  • This is a long one, but in this video I return to my little basement classroom to start putting name labels on cubbies and coat hooks, setting up my circle time/whole group area, and further define all of my centers with signing and tags.
    I hope you enjoy this and get some ideas and inspiration!
    Here is a link to my Classroom Center Signs. Center signs are great to use as a visual to help you define your classroom areas for yourself, your aides and your kiddos!

    Hello, I love the way you sep up the class. I have a big class and I needs ideas to arrange the classroom, because I have to walk a lot during the day, can is possible you give it me some ideas please.

      I'm doing a new video in my own classroom today and I will show you how mine is set up. I think If I had a big classroom I would maybe try to have teacher-led centers near free choice centers around the room so teachers can easily see and hear what is going on and step in if kids need some redirection. I have a very small classroom, so you will see that we jam a lot in one small room. I use my classroom furniture to define the areas in my classroom. You might want to make some areas off-limits during center time...it works. the kids cannot play on my circle time rug during center time unless they ask my permission. They just end up wrestling around and being crazy if it is left free. My email is teachprek101@gmail.com. Maybe send some photos of the room and what you have. Its hard to envision what is so different than my tiny place

    Loved that I found your channel! Not many early leaning ones out there! Any tips on classroom management? Do you use. reward system? I’ve been using Green and Red choices from Pocket of Preschool, but I am planning on not doing sticker charts anymore. It has become so distracting and discouraging for some that I need to start something new. Plus it is kind of time consuming too. Any tips?

      I will be adding a classroom management video this weekend. I don't use rewards or green and red choices. I never have. I will tell you why and tell you what I do instead in my video. My classroom is not perfect by any means, my kiddos act out and do all the things that kids that age do...I've even had some ROUGH kids...but I have some things I do that help me keep my classroom running smooth and cut down on behavior issues. We will ALWAYS have hiccups in whatever system we choose, but it is possible to feel more in control and able to handle things...I promise!

    Hi! Thanks for the video! Could you tell me more about takehome folders? What goes in there and do the kids take it home everyday? Thanks again!❤

    • @teachpre-k101
      @teachpre-k101  10 месяцев назад +1

      Sure thing! I provide a folder to keep in each child's backpack. I will put any work we do during the week or any school communication papers as they come up. I do not have things to put in there everyday...but the parents' can also put notes in there for me, and I can send notes home to them as well. It works well because about 90% of the parents of my students work and need a central place to find things from school.

      I got them about 12 years ago at a teaching conference. I cannot find them anywhere! I remember when I filmed this video...I looked for HOURS! I will start a new quest. I love them! I use them in times of emergency or great loudness! LOL! I put them up really high so the kids can't reach them, but even little old short me can...I would love every teacher to have them! I will do a reverse image search in my classroom tomorrow and reply

    Why are centers important?

    • @teachpre-k101
      @teachpre-k101  2 месяца назад

      Great question! Preschool centers are important because young children learn the best through play and investigation. While some adult guidance is great, if centers are set up to allow children to learn about vital concepts like cause and effect in the block center for instance. Kids will learn and practice problem solving, increase vocabulary, learn to share and communicate wants and needs...as well as listening skills, letter and numeral recognition through dramatic play (to name a few), fine motor skills are enhanced at the writing center, learning about print, letters, and story retelling is done in the library center, The math center offers opportunities for counting, patterning, sorting, etc., the sensory center can help kids learn about capacity by pouring things from one container to another, can increase fine motor skills with the appropriate toys...I could go on and on about every center you could imagine in preschool. If materials and activities are play-based...kids will learn through their own exploration. You can add activities that are guided by adults to enhance the academic concepts, but even those activities should be play-based since it is the natural and preferred way for kids to learn.
