As a multi-generational lifelong Appalachian American from Dawsonville, GA, my ears perked up when Matt said he was from North Tonawanda, NY. As a 'sworn Southerner,' I'm not supposed to like Yankee locations; however, I've made exceptions for only two locations: Cape Cod and North Tonawanda. My father worked in Buffalo for a little over a year, so my mom and I would catch the bus or train to go visit. I was in North Tonawanda for their July 4th fireworks show. I think I would have been around 7 at the time and could not stop talking about how impressed I was. That was 61 years ago and I'm still impressed.
Good luck Matt! I hope you can accomplish more than you ever dreamed.

Clay, you certainly are a gem in the NHRA series to do this for your team and to take it so dog gone seriously. I see actual care and interest in your interviewing which is rare nowadays it seems sadly. Will be looking forward to the this season. I really appreciate your efforts and knowledge.

Thank you so much for a very well-spoken interview! I think people who work on a drag racing team talking about how they got their positions on the team (education and work experiences) is so important for young fans of drag racing to hear. Askinig about this young man's short-term and long-term goals and also talking about his interests outide of the racing work is also excellent for young people to hear. By talking about these things, your videos offer a greater depth of information for all drag racing fans. Thank you very much again and best wishes! (Subscriber)

Great interview Clay and very nice to meet Matt too. I've never rode on a snow mobile either and we rarely get a lot of snow here which is very nice but it's the sub zero we had recently that really hurt but fortunately it didn't last long. My perfect temp range is 85 to 90 with low humidity but we usually get humidity with that and that gets very uncomfortable. Looking forward to moving to AZ in a couple of years.

Interesting Matt brought up going to Lancaster race way . I used to live in Lancaster New York that track was my old stomping grounds. Spent many friday night's at the draggies seen John Force, Dig Daddy and Shirley (chacha) Moldowney there over the years. And many Saturday nights at the roundy rounds on my friends pit crew for the stock cars.

😂 the right gear keeps you warm, we know especially living in the heart of snowmobiling country. That's so true except when its -20 below and you have to still go out and test them still fun as hell but damn cold. You just get to learn how to ride them smarter and what makes you colder.

Grew up outside Buffalo and drove thru N. Tonawanda on the way to Niagara Drag Strip on the back side of the Niagara Falls airport. Closed many years ago but used to go to Lancaster also but on Thursday nights. Lotsa memories.
Thanks for the introductions to the team. I asked that also.

When watching Drag Racing on TV you think that the folks that are working on the cars have been there forever through these interviews we see how all of the new people come in and you'd never expect a car that's traveling 330 miles an hour have a kid fresh out of school.

Just seen your in the lineup for night under fire aswell.! That’s super exciting news for me as Norwalk is only 20 minutes from my house and I already have my tickets for it this year see you there. Also 1 question, I noticed last year when I went to the nationals it seemed like no body really did the famous throttle wack in the pits, is there a reason for this? It had been probably 5 years since the last time I had went and I felt like back then pretty much every fire up did a throttle wack. Either way see you at the end of June, and see you in beginning of August.! Safe travels clay.!

Think it wrong for him to take blame for the clutch, as they’re given the setup, That ain’t meant to say their quality of work, doesn’t count, as their work is what makes “the setup”, happen, to get them W’s.
Got yourself a whole stable of mentors of T/F in the making, there, Clay…

Oh man you guys have got to ride a snowmobile!! That are so much fun to ride. I grew up in Illinois pretty much between Chicago and Joliet so we got a lot of snow during the winters. A couple of my friends who were brothers in the neighborhood had snowmobiles. One had a Rupp 440 Nitro and the other had a John Deere 440 Liquifire. Those things would haul the mail at around 90+mph and they'd run about 80-85 in the 1/4 mile. We had a blast on those things. I would suggest wearing a snowmobile suit because it's cold doing 90 in the winter lol.
