I love watching Melissa work
I admire a hard working husband & wife team. Not all of us are that fortunate to have that. I give you all my regards. You are an inspiration to us.
Great shot of Janna and the pup.
💥 I can almost smell those wood chips! That chipper is just awesome!
*Keep on tractoring!*
Archie is a great supervisor
Wondering why he can't just chew all them stickz!
A little meet and greet with the guts on that chipper would be very satisfying, Mike. Access to the knives for sharpening and replacement, service, this is here, that's there kind of thing. Can't find where you have done that yet. That's a very impressive small chipper, but nuts and bolts stuff makes all the difference. Go Morgans!
Great Progress on the new pole Barn!!👍👊
Wood chippers are just like tree-hugging shrinks. They receive your problem/obstacle; regurgitate (chips flying) that problem in a loud, boisterous manner, and all of a sudden, your problem is solved! Mike, your hornet story was great! Getting stung by one of them is like getting stabbed by a screwdriver. Hannah, you surely had a portrait moment! With your stunning expression, and Archie's obedience, I can see that framed.
Thanks Mike and Melissa.
Totally agree on how satisfying a wood chipper is. Right as the quarantining was starting back in March I shifted my usual spring plans and committed to several weeks of tree trimming and removal of a LOT of pastures, fence lines and roads on our property. By the end I had spent 8 weeks just trimming, cutting and piling brush (and the lower branches of 100+ yr old pasture oaks are just as big as individual 10-12" trees). All total, 200+ brush piles, most of which were gathered into piles that would make Letsdig18 proud, and burnt. But there was still several days worth of chipping to be done, especially along the road leading up the hill from the bottom of the property. Once all that was gone, my son and I spent 2 days cutting and pulling grapevines out of trees. Some of these were nearly 4" in diameter, and when you pulled them with the tractor, you could see tree canopies half way down the hill swaying as you pulled on them. I would keep pulling until the entire vine was down and would leave it lying along the road. When we were done, the entire road was covered in vines. I set up at the bottom of the hill with the chipper to start feeding vines into it. In the end, there was between 1-1/4 and 1-1/2 MILES of vines we chipped in one continuous run.....in about an hour and a half. THAT was satisfying. It did not take long for this chipper to pay for itself.
Looks like you cut the limbs the right way today, good for you a man that listens
Mike always is even keel and likes his hobbies but he is really excited about this building. Great to see and can’t wait until it’s attached to Melissa’s pool. Love watching so thanks for filming.
I’m with Melissa re the chipper, love watching it work,
Hello from Debbie in beautiful Ocala (Central) Florida again. It was another hot one here today; index topped out at 104 and was still at 103 at 6:10 p.m. this afternoon!! And very humid. Makes you REAL thankful for AC for sure! You guys are doing a great job and you make a great team. God Bless. #HaveADay!
Interesting fashion statement Melissa!!!
Greatest part of this video (and most of your videos) is having a supportive wife! Hod bless you both, your marriage and your family! Keep up the great work!
Oops, God, not Hod...
I am in Wichita, Kansas. Glad you were here for the tree items.
e
Put that one right where you wanted it 👍🏻 been hot and humid here in Orange County NY with almost daily rain storms, almost can keep up with the lawn. Maybe I’ll get to mow it tomorrow for my birthday 🤣🎂👍🏻
Babyboy is get lot better now i can't wait see your new video
Based on your (and others' videos) I got the Kubota L 3901 TLB package plus snowblower (essential here) and the Wallenstein BX 52 chipper. I have a flood plain choked with debris that has been an eyesore for years. It also has years of debris that floated in on the river every spring. Think of pick-up sticks with logs. I really enjoy your videos and especially your warm family relationships. Keep well and best wishes from Ottawa Canada.
Good morning from Yukon. Have a fantastic day. God Bless.
Mike you do a great job dropping those trees.
Mike- I always enjoy your side stories about something you did previously in your life that compliments the story at hand. Very funny. Take care.
Mike, I used to work for a tree service and I loved running the chipper as well but you have to be careful when cleaning up the ground around the entrance tunnel that you don't pick up any rocks with the brush you grab there. They will ruin the cutting edges and can also come out of the chute like a bullet!
What a pleasure it is to always see clean and shiny inplements, tractors, , vehicles, utv, trailers. My dad taught me to always keep your tools clean, but mosts guys just don't do it anymore, but then again, Mike is not most guys!
