I normally only fish Daiwa and Shimano, but think it is awesome that Bates released a solid, bass capable round reel. I would love to review or try one.
Yes being made in China vs Japan like the zillion and steez is a big deal, the fact these are cnc from for billet of aluminum vs a cast aluminum or magnesium frame would make the price astronomical from any other country, would love a cnc north American made reel though
@@mnjcosby They would be over $500 for sure if they were milled in the USA and people are complaining that they're in the $300-$400 range. For a real that will outlive you. CNC is CNC, whether it's in the US or China.
@@thesonorandesertangler true but as far as I know Bates doesn't make any 6 year service parts availability guarantees like say Shimano, which you can find brand new parts for reels going back over a decade or more, the 3d cnc would be nice, the disposable nature of Chinese goods is not
Bates definitely not made in the USA.. Texas based company, that has its reels produced overseas.... Still a great product.. but Bates should be honest and more upfront.. btw.. congratulations to Bates with their continued success
I WILL definitely own the GOAT Swim 200 and I love my Antares DC MDs

Is bates copying the diawa braking system on that round reel?
It is very similar to the sv spools from daiwa speaking from experience with both, but not quite identical.
Did the Bates rep say they’re made in America?
These reels are nice but not worth the price. I’ll stick with my zillions and steez
Steez definitely not worth the price 😂

cool gear but you can't have a real costing the same price as a mid top tear baitcaster and weights more.
Hundo weighs 5.3 oz, OG weighs 5.0 oz. Hundo LTS weighs 4.7 oz. Not sure where you are finding appreciably lighter reels than this.
What world do these peaple live in... the prices of fishing reels really exposes the greed of these companies
They use quality aluminum. IDK what you're expecting the price to be. A Bantam and Zillion are around the same price point.
