@@FrozensAdventures for me it's seeing you out and about again in the great outdoors. I understand though that you have more obligations and your time is probably a lot more constrained!
Yea. The trails are still open at Raccoon but as far as camping the shelters, tent sites and bathrooms are shut down. Park office has been closed too except for a few Rangers still patrolling. The place is so huge though that if you go bushwack off trail could maybe get away with stealth if no fires.
I haven't found a good legal place within a short distance of my house, so my go-to is my back yard. I've got 2 perfectly spaced trees for my Raven. There is a bit of danger involved. In between those two trees is a small lined fish pond. It's about 18 inches deep. If I get careless with the setup, I'll end up soaking wet and scare the heck out of the fish. Then again, if that ever happens, I will just walk 25 yards back inside my house to shower and dry off.
I dont know how to react of this.. lol.. should i feel sorry, or funny.. anyway, hope u can enjoy your backyard camping, coz not everyone had a backyard.. lol..
My wife and I both being in the "essential business" sector and bussssyyyyyy, didn't realize what everyone else was going through having to be stuck in their houses until that is we started getting calls from friends who are bored and scared greatly. Those deer that you jumped had an escape and place to go, many people do not right now. Thanks for the idea of doing something "normal" in abnormal times.
I have a stealth site about two miles back behind the railroad yard. I’ve built a fire pit and a wall to hide the fire. Loved the Vlog. Keep them coming.
Thank you, to take us on this little adventure. I am glad to have a small forrest close to my house here in the north of Hamburg, Germany. Sometimes I do the same - stealth camping. Last time, a badger past by just in front of my hammock when I woke up in the early morning. He stopped for a second, looked at me and walked away.
I’d never gone past my backyard fence until today. Found a great little hammock spot and I own it! Spent the afternoon cleaning it up, setting up camp tomorrow. Good video!
I live right in the middle of a small town but have a little woods behind me. Last week I made a couple new trails. They are only about 80 ft long each, but it's fun to run through starting and ending my daily run.
I moved up to NH late last year, and the new place has a nice chunk of hemlock forest on the back of the property. The only problem is I'm a tarp camper, and I don't think there's a single square foot of flat ground back there to sleep on, let alone set up a campsite. This may be the thing that finally converts me to hammocks.
Haven’t worked in like a month can’t seem to keep myself occupied. Biking a lot. This inspired me to start camping in my backyard. Better than nothing. Cool video! Thanks
Jagger bushes! Love it, I’m from South Hills(Dormont) in PGH. I saw some CRICKS on your hike too! Long story short, I was living in a big rut & got sober, almost three years now and your videos/ Appalachian trail thru hike have inspired me to disconnect with everyday grinds and reconnect with my love for backpacking...
Had to laugh Frozen, I did the same thing last night. Packed up a tarp, hammock and my new DIY under quilt hiked a whole 800 ft back in our woods behind our house and tried out my new under quilt. We had a low of 27 and it did great . Thanks for the video man.
On The Down Hill Side Of Life we do some bike camping and have talked about packing up the bikes, going for a 30ish mile loop ending up back home, but camping in the backyard. We have new bikes that we need to test fit with bags and equipment. But, we are in the Adirondacks and is needs to stop snowing, warm up a bit, and blow less wind -it’s tough and miserable riding into the wind.
I slept on my condo porch last night. Complete with stove and Mountain House lasagna. Which I can only eat if I'm hiking solo. Keep it all going, folks. Improvise, adapt, overcome, eat, sleep, repeat as needed.
Love ya Frozen. Hang in there bud. I was laid off but making the best of it. Followed the whole thruhike last year and I just watched the AT movie. Cried again with ya when you hit the 500 mile mark and when you touched the sign. I’ll be in the AT class of 2021. You are such an inspiration!!!
Thanks for another great episode. It was nice to just let it play on my second computer while working from home. Thanks for keeping me company for a while.
I'm Irish, we are in total lock down. We are allowed a two mile radius from our house for walks, apart from that, its just journeys for food shopping. The only businesses allowed are the essentials. I'm glad to see someone getting out and enjoying hammocking. I had mine up in the trees behind my house yesterday, but I can't sleep there, there are cows in that field. Enjoy your freedom!
