Speaking as a patient, one morning many years ago I woke up with severe pain in my abdomen. Thinking it was probably gas, I tried at first to just ignore it, but it just kept getting worse and worse. After about half an hour it was so excruciating that I could hardly walk! This was by far THE WORST pain I'd ever felt in my life! I crawled to my car and decided to drive myself to the emergency room which was only a few minutes away. They quickly did an x-ray and informed me that my intestines and stomach were twisted into a knot and that they had to operate IMMEDIATELY! By this time I was crumbled into a ball on the floor in pain. The pain I felt was the blood supply being choked off, if they waited even a minute longer, then my intestines would have atrophied from a lack of blood. The next thing I knew, I woke up in a hospital bed the next morning with a long scar across my stomach. According to the doctors, it's something that just happens, and when it does, either you get to a hospital right away for emergency surgery or you die.

I had hiatus hernia surgery in April 2022 but it failed , a few months after, my stomach started to twist and become obstructed as half of my stomach was in my chest. Absolutely excruciating! Had more hiatus hernia surgery again in October the same year, in hospital for 3 weeks. In and out of hospital leading up to February 2023 when I almost died from gastric volvulus, had 2 more lots of emergency surgery!
Found out in September 2023 that half of my stomach is back in my chest again and that my diaphragm is so weakened and damaged. Surgeon told me that my diaphragm would never stop my stomach from pushing back into my chest, also that my stomach could become twisted and obstructed again, even if they tried to repeat the procedure again, which he told me would now be too risky. I'm now in constant fear of that happening again!

Great video, easy to understand. Currently my wife has been diagnosed with volvulus and after watching your video, I understandit much better. She hasn't had a BM in months and has been in a lot of pain. She has been loosing weight, nauseous, vomiting....etc. She skips meals often because she says the pain after is just too much. She does a lot of enemas trying to get a little relief. The doctor is just giving her a variety of laxatives but nothing helps or works. She says that she doesn't know how much longer she can last and from what I read, her condition is extremely bad. She's been trying to see her doctor for about 2 weeks or so now without any luck. I just wish we could find someone that understands her condition, look at her. I'm really starting to wonder just how much longer I'll have her.
Is there anything she can do at home to help while she's waiting to be seen by a doctor?

This happened to me and I’m recovering. I’m 30 days out of ICU fighting like hell to gain weight. Mine ruptured and I’m lucky to be alive. My surgical team removed 6 feet of necrotic intestine. I describe my pain and “adventure” on my channel. It’s just me talking about what I felt and how it happened. It’s about 18 minutes long. If you are curious about this topic, it’s a decent listen.

Earlier this year, my brother came home from training one day and complained of
stomach pains- it came and go. each time every cycle of pain got closer and worse and
worse. By week two he'd be on the floor screaming and crying. By week three his
response to pain would be to vomit. It absolutely has scarred me. All I listened two for the
next two weeks was vomiting- I hardly ate and never left my room. He could not keep anything
down. We had taken him to the hospital twice and every time they said it was just
constipation. One day it got really bad and we had to call an ambulance. My grandma picked me
up from the house and my brother was transported to the hospital where he got one scan done, they
realized it wasn't normal and demanded he was transferred. After being transferred he was
taken for tests and soon after taken in for surgery, as been waiting six weeks his bowel could
have died if left longer. He made a very quick and steady recovery and was back to training
after two weeks! I am very happy he is better but the impact of listening to him vomit all
day- not just because I feel bad. Because it haunts me, it makes me feel sick to the point even making
gagging noises makes me nauseous. Besides the point. his intestines where switched sides, so his
large intestine is on the opposite of where it was and so is the small intestine. Due to untangling it as it was quite severe.

honestly, all these laxatives mentioned by doctors make the worse and the quiet opposite. So, the only thing I recommend is colon hydrotherapy. I almost died. The doctors not sure why they don't recommend colonic. Laxatves like miralax -- it seems like once you body get used to these laxatives , it does not respond to making you poop. So the colon hydrotherapy is the best solution i found in my case and figuring out a diet .
