VICE News visits one of the most disputed pieces of land in the world, a holy site for Jews and Muslims in Jerusalem's Old City that's become the focal point of the latest wave of violence. Watch: Death of a Stone-Thrower (Dispatch 4) - bit.ly/1Rk52QA
These people need an independent party from outside that region who understands Israel and Palestine to help solve the issues. Too much has been done, too many lives lost and too much tension. It's hard to put a gun down when someone has one pointed at you. A neutral party is needed to help solve this conflict. The hard part is finding people who are neutral and do not have an agenda that conflicts with either side.
+VICE News The name of this series "Intifada 3.0" is misleading and irresponsible. This is not a third intifada and that is very wrong for you to promote that false idea. We all hope this does not turn into a 3rd intifada because the loss of life will be horrible. VICE News will bear some of the responsibility if it does because by using the term they are influencing the tragic events before they happen. Imagine if you made a video about Russia and NATO having a close encounter in Syria and called it "World War 3.0" That would be stupid and irresponsible to jump to the conclusion that the situation will escalate that much, wouldn't it? That's what you're doing here
+Chris S I doubt that would even work at this point. Neither side would even listen to any neutral third party that isn't basically giving them everything they want. Plus is there ANYBODY left out there with that kinda power who doesn't have an agenda that runs counter to one side or the others?
Very disappointed by the slant of this video. The video discusses how Muslims are offended by Jews visiting the Temple Mount, but never does the interviewer ask about the offense given to Jews by the fact that Muslims built a mosque on the remains of the Temple to begin with or repeated desecration, arson, and vandalism of Jewish holy sites (such as, most recently, Joseph's Tomb, but also synagogues in Gaza following the withdrawal from there). Additionally, Ariel Sharon's visit to the Temple Mount was merely the justification -- the excuse -- given by Palestinians for the Second Intifada; Arafat's rejection of the peace process at Camp David and incitement to carry out suicide bombing attacks, not Ariel Sharon's visit, was the cause of the Second Intifada. Likewise, concerns over Al Aqsa are, once again, merely an excuse. Furthermore, the video ends mentioning Palestinian's real grievances, with no mention of real Israeli grievances over acts of terrorism.
I'm Iraqi and, sorry, I'll take the people who sing and dance to make their point as opposed to people screaming Allahu Akbar with AKs. End of the story for me.
I don't think israelis have the right ot settle in the Gaza strip or the West bank, they already have enough land and need to stop pushing the Palestinians out. Just live in peace god dammit.
+seymour buttz Muslims invaded that land in 637 AD, so muslims litterally don't have a right to be there. That gold mosque that they're all worked up about, please google how it was built, *what* building was burnt down and *who* lived there first

As much as I love VICE, this has to be by far their most bias video! After watching all of the episodes (1-5) I was oddly unsettled by the fact that the reporter has managed to travel and visit many parts of Palestine, however only shows one (very small) subjected part of Israel! Why not interview people living in Tel-Aviv, Haifa, Beer Sheva! This was truly an interesting vice however, distorting the truth of the situation!
+choppedfox x He does not deny them as humans! All that he says is what everyone with a slightest interest in world history understands and acknowledges, and that is that the "Palestinians" never existed as a people group, nor as a nation, all the way until the middle of the 20th century. That was the time when that term was invented and when those Arabs suddenly became "Palestinians".
+22 zg 77 are you willing to disprove documents of world leaders specifically mentioning the country of palestine? How about the documents my grandfather and his father had of land ownership, legal documents, and other official papers written down on history? Because as a Palestinian myself I acknowledge that at multiple points in history including before rising tensions in PALESTINE there were Jewish and Arab PALESTINIANS living g peacefully together, the first step of reconciliation of both sides is to acknowledge each other's histories
+choppedfox x Mandatory Palestine was NOT a country in any sense of the meaning. It was a short-lived British administered territory, not much different then a post-war colony. This semi-colonial territory lasted for only 28 years, and during those short 28 years ALL the inhabitants of that territory were colloquially called "Palestinians". That included as you well know, all the Arabs, all the Jewish, all the Druze and all the Christian populations. Now please, show to the world ANY mention of "Palestine" or the "Palestinian people" before the 20th century.
Boo hoo. Poor Arabs, having to share the Temple Mount with those for whom Jerusalem was the Holy of Holies while they were still nomads in the Arabian desert, worshipping the Crescent Moon, long, long before Mohammed started the Islamic religion only 1,400 years ago. Jerusalem is the City of King David, Anointed King of Israel.

The golden Dome of the Rock is the Cubbat As-Sakhra, NOT the AL-Aqsa mosque which had a grey dome on the other side of the temple mount, though some do consider the entire temple mount to be a part of the Al-Aqsa compound some would even going to far as to to include the western wall to be within it. The Dome of the rock is located on the holiest spot in Judaism and is for that reason where some Israelis want to be able to visit. It was there that Ariel Sharon visited not the Al-Aqsa itself.
+Alex Barrett The Muslims there have their origins from the 7th and 8th century after conquering the region. They aren't the original Israelites either. But have been there for much longer than the modern Jews.

