    Good video JayMac, sorry to hear about that rear diff man. That sounds horrifying to have happen. Glad it's worked out tho. What symptoms indicated that you'd blown it out? I still have not noticed any oil under the hood, trying to keep an eye out but nothing noticeable however I am having some occasional but minor jerkiness in the throttle sometimes during early gear sequences. I plan on doing a update video as well very soon.

      Thanks man. Yeah no worries. Well I'd say first, get used to knowing how your car sounds with the windows up and down. But I heard rattling and creaking noises coming from the rear. Got It checked multiple times then finally found out after about a month. Yes please do. Idk why, maybe the tune affecting the throttle response or gear change.

    Reply and update: I have a 2018 Dodge Charger GT Plus I ordered new from the factory. (6 years old) The GT is AWD and only comes with the 3.6 V-6 Pentastar. I've had it supercharged for about two years and 14,000 miles now. My fuel mileage jumped big. It used to average about 22 mpg and now averages in the 29's. On the Interstate at 72 mph, with the cruise on, she averages 38.9 -41 depending on the terrain. Up from 28, and has a 729 mile range on a single tank. Talk about efficiency? Really, I'm not making this up. This car, even at 4,000 lbs is a toy to this engine. The GT AWD is also the police car version and has heavy duty springs, swaybars, and swingarms from the factory, sits as low as an SRT, and has police special Brembo dual pots on the front. Plenty of brakes and it handles like a sports car, very light on its feet. The handling is amazing for such a heavy car. Partly because it has custom Mopar mags on it with Police Special center-line hubs built into them. The rims stick in as far as they stick out. This allows a wider stance without making the car any wider. Perfectly balanced for the AWD car and you NOTICE IT. But 3,200 dollars for a set of rims was a lot.
    On top of the rims I added a Ripp supercharger kit, hardened head bolts, two oil catch cans, an 80mm ported and polished throttle body, (up from 65 and yes, a Hellcat throttle body on a 6-cylinder engine) ported intake manifolds, giant fuel injectors, and a Borla "S" all stainless exhaust and it dyno's just shy of 600 horsepower to the flywheel, up from 309. She puts down 520 - 540 hp to the ground depending on who's dyno you use. Up from 265. I also added a Tazer to the computer; So I can turn the AWD on or off on command. I run it on the stock 93 octane Ripp tune, in collaboration with my speed shop Red Line Automotive. Who are a bunch of Mopar Heads. It can do 0-60 in the high 4's, low 5's. This thing is a beast and can be very dangerous to drive. It won't spin a tire so you can really surprise a Hellcat with it. Or, because of the 2-stage cams, it purrs like a kitty cat and you can't even tell it's supercharged at all. And everything in between. Your choice. I've had this system long enough that I can't imagine my car without it. So far, NO PROBLEMS AT ALL. The AWD really helps in the Winter, In the Summer, she'll eat a Hellcat for breakfast unless they're really on their game. The fuel mileage is just icing on the cake and I wouldn't own anything else. The key is highway gearing and the Police Special has it. At 72 mph, she only turns 2,000 RPMs. You have a whole another car to go. May my Dodge Charger supercharged AWD SRT-6 live forever. And as long as I don't wrap it around a tree, I expect it will. I have about 50,000 dollars wrapped up in this car. Half the price of a Hellcat with a lot more equipment and plush. And, my intercooler doesn't plug up all the body vents either. My car has brake vents on all four corners and they all work. And yes, all the Charger police cars are all Pentastars. They had a 5.7 Hemi option but it's not AWD and lots of problems with the Hemi's. And of course, they just stopped making them at all. If you can believe that. They even wrecked the plant to make sure they could never make them again.

      @@arnoldbass8709 Yes and Thank You. That post was over a year old and I have 14,000 miles on the system today, still with no problems, other than keeping the catch cans empty. I'm retired and have four cars and two motorcycles, so it doesn't get used as much as I'd like, but it's my daily driver so I do use it often. You wind up babying it. The car can get so radical so fast, you baby it. This is the type of car I've been dreaming about since I was 16, and after 50 years of owning cars, It's finally possible and I have one. I couldn't pass up the opportunity, on a car I ordered new from the factory with every option they make in it. And it's a blessing too. Why? because no more Chargers, Challengers, or 300's after the end of July. You can only buy old leftover stock. My first car was a 1967 Oldsmobile 442 that was never beat in a street race. This Charger could beat it in reverse, and get over 4x's the fuel mileage doing it. Take care and have a good one. Life is good over here. Every time I fire it up, I still smile. And it seems that 2018 was the year to buy. (they've been going backwards since 2020) Why? Because I have several options and standard equipment that is not offered on the new Chargers. Even the sport metal pedals group, the premium stereo, red leather seats and belts, or cooled seats and I could go on. But the price went up almost 15k. No thank you. Very glad I have what I have. Wow.