Pie Town Larry
Morning Mike and Melissa to keep things clean maybe put a tarp down between the chipper and trailer
Or a piece of plywood from tractor to trailer
I like that idea. I would tie the trailer end of the tarp on the inside tie downs and drape it over the side then you just have to take a couple ropes and pull the whole tarp full of leaves over the top onto the load. Been there done that unloading stuff out of the back end of a pickup.
Nice aim Mike. You dropped that one just right. I love running my Chipper to, you’re right there’s just something very satisfying.
Retired from our local township, worked on a chipper for DAYS!
ALWAYS ENJOYED IT!
Excited for you guys and the building. You folks are such workers, awesome.
Looking good. Said to loose trees but will be worth it to have a nice building
Had a bald faced hornet nest in a tree where I mowed a few year back. All summer had to use a motorcycle helmet while mowing. My wife an I still laugh about that summer. Wish I had known about Mike's flair trick back then. Thanks for the tip Mike, I will be ready for the next one.
You go "Chipper Chick". Love the Morgans back yard!!!
Perfect video to start my day! My new WoodMaxx MX-880 chipper is getting delivered today and I absolutely can’t wait to try it out and make a video! Great video per usual Mike and Melissa!
Thank you for your time you share with all of us I was just about liking liked about the same size and just about as active but I had a stroke in September but it sure hurts the heart not being able to do any of it Melissa you a toughdon't worry about Hunter he'll grow up to be a great with two parents like you he can't help but
Great job Mike, can’t wait to see the new building 👍👍👍👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Good morning Mike and Melissa, great video and use of the Wallenstein Chipper. It is really fun using the chipper and the way Melissa does it is safer, with the extended limbs there is less likely a problem. On the other hand, starting a limb and getting back away to get another limb is a time saver. You have to pay attention all the time and the safest way so be comfortable and careful every second around the chipper and stay calm. You both will work it out! Thanks for sharing with us and it’s looking good for the whatchewgonnacallitbuilding you’re building. 🤗👍👍🤣. Fred.
it is also very much safer getting away from the branch in the chipper, if your not there it cannot snag ya going in
My chipper might be my favorite tractor attachment. It's satisfying to take a jumbled up mess and turn it into something pleasing to the eye.
Once you're done cleaning the trees, you should do a panoramic shot before and then one after the barn is there. Would also be cool to have a drone shot and one from the street to help us see how big of a difference it will make. I'm following the project with interest. That's a really nice barn project you have there and a really nice size too!
Love watching you two work, I am also blessed with a wife that is willing to work along my side doing whatever needs to be done. A hint, if she likes watching the limbs get chewed up in the chipper, leave her alone. She could just watch you feed them into the chipper! god bless hard working women!
I agree with Marcus. I would love to see some stumps dynamited.
Perfect drop spot on that tree Mike!
Haha Haha, Chipper Chick caught you using her chipper and took it away from you! You two crack me up!
Great video. And an observation: As Mike mentioned, the lighter leaves aren't being carried as far as the heavier chips. But when when wood is chipped with leaves, the heavier chips carry the leaves. If you are able the put another branch in before the leaves of the previous branch go through, I believe you will have less leaves missing the trailer.
Mike & Mlissa: Great video. I saw a comment below, and have to agree with him. Mike you are really good at getting trees to fall the way you want. Nicely done sir. I enjoyed watching Archie intently watching you both work under the watchful eye of Eva. And Mike is right Melissa about not having to watch a branch get all the way through the chipper. In fact, I'll bet if you get the next one started as the first is getting down to the leaves, the wood from the next branch will propel those leaves further into the trailer, instead of falling on the ground. Once again, as you've heard me say before - sometimes free advice is worth exactly what you paid for it. Blessings to you both, and to the family. Hi to the girls and to Hunter.
I love my Woodland Mills wood chipper. There’s just something very therapeutic about running it.
You guys are such a great team and you get alot accomplished!! I so enjoy your videos! 😊
Howdy Morgans, Mike nice job felling. Chipper Chick great job feeding the chipper but it appeared you covered the stairway leading down out of the trailer. My favorite part of the video was Archie seating there observing the chipper. The expression on Archie's face seemed to be saying "what's the big deal about the Wallenstein Chipper I can do the same thing with less noise" Have A Day! ;~)
i think he might have been thinking what are you doing to my chew toys
Another great video! We use our Stihl pole saw a lot. In fact, we're publishing a video about it tomorrow.