@Slippery Storm there were police check points not so far from my house, turning people around in their cars and sending them home. I work with people who are in the "essential" category and most have been stopped, or have gone through check points. One reported being stopped twice within five minutes.
Great video to watch on Easter morning. My son and I made a bunkhouse on our property years ago. I sleep in it once in awhile to get the outdoor experience. Thanks for the over night adventure. Your stuff is always enjoyed.
Don’t stop posting this stuff dude. I haven’t gotten to get farther than 4 blocks from my studio apartment for over a month now. Watching this vid made me extremely happy. It’s out there waiting.
Wow! Amazing. Great video. Thanks for sharing. As a matter of fact I’ve got 30 acres behind my place in southern Ohio. Rolling hills and creeks. Two weeks ago I took a stroll out back and I had a nice walk -it had been a while. since it is early in the year, the usual high undergrowth was still minimal. I found a beautiful grove/peninsula at a place about a mile from the house. I too was tired of being inside so I started clearing a trail to the site about a week ago. I even found about ten flat stones out of the creek 1-2 ft in diameter to make a stone stairway on the ridge leading down to the campsite. Funny how many of us think alike in a time like this! I think it will be a nice place to share with friends in the future, and a great place to test new gear. Be safe and healthy!
The Sam Houston National Forest in Texas has halted all overnight camping anywhere in the forest. This is a real bummer, because during all this down time, I desperately want to be out there to escape the city in all the people. It's a shame that a simple thing like dispersed camping it's not even allowed right now.
PS - Also, if you make mac n cheese in a metal cup or whatever, you can boil off the water. PRO TIP - after you've boiled it down and are ready to eat....add a hunk of your favorite cheese and let it melt. Indulge, sir. You deserve it! Great vid!
Dude! I like how you roll the tarp before sliding your skin down, great idea never saw or thought of that. Thank! Always get something out of your vids!
Man, I need an overnighter like that. I just haven't found a place close where I can go and test the gear, relax, and be in the woods. Thank you for sharing! This motivates me to keep looking for something.
This was a nice trip to tag along with you might not have put down a lot of miles but it was still an outdoor adventure. You sitting and just chatting with the camera/us like an old friend good stuff. We have a nice spot close by the Pinchot Trail lots of back country camping options with no permit needed. Good spots where you can just park and walk in if you don't want to backpack. Awesome vibe from this one. I agree with your outlook on reviews happening to quick on new gear.
Thanks for sharing your "mini-adventure." Seems like any time outdoors these days is welcome. It did feel like I was watching you again on the AT, same old Frozen, matter-of-fact, keeping things simple.
Great video as usual. I’m a Boy Scout leader due to the virus we can’t camp or hike. Next weekend we are conducting a virtual campout. We camp in our yard, cook and work on projects while using our mobile devices. It should be a good time.
Had to laugh when you called them “jagger bushes,” haven’t heard that since leaving the Burgh back in the early 80’s! Thanks for the video and look forward to your Raccoon Day Hike video (if you got to go). Take care Frozen!
Sawyer filters can fail from calcium build-up from backwashing. If you soak them in vinegar for an hour and then use some water they generally come back. I wouldn't back flush mine if I were using it everyday but I do if it's going to be stored for a while. My mini is still going strong after a year or so.
Thank you for this really relaxing and fun video, I think we all feel like you, we wait cooped up in the house all winter, then when it starts to get better weather, we are ordered to stay home, but little trips like this are just what we need ! If we can't go because of our situation it's great that we can go along with you! Thanks also for not dwelling on the Virus, but was great that you took the time to show some fellow feeling for ones who are suffering because of it, then moved on. We are so needing to see and hear about beauty of nature, and getting outside!
Good to see a simple overnight with Frozen. Watched a lot of your thru hike but liked this content a lot. Laid back and just enjoying the outdoors. Think I’ll do a similar trip soon.