      I’m wondering how long it can last with the engine and trans .
      Stock the car can go 300k plus

    • @dannysdailys
      @dannysdailys 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@heythere6983 It depends on how you treat it. Even stock, you're not going to get even close to 300k if you beat on it. And I don't. The thing about muscle cars is you have to respect them. And forget the car, or people may die. These are not toys. But I do feel safer with 11 airbags around me.
      The transmission in my AWD Police Interceptor (all AWD Chargers and Challengers) is good for 700hp, so it's plenty strong for my 602. My car, you baby. If you want to live you do. Once that supercharger spools up It gets so radical so fast, you have to baby it, or you're going to wind up through the front of a 7/11. So I wouldn't expect it to last any less. Much more in fact with the way I take care of it and the Amsoil oils I use every 3,000 miles. Mine's a 2018 with two stage cams. That means it loves to lazy around just as much as it does being a rocket. You can see why the police use them. In fact, you can grandma this car and it's happy. It's uncanny. I've only seen 20lbs of boost once. It can do 22. Everything's a blur at 20 and it's like you're in a time warp. You're NOT passing any cars at 20lbs of boost. Believe me. You don't steer it you point it. You won't live too long driving it like that so I don't. Even AWD and Hellcat tires don't help it with that kind of horsepower because a blur's a blur. When it lazies around, it gets 30mpg average and 40 on the Interstate. In a 600hp car that weighs over 2 tons. Really. And the best part is I've had 14 cars in my life and this has by far, the happiest engine. Gearheads know what I mean. It sings. I have catch cans in It (known engine flaw) and it just loves to run, slow or fast, it doesn't matter. And it takes at least 20 thousand miles to even loosen it up, let alone break it in. I'm guessing at least 50k for a full break in, the way it's going. The Charger, even with the supercharger is a serious gentleman to drive, thanks to those 2-stage cams. One of the nicest driving cars I ever drove. No matter what speed you want to go. And I have it decked out with every option on it. From NAV, Beats stereo, and power sunroof, to both front and rear strut tower sway bars.
      The supercharger was installed when the car was still new. It uses open caged snowmobile crankshaft bearings in a liquid sump and I expect them to last a very long time. Liquid bearings almost last forever because there is no metal on metal contact. It's a very simple design with very little to go wrong. And Vortec is one of the best. I have 25k on it now. The Transmission runs hot, but all ZF's do and they use special fluid at 40 dollars a quart that you have to use because of it. My first trans was a GM Turbo Hydromatic 400 in my 442. That thing would melt down at the temperatures my ZF runs at. The Turbo ran at around 160 degrees tops and the ZF doesn't even turn the cooler on at 200. And it takes 120 to even loosen it up when it's cold. That takes some getting used too. And the car itself is a Mercedes E class and I haven't had one problem with it at all. It had two recalls that it fixed itself via satellite? WTF? This is my 2nd Dodge Charger AWD. I had a 2015 stock Charger AWD that I bought used and it was just as trouble free as this one. That's why I ordered this new from the factory. I've never done that before, or ever stay with the same car for that matter. But you could deck it out in 2018 so I pulled the trigger. I got for the 15 what I paid for it. I keep all my cars pristine. To date, with the engine upgrades I have about 50 grand into it. Half the price of a Hellcat and I haven't regretted it. I've been a gearhead for 50 years and this is my first brand new car and this is what I bought and built. I would've never guessed it to be a V-6. It was between this and an Audi A6. But the Audi is a Volkswagen, not a Mercedes. Nice huh? She's 6 years old this year and not a spot of rust anywhere on it. It was built in Canada at the Windsor Ontario plant. But that plant is gone today, so is the Dodge Charger, Challenger and the Chrysler 300. And the 4 billion dollars in sales they brought in every year. Chrysler is finished. Thanks for asking.

    You need a bigger gear ratio to run the supercharger or you will blow the gears. You weren't running possi on the diff in the burnout it was spinning 1 wheel meaning it was already damaged before the break. Overall seems like its a good investment if you have a healthy engine and keep up with maintenance and don't redline and race every person you see. RacerX did a really good review on if a supercharged v6 can beat a 392. They broke down all the problems with the ripp and gave some of the best raw advice you want to hear before buying one. Thanks for the video bro I hope she's still treating you well

  • @mcm95403
    @mcm95403 5 лет назад +5

    You're confusing gear ratio with strength. The V6 cars get a smaller and weaker rear diff than the V8 manual/Scat/Hellcat cars. Sometimes the dealers will order a 5.7 automatic with the wimpy (non-lsd) diff, but only because they don't know better. Upgrading to the larger diff with the bigger axles would be worth it to match the power output of the supercharged V6, but I'm not sure which driveshaft you'd use. I think it would be the same one for a Scat/Hellcat automatic but not sure. It would be a little shorter because of the larger diff.

