Since I got hold of the Bachmann Freightliner 90 I’ve become slightly obsessed with it!
Just a few months back if you’d have said to me that I’d be modelling electric traction I’d have laughed at you😬 I’m really enjoying your channel as you seem to have this electric traction bug! The running sessions under the wires look great as ever, really looking forward to seeing more in the future.
Back to the your new loco, I wasn’t even aware that the 90 existed in the livery you have there, it’s a stunner! I’m thinking that I might have to get a sound chip for mine now.
    Great work👍
    Cheers John B

I didn't know Bachmann had released this livery variant. I always thought this was the most attractive of the European livery locos.
Bachmann have certainly picked a good model for livery variants with the class 90 - I believe they have carried something like 25 different kinds to date!! This model is extremely complex in construction and difficult to dismantle so they have made it (perhaps deliberately?) extremely difficult to repaint - ensuring sales of subsequent livery releases for some time yet! I have the swallow version, and would also love a RES model too - they were very frequently seen on passenger services in the 1990s and early-mid 00s.

Great video there on 90128 Wratting Street. Great to see Bachmann following up the first three releases of the Class 90 with a fourth not that long afterwards. I had been hoping that Bachmann would do an EWS/DBS/DBC version but we will have to be patient for such a model.

@@belsteadlanemodelrailway Hey, thank you for your reply Jack. I am currently on Bachmann 90 repaint planning number three with 90028 and 034 sorted. I love the Malcolm logistics one and i'm sorta semi responsible for there being a vinyl on ebay for 90024 in db malcolm, but it's not perfect so I wont be doing that until it is but I havent given up just yet.
On the layout front I have a multi talented guy making me some nbrass catenary masts in exacting forms and I love your single masts before the tunnel mouth, its fairly common on the WCML but wasnt sure it was seen elsewhere, certainly not on the ECML.
My layout is a few months away from completion and an expert is working on this for me but I will be doing layout updates in the not so distant future.
      Happy modelling !!!

@@belsteadlanemodelrailway oh ok cool, I gather Ben Cambridge is doing a lot of 90 repaints at the moment, he'd be a good person to speak to on rmweb about this if you havent already finalised plans for 90034. I'm in discussions with him about 90024 and I'm also planning on having 90037 in ex EWS DB as well as a handful of other DB 90s, not exactly sure which ones but likely to be 90018 in DBS, 90036 in DB minus Schenker as this was the first Hormby DB 90 I had along with 034, 037, 018 and 019 (I gave basically shipped out the Hornby 90s and swapped them for their bachmann counterparts) ... I am aware that Grand central are due to be using DB 90s on their Blackpool-Euston services soon so it's likely one or more will be out outshopped in GC Black and Gold, so I will be watching out for that and if that wasnt enough Freightliner are repainting 90044 in their new Orange livery as we speak so there are lots of 90 updates to watch out for.

Nice review mate, I picked mine up at Warley, glad you’ve listed all the functions as I couldn’t find anything in the box other than a small section that covered a handful of the functions, cheers Dazza

I bet the price wasnt bad relative to the cost of a std 90 plus the non sound dcc decoder.....thats around £180-190 so to get factory sound for the small additional cost seems a no brainer if you want a working dcc pantograph.

The cables on cab front that are orange but should be yellow are TDM(time division multiplex) cables which is the system which enables the driver to control the loco from DVT.when locos and DVTs were first introduced on WCML this system was a little unreliable and occasionally still is! It's called deconfiguring.locos got the nicknamed "Skodas" by staff which at the time at the height of cold war between East and West were considered a somewhat naff Eastern European car NOT like Skoda cars of today.the BR senior management were not amused! Legend has it that a fitter replaced the intercity swallow badge on front horn grill with a Skoda car badge a a joke! Wonder if someone got a photo of this?
Anyway it's a great model looking forward to getting one as I drive the real thing.

Wratting Road I thought you would have after I posted. It’s a nice engine, just need to build my layout next year so I can run them, lol

Wratting Road lol, I know that. I dismantled my layout over 20 years ago when I moved house but a lots changed since then ie. DCC
I spent £££ over the last year just buying new trains with DCC sound, ecos controller and other bits. I’m just at the planning stage at the moment, not sure whether to go end to end or circuit. I’ve got room for a 25’ x8’ but it’s spare time I lack. I fly hot air balloons and ride on trains, expensive hobbies lol

Wratting Road at the moment I’m enjoying looking at everybody else’s layouts and getting ideas. There’s some really fantastic layouts out there, a real inspiration of what to aim for, well at least try. Really looking forward to starting again.