This video is quite misleading as the most right wing Israelis are portrayed as representing the Israeli government on the issue of the Temple Mount. While it is mentioned that the group depicted is far right, it is not emphasized enough that the views expressed by the Jews in this video are not consistent with those of the Israeli government.

There is no mention at all in the Koran of such a place as "palestine" Surat al- Bnei ISRAEL Surah 17:104 "And We (Allah) have said to the Children of Israel ( Bnei Israel) Go and dwell in your Land. After the final prophecies have been fulfilled, We will gather you in a mixed multitude" Yasser Arafat, the founder of the "Palestinian liberation organization"? He was born in Cairo,Egypt.
Can't believe they actually interviewed that Raphael Haar guy. I talked to him (well, he was indiscriminately chatting up everyone on the street) when I was walking through Jerusalem just four months ago. The situation was still peaceful then, if a bit tense at times. I was actually surprised he wasn't wearing a tinfoil hat. His idea of a "united" Jerusalem is simply a Jewish Jerusalem. This guy has completely lost his marbles and should not get a platform.
Khaleel Mohammed, assistant professor of religious studies at San Diego State University, said in an interview with Frontpage Magazine the person most mentioned in Islam’s holy book is Moses, the great Old Testament prophet and leader of the Israelites. Mohammed says the Quran presents Moses “as God’s revolutionary” who “leads a people despised and tormented for no other reason than that they worshipped God, out of the land of bondage to the Promised Holy Land.” The professor quotes from Chapter 5: 20-21, which says Moses declared, “O my people! Remember the bounty of God upon you when He bestowed prophets upon you, and made you kings and gave you that which had not been given to anyone before you amongst the nations. O my people! Enter the Holy Land which God has written for you, and do not turn tail, otherwise you will be losers.” Mohammed points specifically to the reference to the Holy Land as a place God has “written” for the Israelites, a term that conveys, in Jewish and Islamic understandings, a “meaning of finality, decisiveness and immutability.” “So the simple fact is then,” he says, “from a faith-based point of view: If God has ‘written’ Israel for the people of Moses, who can change this?” The professor describes himself as a scholar “interested in a moderate Islam, one that is inclusive and is concerned about all human rights.” “My mission is to help reclaim the beauty that once was practiced in Islam, a message not currently in fashion amongst more traditional or fundamentalist Muslims,” he told Frontpage. Mohammed said while Muslims may argue the present state of Israel was “not created in the most peaceful means, and that many were displaced,” this, for him, is not the issue. “The issue,” says Mohammed, “is that when the Muslims entered that land in the 7th century, they were well aware of its rightful owners, and when they failed to act according to divine mandate (at least as perceived by followers of all Abrahamic faiths), they aided and abetted in a crime. And the present situation shows the fruits of that action - wherein innocent Palestinians and Israelis are being killed on a daily basis.” He says medieval scholars, “without any exception known to me,” interpreted the Quran to recognize Israel as belonging to the Jews. According to Mohammed, the idea that Israel does not belong to the Jews is a modern one, “probably based on the Mideast rejection of European colonialism, etc., but certainly not having anything to do with the Quran.” Most Muslims, he laments, do not read the Quran for themselves and instead rely on imams and preachers to do the reading and interpreting for them.
+MrHomerun The majority of Israel's right-wing voters of the Likud and Israel Beitanu parties are completely secular, their ideologies have absolutely nothing to do with "god". They are simply motivated by the desire to retain the Jewish Israeli character of the state. How can you put the Islamic extremists that fomented this despicable violence on temple mount on equal footing with Israel? They are incensed just because Jews dare to set foot there. Mahmoud Abbas the president of the Palestinian Authority said that Jews are "defiling the Muslims' holy place with their dirty feet", did you hear any Israeli official make a similar statement about Muslims?