I like the overnights. The camp set ups. The gear without the reviews. Yes, I have a local retreat, private land in the James River. Thinking about going tonight. First l need to see if turkey hunters will be out there in the morning.
@@FrozensAdventures I think just the setting. I don't NOT enjoy anything you put out there. Love it all. You just seemed more laid back and stress free. We're all stressed with everything going on around us right now but I could tell that you getting out there, if only for an overnighter......calmed you brother.
As a kid in HS we had a friend with about 300-400 acres behind them. We would spend entire weekends in those woods camped out. Not too far from everything, but secluded and away. Nothing fancy, no expensive anything, just between 2-4 of us campfires and the woods. Being still, present, quiet.... in the woods is as important or more important that the idea of "crushing miles," imo.
Good to see you out again Frozen! I've been exploring a lot of the local nature preserves within a 30-mile radius of my house! It's been an incredible adventure and I've found a lot of very beautiful trail systems, but I'd be lying if I didn't say I was pining for some hiking High Peaks and camping in the Adirondack backcountry! Stay safe and healthy!
Got out for a short hike with a 10 month old and 3 year old today! Figuring out how to do this with little ones so we can hopefully take them camping. There's nothing like nature's playground when all the official playgrounds are closed.
Been long gone from RUclips for the past several months due to job issues and having to travel a lot. I was surprised and happy for you when you mentioned marriage?! Not sure how long ago that was, but congratulations! I myself got married this past August. Good deal man. Take care and thanks again for the content!
I did the same thing last night! Just had to get out. Did 4 miles in on the Uwharrie Trail and camped next to a stream. I feel sooooo much better today.
Thanks for this , great to see ya back out there. I am struggling to find some trails and camping open around home right now so my backyard had been the extent of my journeys since getting of the AT a little bit ago due to this shut down. I wanted to let ya know I am so happy with a piece of gear you mentioned WAY back. The blue waterproof work gloves you mentioned. I used them during my (short lived lol) AT thru hike attempt this year and they were perfect! I had some people ask about them and I sent them to your channel to learn more. I hope to be back out soon to pick up where I left off and complete my thru hike this year 🤞 really hope these shut downs end soon.
I built me a camp site right behind my house and made a nice rock fire pit with a homemade heavy wire screen to sit on top of the rocks to cook hamburgers etc on , is a lot of fun , great spot to test out tents , and have a small creek right there too !!! Enjoyed the video man , stay safe , I am planning on hiking the Shenandoah park this fall with owner of rockfish gap outfitters , should be a large time in the fall colors the whole way , hope the park will be open by then , because now it is totally closed
I camped in my back yard with my son last weekend. Unfortunately, my home is too urban to find a patch of woods far enough from houses. When I was a teenager, some buddies and I had a good stealth spot. It was about 10 minute drive from our houses, and a couple mile hike in the woods behind the local mall. We built a lean to to sleep under, and had a fire ring next to a creek. We’d always take a tent “just in case”, but we always slept in the lean to.
I think you’re definitely right about running tap a water through the sawyer filters, it’s basically a search sentence for the filters for some reason. Thanks and stay safe out there
Thanks for the diversion. We are all climbing the walls waiting for the coast to clear. I've got a spot in the woods. I've not asked permission, but it is public property and it is not posted. As they say, it is easier to ask forgiveness than ask permission. I found a folding chair in the woods and I keep it stashed behind a tree. But other than that it is a stealth LNT site. Keep em coming my friend.
Thanks frozen for the stay at home video. You the schill bro’s & Shug have been a great motivation for me to get back into backpacking and it’s been awesome, can’t wait until this stuff gets better and I can get back in the woods! Thanks again brother keep up the great content👍🏻 Happy Easter 🐰& stay safe!!
Really enjoyed this one ... brings back great memories of my early backpacking days learning from you and watching you check out gear. Looked like a nice relaxing night. Glad you are still working. I'm teaching online each day, and most of my students are "embracing it". Hoping on getting out to Mohican some night and teaching class from my hammock!! Stay safe my friend.😎😎
I've been sneaking out to my woods to forage, since it's Morel mushroom season. I get in 2-3 miles a couple times per week, which sucks by any standard. I went out to the back yard to start fires and play with stoves for a few days. Fighting the urge to spend $ I don't have on gear I don't need now.