    • @mcm95403
      @mcm95403 5 лет назад +3

      The smaller, weaker diff is 215mm (ring gear size) and the bigger one is 230mm. That one has the lsd available, heavy duty parts, and works with the beefier axles.

      @@kchappelle Because it sounds like a Hemi. I don't care if a V6 car had twice the power my modded '18 RT has. Respect to this guy for building up a fast blown V6... but I still can't get past the thought of "Imagine if he had started with a Hemi."

    • @fire398017
      @fire398017 5 лет назад

      A blown V6 car can, of course, be very fast. Anything can be with enough money. But there's no substitute for a burbling Hemi. I've had a lot of V6s in the past and I loved them. But the two best cars I've had were my '99 Formula back in the day, and my '18 R/T. Even my T-Type sounded good, but not V8 good.

    • @kchappelle
      @kchappelle 5 лет назад +1

      Tom, Sure there is no replacement for displacement to a certain degree. The problem with the hemi is they don't respond well to just bolting on a blower as well as the v6. The v6 was built really well and can take a considerable amount of boost on a stock motor with no issues. With the v8 you've really got to put a lot of money on a proper build. It needs a lot of upgrades to get it to the point where it can take any decent boost.
      I put a supercharger on my v6 challenger and am running 12 lbs of boost and it goes like stink when I want it to. They've been boosting the v6 pentastar for years in the jeeps with no issues with the extra load on the motor or trans.
      I live in Taiwan. I have a coffee business there. The problem for me with the v8 in Taiwan is the yearly tax on a big motor. The v8 just puts me into a category where it's costing too much to run. With the v6 challenger I'm in a much lower tax bracket. So putting a supercharger on my car in Taiwan gives me scatpac power and still keeping my yearly cost down. I don't care about the sound...only that she goes when I want her too and she kicks ass. I had a flow exhaust on the car, but it was too loud and the drone was giving me a headache. I listen to music on my premium sound system when driving and don't care about noise coming from my motor. The noise kinda reminds me of being a kid, riding my bike with baseball cards in the spokes to make it sound like a motorcycle. All show and no go.

You have the base cheap of the cheap materials. I would recommend buying the upgraded to to put in so it actually handles the power. You have a lot more than stock. you have an open diff. that means unless the brakes engage, one axle will spin, usually the right rear. i believe the v6s use the rear brakes to modulate wheel torque.

      Yes catch can that does pcv re route would take care of that like many gassers I always put on . Especially direct injection motors . Epa doesn't want oil on ground so they send it back through intake . Blow off valve is on intake side so get that pcv hose routed to catch can or ground and wallah no more oil in intake /blowoff valve.

I did find right up underneath the BOV's lip a little oil but no spatter anywhere. When I take my finger and rub its only a just a couple of drops. Nothing major so I guess that's normal. Did you have oil spatter before the catch can?

      JayMac95 ok well I emailed RIPP and this is what Chris said Crank case ventilation coming out of the blow off valve, check if the PCV valve is installed correctly so your not pushing boost pressure into the valve covers. Do you have an oil catch can installed on your engine? If so can you send me a picture of how it's set-up? The pentastar engines always have a ton of oil going through their crank case vent system, some engines can be more then others. A simple catch can will help this problem but first check the PCV valve is operating properly and installed correctly
      I also called and spoke to Chris letting him know that I did have a catch can and he asked me how often I empty the can.i told him frequently because it fills up quickly.he then said that it could be because the can is overfilling causing it to go through the intercooler and supercharger and reaching he intake.made sense.how often do you empty yours?i had an extra catch can lying around so I hooked that one up as well to see if it stops.ill keep you updated.

    • @JayMac95
      @JayMac95  6 лет назад

      Hmm, I guess that makes sense but they give you a 4oz bottle to fill it with and that's what I use. Also, the supercharger oil is like pink, but the oil in the hood looks like brown or engine oil 🤷🏾‍♂️. But other supercharged guys said they dont see anything.

    • @kchappelle
      @kchappelle 6 лет назад +1

      No that's not the problem. The oil is coming from his oil breather from the pcv valve. The oil vapor is coming from the breather and going into his intake before the supercharger. The supercharger is compressing the oil vapor with the fresh air coming into the engine. Then when the blow off valve discharges the compressed oil vapor is blowing out and on to his hood. He should have a catch can between the oil breather and the air filter housing to catch the oil vapor. If he has one...it's not doing it's job and should try a different type. I personally would not redirect the oil breather back into the air intake because he's getting dirty oil all over the supercharger blades. I would just cap the oil breather line with an air filter and let it vent to open air. I have a V3 vortech on my V6 challenger and have my oil breather vented to open air with a filter. Don't want that shit going threw my supercharger. Keep it nice and clean. The oily supercharger blades will attract dirt to them.

    • @JayMac95
      @JayMac95  6 лет назад

      @@kchappelle thanks for your input and knowledge man. No I have a catch can. But I think I figured out where it's coming from. The blow off has a separate line hooked to the top of the engine.