***** You're an ignoramus. Israel was established by 19th century socialist/communist pioneers, some of which were avowed ATHEISTS. Not only was the Zionist movement secular, it was vehemently opposed by religious Jews in Europe, it was against their religious beliefs. You getting this? Religious European Jews had the chance to escape the Holocaust, but they refused to find refuge in Israel because they rejected Zionism, they thought god was going to come down and save them from the Nazis. You've got the right to have your own opinions, you're not entitled to your own facts. Motherfuck, Americans can be so thick-skulled, how the fuck do we breed the dumb out of you.
So sad to see so many people misinformed in the comments. Just look around the countries bordering Palestine they are all Arab/ Muslim countries, Jews are not a race, Jews= Jewish people from the religion of Judaism, they coexist in Lebanon, Jordan, etc. but they do not own those lands they are a small percentage of people who have no land trying to claim something that is not theirs. They don't even look like Arabs from this region they clearly don't belong. I don't expect anything less from the US backing terrorism, but it's so sad to see countries like Saudi Arabia backing the Jews.
Lol, thats cute. The side that insisted on its creation via the destruction, death, and forced displacement of palestinians is and always will be the " bad guy ".
Ironic that one of the most holy of places for all three Abrahamic religions (religions of 'peace') is also the place where hatred and war has been going on for the past 1000+ years. What does that say about God?
Aris, I have been an avid viewer of your work on Vice addressing the Middle east. What has shone through is your courage and journalistic integrity. I believe that you have set standards that many agencies would do well to reflect upon. That is why I find this piece so disappointing. You have merely conversed with extremists on either side of the conflict, and have sought no input from the moderate Arab or Jewish Israeli communities. This current situation is the legacy of far deeper complexities which I am certain that you are aware of. I am not sure why you have chosen this angle, but wish to praise you on your overall body of work.
I wonder what people's reaction will be when Israel says "time to conquer the Arabian peninsula and build a huge synagogue in place of the Ka'aba". Right..
I'm a Jewish American who lives here in Tel Aviv (Ramat Aviv to be exact) and I just want everyone reading this to know that Yehuda Glick is a right wing extremists and myself (and many other Israelis included) view him as something akin to the radical Islamists Israel is trying to fight. He is wrong and he is contributing to the problem.
+Kons R. Oh look guys, it's another Latte'-guzzling leftist from occupied Sheikh Munis. Why don't you tell us in your own words what's so "radical" about promoting freedom of worship for Jews which ought to be enjoyed by any person on earth in the temple mount compound, which is the holiest place for Jews on earth and is used by Palestinian children as a soccer field. The problem is people like you who are condoning violence and intolerance by Muslims.
Maybe just make Jerusalem a city-state? Not a puppet or sphere of influence to Palestine or Israel, but a free city, where anybody could enter or leave. There would be no fanaticism if it isn't owned by either!
muslims don't hate jesus. He was a prophet just like adam, Abraham, moses etc. muslims don't believe he was crucified. muslims also believe in the second coming of jesus.
We don't hate them there are many Jews living in Arab counties, search Jews in Lebanon, Jordan etc. But they don't want to coexist, they just proclaim that the land is theirs. But look around Palestine it is all Arab countries owned by Arabs. Why would this country be for Jews, the Jews clearly look white with ginger hair, they clearly look out of place in this region.
Well i am not religious but i remember when i was a kid rabbis told me that the Temple Mount is forbidden because the most holy site of the Temple was underground and it is not appropriate to step on it. I don't think that point of view in Judaism changed at all, except for a minority of religious nationalists that Vice News decided to show us half of the video. The real problem is the right wing ideologies in Israel versus palestinian propaganda and terrorism. Another problem which is related to the first is that Bibi is not doing anything except accusing people. But seriously, nobody gives a fuck here about that Temple Mount. Yes, it is holy, but well, take us our pubs and beers and it will affect us much more than this piece of history. If israelis really wanted it they would have take it long ago.

