  • Sure, the Pit Boss Titan might look cool with all it's new features, but what happens when we turn up the heat!
    To I will show you how I season my pellet smokers before it's first use
    We then do the biscuit test which YOU should totally do with ANY smoker you have!
    Then we take our 3rd party temp probes from Chefstemps to see what the actually grate temperatures are reading to know if the new Titan runs hot or cold to what the control board says.
    Do consider subscribing as we are ready to hit the ground running with a bunch of BBQ!
    Thanks again guys! Smoke on!

    The internal temp probes are different than ambient temp probes and that could account for some of the inconsistencies in your probe test. Not saying it’s definitely the case, but could be.

    Love the size of the multiple grates. The warming rack on grills in years past was a joke, great looking pit for a pellet cooker. Cheers

    Seeing as they are the same price range, I hope to see a head to head comparison between the Titan and the Elite. Although, I think the Titan will edge out the Elite because of the upgrades. I love the idea of the added dust holes.

      I had 2 of the PB Elite 1600 grills. First one never worked properly I pretty much swapped out every component because of so many issues. “I’m still waiting for a new igniter” which has taken 4-5 weeks and still is not here.
      I was able to exchange it for the same one 6 months after my initial purchase and as soon as I turned it on, it was the same issues all over again. It wouldn’t update the firmware. Wouldn’t connect to my phone or WiFi. I even moved the router to about 10 feet of my grill…so I immediately returned that one because I wasn’t going to go through the same ordeal. The Elite reviews are close to 50-50. You either love it or it’s absolute junk. My wife wrote a review on it and 24 hours later it was taken down. We can not find her review.
      I just purchased this Titan yesterday, I live in Minnesota and I’m making a road trip this weekend to pick it up. Fingers crossed I don’t have any issues with this one. I love pit boss, but the elite is leaving a sour taste in my mouth and this titan will make or break it for me.
      I wish I could take my old 1150 back from my brother lol.

    The only thing I see as a negative feature is the pull out racks. Food is dripping grease and juices, so when you pull them out it will get on your patio or deck or mat making a mess.

    • @gymrtommyd
      @gymrtommyd Месяц назад

      WTH!! this makes life easier. That's what the adjustable front shelf is for. That's the main reason to purchase. other PB that can't adjust racks is 10 year old tech.

    • @e-train6402
      @e-train6402 Месяц назад

      @@gymrtommyd the PB shelf is not as wide as the rack when it fully slids out, if you extend the rack out fully to get to stuff in the back, things will drip on floor. If you can only pull it out part way so it drips on the shelf, what the point of having a full pullout. The Camp Chef 36 Pro has a shelf that equals the length of the rack when fully extended to avoid making a mess to clean up. Love pit boss, and the short shelf is the only negative I see on any of them. Last point, a sliding rack is not "new tech", it's innovation.

    Impressive grill features - I think they have really taken the feature set to another level - we will have to see how it smokes/grills. As part of testing this new pellet smoker it would be great if you could do a couple of cooks where you compare this freedom blend vs Royal Oak charcoal blend.

    Does the manual say to add cooking spray oil before doing the first burn off? You want to burn off all that Chinese protective oils before doing a good seasoning. You’re just adding more oil to burn off. Did you read the manual?
    I guess doing the proper steps doesn’t matter. Doing the bread test might be ok. But doing proper seasoning with a good cooking oil is a must for the whole unit. Heating it up to temperature and letting it cool all the way down, before opening and closing the lid is the best way to season the new unit. Just my opinion.

    The whole thing with the hopper being split baffles me and I’m not sure if anyone else sees this or noticed? When you go to empty out the hopper, it doesn’t release pellets from just one side, but both???!!!! So what really is so different from you just mixing your favorite pellets, 1 or 2 or even 3 kinds of pellets???!!! If it all pours into the bucket once the hopper trap is opened…..doesn’t that defeat the purpose of separating?????? Another thing is the whole biscuit test really just shows how inconsistent your temperature is within your smoker itself, so if you’re trying to cook wings across all your racks, then you’re just juggling the food as your cooking????!!! Plus with the so called temperature probe test, that just tells me that the thermostat location for the grill is located to the cooler side of the grill or where the lightest biscuits where located. The company needed to centralize the internal thermostat (middle of the Grill) to help evenly distributed the heat somehow or is just a case of the blower mechanism sending all the initial heat all the way right??? Just some thoughts & questions. I’d be more interested in which pellet grill performs best (heat) across the whole internal system!!! Thanks 🙏

      Adding cooking spray to the internals is going to cure the steal like it's a cast iron skillet. It will make everything non-stick and will help prevent rust. PID mode will give you consistent and even temps but will produce little smoke. Smoke mode the temp will go above and below the target temp but you will get a lot more smoke 💨

    Pit boss needs to reword all their grills for example: good, better, best. They have way too many grills that have missing features that are extremely hard to narrow down for a buyer. Different control boards, different grate layout and construction. Different sizes, different hoppers, different cleanout designs, searing feature, etc For the average consumer going in to buy one they see grills labeled pro series but then see competition series, then base editions. Onyx, lexington, platinum, titan, sub variants, retailer exclusives. Why dont pro series offer smoke mode? Its absolutely ridiculous 2 grills with the same PID controller or similar and yet pro series skimps out on a smoke mode when your buying a smoker! You gotta in some cases step down and buy the cheaper competition series (prices in several stores) just to get the extra smoke mode or you have to buy a premo model like this to get it. Other brands offer the extra smoke feature on ALL pid controller smokers. Ahhh i hate marketing.