Yeah, my wife said the same thing about chippers! There is something cathartic about taking a mess of brush and reducing it down to a wonderful mulch or compost.
Keep learning something new listening to you Mike. Occassionally I get a big Hornets nest. Now I know how to take care of it.
Love the hornets nest and flare story. Great job dropping the oak tree
A beautiful day here in North East Pennsylvania
Good morning Mike and Melissa. A friendly little advice---make the building as large as you have room for---you won't regret it. I'm looking forward to your big build. If I was feeding the chipper I would wear gloves that would strip from my hand very easily. I would think something grabbing the glove and pulling the hand in would be the biggest danger. Just one mans opinion. Nice video guys. Hello to HUNTER and all the Morgans. Have a great day!
That chipper does an amazing job and so does chipper chick. Great job felling that leaner too.
Hello guys, Even on vacation, I'm watching your channel. LOL
Two things. 1) When loading chips sideways from the trailer, use a panel (like for walls) one side to cause the wood chips to fall into the trailer ...this way you can raise the angle of the chipper shoot. 2) If you don't have a garbage disposal, then chop your veg's peels (not meat) and mix them into a compost pile in the back, along with some grass clippings, wood chips, leaves, and a few worms. You will get the richest soil ever. Google ingredients for the best results, and timing. Keep making your fun videos!
Can't wait to get our own PTO chipper, so many branches around our property and the chips will make a great top dressing. Great videos Mike & Melisa, keep it up.
Wow. You two are fast!
hi you make that look easy , new to watching but enjoying watching what you both do and you have great looking place ,sure a will enjoy catching up on more of your videos, mick from the uk
Nice teamwork!! You two ROCK!!! Thanks for the share!! Can't wait to see the progress!! Have a day Morgan folks!!
A good rule of thumb is that the width of the canopy is equal to the root ball beneath the ground.
Love watching you dismantle a tree. I think it's the efficiency of the machines that we enjoy; at least it is for me anyway. You get done with a job using a machine and think to yourself "how long would that have taken without a chainsaw..." Good stuff Morgans! Hi Hunter! Beautiful shot of Hannah, by the way. She's so beautiful!
Morning all from Augusta, ga were the heat index temp got up 106 like the tree cutting and the tractor and equipment work.......hello Hunter, and family
I have used a chipper on my mom trees and I have to agree it is real satisfying to use and to watch one being used. I am with Milissa I like watching it chew the wood.
Moving slow with the virus in Gig Harbor Wa. But good morning to the Morgans
and all who are watching :-)
It is satisfying to mulch those limbs, but having a tree fall where you want it is like over the top. Melissa love those gaiters. Y'all have a good one.
Nice job Mike and Melissa. Watching 👀 in North Alabama right off interstate 65
Good morning! Lots of quality mulch you are making, Mike. Have a great day.
If you place a sheet of plywood in the trailer opposite the discharge pipe, you can tilt it a little higher and make sure everything ends up in the trailer.
Having breakfast and watching the Morgan's
Archie is a good student he is learning the ways of the Morgans. I was thinking the same thing Melissa how refreshing the leaves would be freshly cut like that. Thank you for sharing your video with us. Hello Hunter. Ed
Great job. Keep up the good work. Have a productive day.
That hornet nest story was pretty funny, thanks for sharing. God Bless.
Greetings from the Central California Coast. Just about a month ago, I was taking down some trees in my yard and chipping them. I told my wife and friend that chipping was one of my favorite things to do. I got my 23-year-old son hooked on it too!
We are more rural here, so COVID hasn't hit us as hard as other areas, but it does look like bars, and indoor dining will be closing again.
Good morning Hunter ;-) missed you all yesterday !
New subscriber here from MA, binging my way through your back-catalog of videos. Enjoy watching outdoor stuff from my old college area (went to college in Beaver Falls). There definitely is something about running a chipper. My mother, who didn't do much outside beyond walking and gardening, loved running the chipper when my dad was clearing land in Maine for their retirement home.
