I hoped a run of games for Watson would accelerate his development and massive credit to him - after only 3 starts on left, with a 'baptism of fire' against Millwall, he's supercharged it off the scale! Conditions didn't help our game today, but we deserved the win and came back from behind. It'll take a big weight off the players mindset so they have confidence to play at our optimum level. Tommy deserves a song - how about Pinball (Football) Wizard.
Really pleased how Roberts asserted himself today . Straight at his man at every opportunity. Too many people ready to put the boot in . He changed the game at Preston when he came on. Do people really want him left out ? People now having a pop at Isodor who gives his all and ain’t getting the breaks. He keeps going though . Drop him and we will see what we then lack . Neil had his best game in a long time . No mistakes and two great tackles. Ballard still looks cumbersome at times. Both full backs could be got at. Stoke were a threat . Alese looked knackered when he came off, as he should be. Bellingham strong on the ball . Not going for Rigg in front of goal at the moment either . Maybe he’s a bit tired or fatigued .Still busy though . Well deserved win . Roberts needs some luck like what Watson got for the second . At least he got an assist
Can't agree about Roberts, he needs to step up and prove his consistency or he should be sold in January to free up his wages and allow his fee to be used to replace him 👍🤔
One observation here: if Connelly is frustrated at not getting minutes today, he needs to find yet another club. He’s fortunate Sunderland have taken a chance on him. The team plays with one striker, and have four - five if you want to include Trey Samuel-Ogunsuyi. Not everyone can be kept happy. Ipswich got promoted with an eye-boggling number of forwards last term, and a seasoned international like Kieffer Moore often had to make do with a place on the bench. I very much doubt Connelly was signed on the advice of RLB. It was a ‘needs must’ acquisition, and if Isidor and Mayenda are fit, his minutes will be limited. He could maybe count himself lucky he’s ahead of Naz in the pecking order. Perhaps Trey isn’t ready at 18, but a few weeks ago, people were saying Tommy Watson wasn’t. Give him a go. His development from 18s to 23s has been astonishing, and there’s little wonder he’s being scouted
@ I’m not sure about that. But it seems to me that RLB has quite a small core of players he trusts: Patterson, (possibly Moore), Hume, Ballard, Mepham, Onien, Cirkin, Aji, Neil, Rigg, Jobe, Browne, Roberts, Isidor, Mudle, Watson, and Hjelde (to an extent), and is reluctant to chance anyone else in the heat of the battle. Why else would players like Aouchiche, Ba and Bennette play for the U23s and barely get a look in? To my mind, the boss doesn’t fancy them. I’m ok with that. As long as it’s his decision, and he’s not under pressure from above to pick academy players ahead of them - despite their merits. Daniel Cummings might be an exciting signing if it was to come off, but that would stifle the progress of Trey, Tutierov and Abdullahi, if they’re genuinely being groomed for first-team football. If we’re just f***i g about around the fringes, there’s no point
Horrible playing conditions to be honest, stoke played really well very compact in defence had all the men in 15 to 20 yard formation Stokes keeper was excellent if I say Watson played well Wilson was sooooo unlucky, Jobe was a little under Roberts ran his legs off but ….. I think the conditions hurt both teams if it was on a normal day we possibly would have hammered them
Disagree about Roberts Phil, he is a one trick pony never even looks like scoring to me, not even from the penalty spot. He is of course always welcome to make me east my words.
After missing four gilt-edged chances only one of which the keeper played any part in it was a mixture of elation and relief at the final whistle Again a bit late with the changes.. Credit to every player on the pitch for dealing with those conditions. .RLB let Neil play his way back into form, but we had no real options for his role. Ue's allowing Roberts to do the same, slightly better today, and it looks like Isidor is being afforded the same opportunity. when there is a case for Mayenda to start..Isidor is making a good fist of it but he's still a wide player who can operate through the middle. Mepham plus one other all day long.

Great level-headed content as always mate
Do think we looked even better when Mayender came on .
Very good professional content
Great content. Gratuitous comment - you need to sort your lighting out and maybe sit a little further from the camera 😁.
Keep up the good work.
We need full back coverage in the window.

Agree absolutely, why do we think Rusyn isn't getting seen even from the bench?

Cirkin must be brought back, I don't think Watson has played a single game with Cirkin and I think it will make Watson even more potent

Stop slurping yer coffee, argh, lol.
Tom Cannon was good today Phil, he really gave as good as you get against big Dan. We could use him.

Yeah, well done reggie, Watson wasn't great the first few games. Now he even looks 6 inches taller lol
Thanks for your very informative summary
I think Isidor should not start next game
Great to see Roberts back to his best
Without Wilson Isadore we are toothless thru the middle 👍🤔