While it is mentioned that the group depicted is far right, it is not emphasized enough that the views expressed by the Jews in this video are not consistent with those of the Israeli government.
I would bulldoze the place if they can't share the place and act like adults.
share with bad people? no

no you wouldn't, probably couldn't even repeat these words to a Palestinians face.
+sami ajre You moron, they did not give all Palestine to Israel. They split it up, giving 2/3 to Jordan, which is truly the home of the Palestinians.
+sami ajre Just like what happened in india. they Muslims couldn't be satisfied with Pakistan, which is also apartheid in action, but had to have Bangladesh too. And Kashmir. They never are satisfied!
Still you forget to mention the Christians in the video.
These are absolutely fascinating to watch. Keep them coming if you can, please.
not all of us Palestinians are Muslims...
Vice news - my number one source for news on the middle east!
Rabbi Glick? More like Rabbi Glock.
"The Free World" should stop being a thing
Praise be to Allah, may Allah give victory over Palestine, Allah always protect those who do wrong, to relieve the suffering of the Palestinian people

There is no mention at all in the Koran of such a place as

Surat al- Bnei ISRAEL
Surah 17:104
"And We (Allah) have said to the Children of Israel
( Bnei Israel) Go and dwell in your Land.
After the final prophecies have been fulfilled, We will gather you in a mixed multitude"
Yasser Arafat, the founder of the "Palestinian liberation organization"? He was born in Cairo,Egypt.
Anyone knows the music at 2:22 ? Helppp please
Resistance is existence not terrorism. In solidarity with the Palestinian people. Free Palestine end the occupation now.
I find it ironic how people were hating on Vice saying it's some Pro Jew propaganda, now with these dispatches people are saying Vice is anti Jew now.
Why not interview Norman Finkelstein, instead of these cheerleaders of the Israeli occupation?
Never trust someone who speaks with closed eyes.
Why are there some many Jews with American accents aren't Jews from Israel ?
live and let live
Mohammed says the Quran presents Moses “as God’s revolutionary” who “leads a people despised and tormented for no other reason than that they worshipped God, out of the land of bondage to the Promised Holy Land.”
The professor quotes from Chapter 5: 20-21, which says Moses declared, “O my people! Remember the bounty of God upon you when He bestowed prophets upon you, and made you kings and gave you that which had not been given to anyone before you amongst the nations. O my people! Enter the Holy Land which God has written for you, and do not turn tail, otherwise you will be losers.”
Mohammed points specifically to the reference to the Holy Land as a place God has “written” for the Israelites, a term that conveys, in Jewish and Islamic understandings, a “meaning of finality, decisiveness and immutability.”
“So the simple fact is then,” he says, “from a faith-based point of view: If God has ‘written’ Israel for the people of Moses, who can change this?”
The professor describes himself as a scholar “interested in a moderate Islam, one that is inclusive and is concerned about all human rights.”
“My mission is to help reclaim the beauty that once was practiced in Islam, a message not currently in fashion amongst more traditional or fundamentalist Muslims,” he told Frontpage.
And the present situation shows the fruits of that action - wherein innocent Palestinians and Israelis are being killed on a daily basis.”
He says medieval scholars, “without any exception known to me,” interpreted the Quran to recognize Israel as belonging to the Jews.
According to Mohammed, the idea that Israel does not belong to the Jews is a modern one, “probably based on the Mideast rejection of European colonialism, etc., but certainly not having anything to do with the Quran.”
Most Muslims, he laments, do not read the Quran for themselves and instead rely on imams and preachers to do the reading and interpreting for them.
Israel isn't a country, but Palestine is in my opinion
your opinion is shit and false . lol
she uses a selfie stick but holds the phone with her other hand? wut
3:28 Couldn't have said it any better!
While is Black and Black is White. Such an irony to be claimed by an Israeli.
Quite the turf war you got going there. Good luck to ya all.
Aris Roussinos the best war reporter out there.
Can any gun nuts explain to me what's going on at 4:43?
Why can't both right wing factions of Israel and Palestine agree to pray at the same grounds?
Because Palestinians are racists in thinking that Jews defile any place they set foot.
Motherfuck, Americans can be so thick-skulled, how the fuck do we breed the dumb out of you.
why can't we all be friends
Jews and Muslims not getting along, _I just can't believe it._
"Genuine Palestinian grievances?" Do you even read about British colonialism, bro?
Its a free country and the Muslims won't let the Jews worship on the former site of the temple of Solomon, it is that simple.
Poor umbrella being touched by Israelites...😣 0:57
@7:30 did this joker just used tourists and extremists in the same sentence? Lol!!!
'ma big fan of that band Tool, and they have a song called "Right in Two" which just makes me think of this kind of situation every time.
The Rabbi is either giving speeches/interviews or is dancing round'n'round.... funky dude !
I don't expect anything less from the US backing terrorism, but it's so sad to see countries like Saudi Arabia backing the Jews.
the united jerusalem guy was fucking scary.
Amazing how in the comments noone has realized that there is no "good" or "bad" side only lots of grey areas.
Lol, thats cute.
The side that insisted on its creation via the destruction, death, and forced displacement of palestinians is and always will be the " bad guy ".
Both sides seem a bit off...
VICE, don't just film all the fanatics.
1:43 Lol at that Dance
Not a good Dispatch. Same with "migrant crisis". Overemotional, poor technically, unbalanced, biased. Bring back Simon.
At 07:09 a clear sign how the world is changing with new and old crushing together....
Religion will bring Humanity to an end
@2:12 some nice eye candy
the jews have every right to pray on the temple mount as the Muslims do
Love and peace pls :)
In religious conflicts, as this one, there is no victim
I wonder what people's reaction will be when Israel says "time to conquer the Arabian peninsula and build a huge synagogue in place of the Ka'aba".
Right..
That won't happen because that has nothing to do with Judaism.
Rabbi Glick? @ 2:27 more like Rabbi Glock...
He looks like Gerard Pique.
Who are terrorist ?? They just burn Joseph's tomb
Israel should flatten the Gaza strip. Why are they becoming weak now?
I thought he was going to hit him at 3:51
Maybe just make Jerusalem a city-state? Not a puppet or sphere of influence to Palestine or Israel, but a free city, where anybody could enter or leave. There would be no fanaticism if it isn't owned by either!
The UN should have a presence in all the religious ares that are holy to both religions.
Why do muslims hate jesus?
muslims don't hate jesus.
