Sure, you can rationalize it, but you have to recognize that those cows are treated extremely unethically. This wouldn't be accepted in a human concept, imagine a pregnant women, and med students are sticking their hands in her butt, without her consent?? WTF. Is there any fundamental difference between humans and cows that makes it ok to do it to a cow, but not a human? I couldn't find any.
The fact that you were shocked when you saw that you'll stick your hand up to a cow's butt, shows that you are a sane person. It is a violation of the cow, because it was not in cow's best interest, the baby calf who you were touching, was the result of rape. Who will be stolen from their mother immediately after they are born. If he's a male, he'll most likely be murdered and sold as veal, because people enjoy the taste of their flesh. If she's a girl, she'll be sexually abused for 4-5 years, and after she's so exhausted that she can't produce milk anymore, and can't even stand on her legs, she'll be killed too. When normally she could have lived up to 20-25 years. This is insane. The only way to be a sane person in this psychotic world is to live vegan.
So its ok to kill one living thing but not another. You can maim plants and take from them bc they cant scream or make sounds so then its ok. They are living things also. They want to live the same as animals. If you put them in a dark room they will grow towards the light, their roots seek out moisture. They are living just as much as any animal. Because there inner liquid isnt red then you assume that they do not bleed. They need air, food, and water to live just as everything else. Youre just as much a murderer as the person who eats animals. You steal the young they produce just the same. Vegans are hypocrites but you all just rationalize the murder that you commit. If you really care then get your food from a lab so nothing is harmed...
It's more of a violation to that cow if the calf begins rotting inside of it or develops weirdly or isn't facing the right way. That'll kill both the calf and the mom.
And, snowflake, not all farms do that to get milk. A lot of farms allow the mothers to be with the calfs. Also, since there is usually a single calf and the mother eats a lot, it will produce more than enough milk for the single calf. Another thing to note is that the majority of meat cows are male, assuming the calf is even male or going to become a meat cow.
