Almost a universal rule for Disney (well, it's kind of "in general", but it's particularly prominent with them): The Villains always get the best songs.
They have the luxury of getting the one and only song the kids are not expected to want to sing along to. There are exceptions, but... Not necessarily ones where the movie was good in general. Pocahontas came to mind first. The villain's songs (yes, plural, they gave him two) were shit, but so were all the others. Literally just went through the whole Disney library in my head and could only come up with two where a villain had a song but it wasn't the best IMO: Lady and the Tramp and Aladdin.
@@ThePhantomStinker have you heard all the cancelled jafar songs? they seem to have tried many things, but howard ashman died during making aladdin i believe, he had originally written a song called humiliate the boy for jafar. after he died the story had shifted and 2 new songs were tried, my finest hour, why me, but in the end they went with the reprise probably due to the pacing. all the songs are on youtube, their pretty good

This song has that weird quality of it makes you pity her, but at the same time, you extremely disagree with what she wants and how she goes about getting it. owo Ursula's character is getting deep. It also has a Chicago kind feel to it. I can totally see Roxie singing this behind bars! XD
I relate to Ursula too much with this song. I mean, not specifically the “I want to rule the sea with black magic and eat my subjects” parts but the general feeling of wanting to go back to better days.

Auditioning for Hannigan in Annie in a few months. This is one of my top audition song choices. The good times and easy street are on the same block, right? ;)
I really want disney to create an Epic live action movie about the little mermaid. showing the history of Ursula and Triton, and getting deeper into the love relationships of all of the characters. Presenting Arial as a poor girl in love with a dumb boy. This movie will end like the original story - it will have an important message about true love.
Shachar Har-Shuv they say its 2017. But I hope Disney makes a live action version to rival Universal's version. the Universal take on The Little Mermaid is based off the original fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen. I would love to see Disney do a live action version of the cartoon!
I think it's better to do a live action based on the original story, because disney's version is a lot messed up. Anyway - it's all base on the writer. The writer's good - it'll be good. the writers suck - it'll suck. And of course the acting and the effects, and the music... Anyway, I hope it'll be at least as good as maleficent. Because it can be.

Why would they remove this from new productions of TLM? It's easily one of the best songs in the musical. better be in the live action instead of Daddy's Little Angel, the subjectively worse song that replaced it.
I agree that this song is better, but I think they replaced it because it's an "I want" song, which is usually reserved for protagonists. Such songs introduce the audience to what a certain character wants and make you root for them (e.g. "Belle," "Proud of Your Boy," "Let It Go"). "I Want the Good Times Back" even comes before Ariel's own "I want" song ("Part of Your World"), so it kind of puts Ursula's goals in focus. The production team probably realized this and created a different intro song for Ursula without delving into what she wants. However, I wonder why they chose to use a completely different song instead of rewriting the lyrics. This song is so much fun.

According to another song, he caught "a rare and very lethal flu". Depending on the myths, gods could sometimes die, but only from very weird circumstances. For bonus points, maybe Hades isolated the virus of said "rare and lethal flu" and that's the potion he tried to feed baby Hercules in the Disney movie.

We're doing a production of TLM right now and honestly, I think I prefer Daddy's Little Angel over this. They replaced I Want The Good Times Back with Daddy's Little Angel. When the soundtrack came out, I Want The Good Times Back was in the show.
The first time I heard this song I really rolled my eyes and hated it, and then eventually it became my favorite song in the whole show.

I really want disney to create an Epic live action movie about the little mermaid. showing the history of Ursula and Triton, and getting deeper into the love relationships of all of the characters. Presenting Arial as a poor girl in love with a dumb boy. This movie will end like the original story - it will have an important message about true love.

Shachar Har-Shuv they say its 2017. But I hope Disney makes a live action version to rival Universal's version. the Universal take on The Little Mermaid is based off the original fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen. I would love to see Disney do a live action version of the cartoon!
I think it's better to do a live action based on the original story, because disney's version is a lot messed up. Anyway - it's all base on the writer. The writer's good - it'll be good. the writers suck - it'll suck. And of course the acting and the effects, and the music... Anyway, I hope it'll be at least as good as maleficent. Because it can be.

Its a scale. It's the most old fashioned vaudvillian way to begin a number. Hence used in both these instances when the song was in that style.

Why would they remove this from new productions of TLM? It's easily one of the best songs in the musical. better be in the live action instead of Daddy's Little Angel, the subjectively worse song that replaced it.
I agree that this song is better, but I think they replaced it because it's an "I want" song, which is usually reserved for protagonists. Such songs introduce the audience to what a certain character wants and make you root for them (e.g. "Belle," "Proud of Your Boy," "Let It Go"). "I Want the Good Times Back" even comes before Ariel's own "I want" song ("Part of Your World"), so it kind of puts Ursula's goals in focus. The production team probably realized this and created a different intro song for Ursula without delving into what she wants. However, I wonder why they chose to use a completely different song instead of rewriting the lyrics. This song is so much fun.

We're doing a production of TLM right now and honestly, I think I prefer Daddy's Little Angel over this. It might be because I heard it before this song, or perhaps it's because our Ursula sounds exactly like Pat Carroll from the movie. Not too sure why they swapped these songs, though. They give the same context.
