    Can you do a similar program on the Saraswat Brahmin community? This community also is approaching extinction. Deepika padukone, Gurudatt Padokone, Shyam Benegal are personalities from this community. We are basically Kashmiri Pandits settled in coastal karnataka. Do not mistake us for the GSB community.

      That is the Chitrapur Saraswat community, to which my mother (a Kaikini) belonged. Their numbers are believed to be fewer than 20,000 now.

      Sadly, that won't be a possibility as your community is part of the Umbrella Larger (TUL) Majority in the country. And The Print isn't a fan of TUL community.

    In school we have studied in text books about Parsis. “Parsis came to India and they mixed in India like sugar in milk.” India is milk and Parsis are sugar.
    I am from Bharuch. There were many Parsis lived in Bharuch. Unfortunately never interacted any Parsi people.

    Very informative and interesting video. Just one thing that can be done to preserve culture is to give equal rights to children of Parsis who have married non Parsis. We are a Hindu family and have two Parsi women who are married into our family. Also, I have Parsi friends who have married Hindus but the kids are still not allowed into Agyari or cannot officially become Parsis if they want to. So I guess if that one change is made, it will make lot of difference in preserving culture.

    As I understand according to Parsi community law, when a Parsi woman marries a non Parsi, their children are not considered Parsis. They should change this law in their own best interests. Also this law is very patriarchal, doesn't really reflect existing Parsi ethos and attitudes

    Individually, Parsis could be brilliant, but as a community, they lack intelligence. When the Parsis originally landed in India, from Iran, they intermarried with the locals and increased their numbers. Now there are so many bars on intermarriage, that they have even kept the recent (19th & early 20th century) Iranian Zorastrian away.

      =========================
      Persia is the old name of present-day Iran.
      The similarity between Pasis in India and Iranis in India is that both groups came from Persia (i.e., Iran), and that they both follow Zoroastrianism.
      HOWEVER, there are differences with regard to WHEN they immigrated into India, and in some of their cultural practices.
