      All of my NUin classes were with other NUin students. It did make it a challenging to meet non NUin students but that shouldn’t be a problem for you since in person clubs will be open by the time we get back to campus in the fall.
      In terms of traveling to campus I found this to be the hardest part of the program because I didn’t have a lot of experience using public transportation (ended up going the wrong direction plenty of times on the orange line). Although it was challenging at first, I learned really quickly and with the unlimited transit card the university gives you for that semester it’s easy to explore what Boston has to offer and go anywhere the T does.
      Overall I’d say the program was a positive experience. I was definitely ready to leave the Westin and live on campus at the end of the semester, but the Westin did have things that the regular campus didn’t. The main thing was living in the same building as everyone in the program gave a lot of opportunity to meet people. With the amount of students in the NUin Boston program there was always something going on and my friends were only an elevator ride away.
      Hope this helps of you chose NUin Boston. If not, good luck wherever you’re going

    I know this is old, but I have a question.
    1. this school seems like it's really hard to get into. The 18% acceptance rate, coupled with a really high average GPA.
    This is really confusing, because I have a fairly low work ethic and I tend to struggle a lot with school in general.
    And the only college a get any recommendations from is a prestigious school. I'm (was) a high school freshmen. I have no idea what is going on

    • @MargoLiakos11
      @MargoLiakos11  2 года назад +1

      Hi! This school definitely was more of a reach school for me! I did have a good GPA throughout high school and do have a good work ethic, which I believe may have helped their decision in admitting me! What exactly is confusing for you? I would love to be able to clear anything up for you :) Colleges tend to advertise to everyone just so that you will apply! It is always good to remember that colleges are institutions and are looking for as many students as possible to apply!

    • @kiannavictor7163
      @kiannavictor7163 2 года назад +1

      A lot of schools tend to send advertisements to everyone despite GPA. Especially when they are targeting a certain sector or community. You could have a low work ethic and do not so great in school, but you could also be in a high ranked school or you performed well in PSATs, so they attract to you despite your grades. NEU is a great choice! But if you aren’t confident in your skills to get in there’s always UMASS and other less competitive schools in Boston.

      Hi! I personally am not qualified to give you the exact "requirements" so to say. I did find this link that I will post at the bottom of this message if you want to refer to this! I think Northeastern admissions really look into students who portray leadership and are "go-getter" almost. However, that does not mean everyone that attends here has those qualities! Again, I am not qualified to tell you what Northeastern looks for in students, but I do think being self-motivated, being an active member of activities, and leadership are some things they look for from my own experience. Hope this helps!

    Hey, I have a question about the NU in program. Do you only take classes with NU in students once you are on Boston campus?

    • @MargoLiakos11
      @MargoLiakos11  2 года назад

      Yes, NUin students did only take classes with NUin students which was a pro and con of the program in my opinion. It allowed the NUin program to be tight knit and be close with each other which was awesome to make some friends, but it did segregate us from the Northeastern community a bit in my opinion.

      @MargoLiakos11  2 года назад

      @@patrickmyers5670 I don't think it was a special situation. However, when the NUin students go abroad, they do take classes with students within their host school. I think NUin students only take classes with NUin students when they are in Boston. After the first semester, you become a regular Northeastern student and join in classes with all of the regular students on campus.

      That depends on what you want to do in your future as well as throughout college. If you plan on going into a highly competitive job market, then yes, NEU is worth it. If you’re looking for a “classic” college experience, I don’t suggest Northeastern, as it’s very independent and career oriented.