Good to see you Frozen! All I can do is overnights or a weekend so I film and upload everything lol. I wish I had a place like that to go to. I live in a suburb, parents live by woods but its not there's and the owners have posted no trespassing signs. Its awesome you have such a nice place close by you can camp out for a night. Enjoy and stay safe.
Just went to Zaleski State Park for a quick overnight. From Cincinnati it is over 2 hours away. Hiked in 2.1 miles and back out the next morning. I don't know why, but a night out alone is a good recharge.
I have a secret spot in the Poconos. Old service road or two then park. Hike a couple of miles to the secret side trail that goes to my spot. Even has a bit of an over look. No one seems to go back there. I never see trash or fire remains or anything. Nice little spot. Perfect for a hammock or two.
Always enjoy a Frozen video, whether it's on the AT or just out in the back woods. I would've watched ten minutes of that campfire with a cup of coffee from my desktop as it looked so inviting. :D I'm still going to work, so haven't had much time for walking, which is what I enjoy, so watching this was fun. Feel sorry for those out of work and hope these one-size-fits-all preventative measures break soon as there could have been wiser ways to go about this depending on geography. Hang in there, everyone!
I had to do the same thing last weekend; went out a mile or so into the woods behind my house to camp. Raccoon Creek was packed- the parking lot at the Mineral Springs was overflowing. Sioux car-camping sites are closed (not sure about the backpacking sites, though). Went to Bavington/Hillman and was way less crowded, of course no overnighting there. Also, I replaced my Sawyer mini with the micro a little over a year ago and have had no problems with the micro
My girlfriend's family owns some private property near the Linville Gorge and her dad had built a primitive campsite with some platforms to set up a tent that overlooks the gorge. We've been spending a lot of time up there!
Yes, the clorine and other chemicals they use to purify the city water if used to back flush the filter and then dries clogs the filter. I’ve done the test with a brand new filter.

For sure man ty!
I agree 100%. I really enjoy your vids and the knowledge you pass on plus your just very pleasant and easy to relate to. Keep it up!
One night trips are some of my favorites. Especially with company. Bring some extra, heavier food. Bring some beers or whiskey. You’re good to go.
Feel like I'm watching the old frozen again.
Good! Thanks for the comment brother!
I agree brother... Love your new shit but bring back some of the old channel once in a while =) positive vibes
I'm interested in getting this going. Is it because I am explaining and going over things? Or do you guys like more camp footage?

Am I the only one that thought that bridge in the beginning was genius? Frickin logs with pallets on top! It would be so simple to build.

@@FrozensAdventures thanks brother! Let's hit the trail sometime this year! I'm over Corona I'm on to Modelo lol :-). Happy easter #GodBless
The showas are great! Thanks for watching!
Yay! Thanks! Quarantine sucks! We enjoyed your get away!
Thanks for the video Frozen! A few weeks ago I camped on my patio, hahahaha, whoooooo wheeeeeee, what an adventure!
Thanks and stay safe out there
Most needed motivation. Just what the doctor ordered.
Thank you Jason. : )
Good to see you up and about again!
Great to see you again. Happy Easter,
Thanks for not being a RUclips sellout. 👍🏾.
Great video. Overnighters are the best. Stay well!
Well unfortunately July is here. I appreciate the videos and the great entertainment! Stay safe dude
Nice to see you out and about again.
Feels good! Now to get on a nice 4 day trip
Thanks, Frozen. That made my day.
Happy Easter!
Back at ya. : )
yes, Tap water if chlorinated will plug up a Filter as does muddy water and even murky water.
Thanks for the video Frozen! It's actually made me think seriously about pitching my tent in the backyard tonight.
Do it up!
That is awesome. My buddy Murica is around there as well.
Yes, the clorine and other chemicals they use to purify the city water if used to back flush the filter and then dries clogs the filter. I’ve done the test with a brand new filter.
