The most incredible part is that this is the end of a show lasting several hours. Their endurance and energy is incredible.
From The Point Theatre in Dublin, Ireland. Chicago native Michael Flatley brought Irish dancing to the forefront with the show Riverdance and followed it up with Lord of the Dance. He and his dance troupe became international sensations. At one point, his feet were insured for $57.6 million.
Flatley retired on several occassions but found himself returning to the stage. Finally, revealing a slew of painful tears, and repeated tears and bone break injuries to his feet, achilles, knees, a rib, and spine, he retired for good in 2016.
Seeing this live is absolutely amazing
Nice reaction, thanks🤗 First time I saw these guys was their very first performance at The Eurovision Song Contest 30th April 1994. Blew me away!
Got to see michael flatley do this in california awesome
I don’t think the dozens of camera cuts per minute does anything for the performance. I find it more impressive to watch when you can just see them all in unison and choose what to look at.
River Dance first appeared as an interval when Ireland hosted the European Song Contest. It was like a breath of fresh air in amongst all the crappy songs that usually are on this show. That's what started the whole phenomenon
this is not Riverdance though
While you're correct, this is not Riverdance
@@rew8382 No, however the original was actually Riverdance, due to the success of it being viewed by millions worldwide as the Eurovision Song Contest inverval act, there was reportedly a falling out with the creators and Michael Flately so he left and then created Lord of the Dance instead
Well that's the Irish half of my DNA awake now I hope you're happy.
hahaha u was moving to this hehe :P
all the dancers were champions...the show was amazing and wont be seen again..x
They got their big break on The eurovision song contest in Dublin back in the 90's it's Irish dancing, and they do a ridiculous amount of taps per second,I think Michael who's the head of the troop said it's around 30 taps per second for each person so you can imagine the speed that they're moving
My mate said to a guy he was arguing with "don't piss me off mate cos I'll go full Michael flatley on you"
That still makes me laugh.
LOL
Literally 'Lording it' ;o))
He is also a boxer so it has more meaning then you think lol
I’ve seen this live before I love it🔥🔥🔥🔥
you saw it live thats wats up!
@@bxkid7 i’ve seen Riverdance Live and it was a Major WOW!!!!
He is certainly the lord of the dance 😎👏👏👏👏👏
def they got some smooth moves if i tried to dance would just fall face first on the floor lol
@@bxkid7 I guarantee the next time you're drunk at a wedding or something you will be river dancing 😎
@@lovelybitofbugle219 hahahaha id probably just be in a corner eating all the cake lol
You can literally feel the entire building shaking. So cool.
Seen one of his last shows when in London it was amazing
Yes! Finally some Irish reactions! You should definitely watch Father Ted 🇮🇪
Father Ted is the best
most definitely will
bxkid7 Most iconic Irish TV show ever made
I love the one where Dougal was the milkman. Father Ted is so funny
“I hear you’re a racist now Father” lol
Please watch the full performance from Eurovision song contest, it is amazing, totally different for the day and stands the test of time.
Now watch Stavros Flatley in Britains got talent
One that you should really give a watch is Feet of Flames at Hyde Park, the energy in that show was phenomenal back in 1998 when it was performed, to this day it has always remained my favorite of all his shows :)
ruclips.net/video/gdVF2pefNpg/видео.html - full show if you ever get a minute to watch any of it.
Fun Fact - Michael Flatley's legs are insured ( or at least were at one point ) for $51.8M
My aunt was in this show and although she said Flatley was a menace she loved the whole experience.
A menace 😂😂😂😂
My Aunt was a County Class Irish Dance Champion in her day - bin liners full of medals and cups. The introduction of Tap was pure genius.
Who is your aunt?
Not many people know this but after each show he would have to submerge him self in ice water because he would over heat near the point of heat stroke but he loved it so much so he went on preforming this show up until 2015 and an new group took over the Show and brought it back and its bombing statums
If you like this you should watch Feet of Flames. Stage production was huge! Still my all time favorite show to this day! And you can watch the whole show here on RUclips!
I prefer Lord of the Dance myself, far more subtle and magical. Problem with Feet of Flames is that because it was in a huge outdoor space and not a theatre, they had to exaggerate facial expressions and other non-dancing movements so that the audience could see them.
At least, I'm assuming that's why they did it, can't see any other reason to. It just made everything look cheap and tacky. The little sprite was annoying and I didn't like her at all. We're supposed to like and care about her character, but she came across as unlikable, and the gypsy temptress wasn't a bit seductive, she was just gross.
There was no difference in the talent of the dancers, and of course a lot of them were the same performers from Lord of the Dance. But due to the way the show was performed I couldn't enjoy it, even though the dancers were equally brilliant.
you should watch another by him...its called "feet of flames" the whole show.
The show is fantastic but I wish the camera angle didn't change every 0.5 seconds
that wave they was doing was insane!
Exhausted just watching it lol 👍
😁
when I saw this I had heard he was arrogant and full of himself...and starting it I was yeah...by the end I was like, "The guys earned it hehe."
People who have met him in person have said that he is quite soft spoken and very encouraging to young dancers. Not at all arrogant.
@@diannelavoie5385 oh I bet :> I think part of what I felt was painted by the controversy of him leaving river dance to start his own thing, and you watch the frist bit and he's VERY show boaty, playing the the crowd. But the more I watched the more I realized he earned it.
That was not tap dancing. It's Irish dancing. In Riverdance, they had a tap dancer and Irish dancer together and it was fantastic.
Gimmie Gimmie Gimmie, it's rude , crude, and absolutely hysterical.
I love watching your reaction videos. I really hope you react to some of the Britist kids tv shows. Please react to the Sooty show or Sooty on This Morning. The Sooty show is one of the longest-running kid's tv shows. I love Sooty and Sweep to pieces.
thank you so much for the suggestions! will def look into it :) much love.
bxkid7 you're welcome. Thank you for your reply. Much love to you too
Well kid, bet he doesn't eat many Tunnocks Tea Cakes!
hahaha
Lord of dance ?? Pfft I challenged him back in 92 to a dance off on top eh the saint fergus roof n he shat it, still waiting michael...Great reaction kid.
Not tap dancing, this is Irish dancing. Tap dancing in the US was inspired by Irish and Scottish horn pipe dancing.
You should watch the full fleet of flames :>
Gd reaction kid. Can't beat a bit of Irish dancing.
you got slick moves like this?
@@bxkid7 haha no. If u count belly dancing by slapping the belly a few times for it 2 wobble for half hour. Lol
It aint tap-dancing, it's Irish Dancing
Now watch Stavros Flatley BGT! They're bloody brilliant 😂.
You should react to war lords from lord of the dance
polsa
Hi
hi!!! wats up :)
You should checkout Riverdance at the 1994 Eurovision contest. Same guy but for me a better performance than this one
Haha! I can appreciate the talent but I'm bailing out early this time kid! Sorry man
no need to be sorry my dude! when you make content not ever piece is going to be for everyone. i totally get that. just you taking time to write me means the world! dont ever forget that. i appreciate you always friend!
@@bxkid7 I'm sorry you have to watch the whole thing, big man! Thats commendable ;O)
@Luke Mills It's just not to my taste. It's like forcing me on a date with the opposite of the type I fancy. I shouldnt have to explain it -- it just does nothing for me.
You think this was good, wait till you see stavros flatley 😁
😂😂😂
