Great advice. Trust is a must and creating a safe place for your client. During massage some heavy emotions can come up or even just the vulnerability of laying there half naked at the mercy of a stranger {massage therapist} It is essential to have at least 15-20 between clients so that if they need to chat you remain attentive. When clients return I often relay what they told me last time. ie an accountant telling me how busy they have been because of tax time with many hours at the computer ,dead lines being very stressful, feeling neck and shoulder tension. When they return, I say "I bet your glad tax time is over ". Just this simple step make clients feel heard and they return.
Good advices , thank you for sharing your time with us. by the way i'm a dental surgeon and right now i'm a cook on my RUclips channel and i have been practicing massage for 15 years till now, but for my family only. I followed a lot of lessons online ,i have benefited greatly from the information. Thank you.
i have been to many therapists and I know what it feels like to have a great experience... as well as a bad experience. The number one reason I don't return to a therapist is because he or she was not able to go deep enough, even after sometimes asking them to go deeper. Other reasons that I haven't gone back include the therapist smelling like cigarettes, the therapist talking too much, the environment not being relaxing, or the therapist being merely okay but charging as if they were amazing. I now go to someone on a regular basis who is affordable, about $40-50 per hour and also knowledgeable about how to leverage his weight for added pressure.