That chipper is nice, slow and steady not like the tow behind units. The weather here today In western mass was nice until rain came in around noon with dime sized hail. Temp went from high 80’s down to mid 60’s. Love y’all
Archie is a good boy just sitting there watching.
I just can't recall the name of the movie that took place in [ I think ] North Dakota. It's where a high IQ crook chopped the guy up in a wood chipper. That's why we love the power of those chippers. Great job falling that tree Mike.
Fargo 😉
My last hornet nest removal was fun, Remington 1100 and high brass #8's..................
Nice drop on that tree!
Nice antler racks on top of the post!
Wished I had that chipper! I'm with Melissa on the chipper, gotta love it for recycling brush , etc. Mike your hydraulic trailer has stack pockets on each side, take 3 - 2x4's and a couple 2x12’s and make a side board for bouncing the chips off the far side. I use stacks on both sides of my hydraulic trailer for carrying brush. Super job on getting your build site ready, take care.👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
So funny seeing Melissa stop and watch! I was going to make a comment about it and laughed when Mike mentioned it! Mike, when are you going to take more time off? Doesn't look like anyone will be going any where this year? (Just looking for more content LOL)
t is also very much safer getting away from the branch in the chipper, if your not there it cannot snag ya going in
Hi Mike when I have a tree that must fall exactly where I want it, I attach a snatch strap as high up the tree as I can, and the other end to a 4WD ute (pick up truck) tow bar ( similar to retrieving a 4WD that is bogged). I then cut the tree similar to your method but leave it a bit short so it does not fall. Then drive the 4WD and the tree comes over very easily exactly where you want it and you are away from the action. To remove tree roots I use a riper on a backhoe just keep moving out from the tree until the root rips out of the ground, its pretty quick and always works, regards Palle Sydney Australia
Morning Morgan's. Hello from Kalamazoo. This project is going to be a great content thread, start to finish. Can't wait to see the end product. Adios.
Good job Guys may the Lord keep blessing
I'm sure you have thought of this but.... there are stake pockets on the top edge of the trailer, why not make a small deflector fence about 4 2x6's tall and put it on far side of trailer, then you could aim the discharge chute a bit higher, or have trailer a bit closer to chipper and that may reduce your post chipping cleanup duties???? Just a thought I had while watching the last video, didn't comment it but it may not be too late as you do have a few more trees to clear. Take Care Guys, Hi Hunter!!! Time for a BK Chicken Sammich.
Another great video, team work.
i thought mine had problems since the leaves arent always chipped, glad its fine finally!... its hard work to bring the branches!!... cutted 30 tree... I was exhausted at the end of the day
A chipper is definitely next on the list
Need a chipper in my life bad😁
Good morning all, Phil from Kansas City here. I hope all is staying cool and hydrated Our temps will be pushing 100 this week Have a Day.
When i was working I had to to up fancing around trees that where not coming down and it would to be out past the leafs because the roots are that far out. Have A Day!!!! Bob
All ways the fun part, cutting the limbs and cleaning them up.
The chipper makes good mulch. Where do you put it Mike?
Melissa tried doing her stairs lol
I've heard the roots are as big as the tree canopy...?
Mike thanks for the tip about using a road flair on bees wasps hornets and yellow jackets
Great Kubota again ❤️🌳❤️
Mike, set the trailer up so the tailgate is closed, but raise the bed about 1/3 of the way. Then bring the chipper in as close to the tail gate as you can where the chute points toward the top of the trailer. This way the heavy chips will go high and fall toward the bottom, while the lighter leaves will go INTO the trailer at the bottom. As you fill it, the trailer can be lowered to keep the chips from over-flowing the tailgate.
Good morning from St John Parish, Louisiana.
Buckin' has taught you well Grasshopper! lol
lol
Morning Morgan's. I would love to have a chipper. We spent about two weeks loading and hauling limbs this spring cleaning up nuisance mulberry trees. I also would leave the stumps high. Oaks especially have massive root systems. Things are quiet in our neck of the woods. Still no rain for weeks here. Everything's dying. Tell the family hello and have a day. We'll see ya down the road.
the largest root system iv seen is on a 25" Locust tree the root ball must have been 15 foot in diameter and about 2.5 ft deep, around here the Oaks are not that deep but just as wide as the tree and after 10' there spread out and easy to cut with shovel but close to stump you need a saw to get through them 4 to 6" dia
