Undervolt your RTX 3060 Ti for more FPS! - Tutorial

- Undervolting really seems to be the best option in terms of GPU optimization for the 3000 series. Be it a 3090, 3080, 3070 or even a 3060 Ti, I’d still recommend doing it. If you do it properly, you’re gonna lose virtually 0 performance or even get an increase, while dramatically reducing heat and power consumption. Today we are featuring an MSI RTX 3060 Ti Gaming X Trio with three fans and using a 550W 80 Plus Bronze FSP PSU!
We used MSI Afterburner, here's the download link: www.msi.com/pa...
The software in the background is Heaven Benchmark, here's the link: benchmark.unig...

Man this is insane! I'm using a Galax RTX 3060 Ti and benchmarking with Heaven, temperature dropped from 72°C to 67°C, wattage dropped from 200W to 165W. FPS increased from 83 to 89, MIN FPS from 8.0 to 31.9 (lol), overall score increased 7%.
I’m really happy about it my man, thanks a lot for taking the time to write this :)
Hey man. I'm using the same card as you. Similar results. Mine is staying at 30-40w usage on idle. Do you get that?
Might want to mention checking the windows logo in the top right corner, to have the profile "Apply at Windows Startup". Other than that, great video dude. Short and directly to the point. Saving power everywhere. A scholar and a gentleman.
That’s great advice, I’ve got quite a bit of comments asking how to set it to start with windows! Thanks a lot for pointing it out and I really appreciate the support, have a great day! :)

First time undervolting. Tried the beginning portion of Shadow of the Tomb Raider. I was getting around 84 degrees at 100% GPU utlization, max preset settings, around 160 fps with no undervolt. After following the video I was getting around 73-75 degrees with the same performance (175 fps average) or even better (didn't test enough since I was more interested in temps). Thanks man!

that's weird, which brand is it? mine is pny and 73° is likely to be the highest temperature i've seen.

@@CampeonZis ur case pretty compact? Or not a lot of airflow? 70-80 c is fine but pretty hot over time. Shouldn’t damage the card and that’s all that matters, but I couldn’t take that kinda heat lmao my pc sits up on my desk right next to me as I game and my 3060 TI gets to around 63-68 while pushing it to its max. Thanks dude for making a tutorial straight to the point! My GPU power draw went from 200W on average to 160W. This difference is what my 240Hz monitor currently draws. This will definitely help during winter.

Just tried this with my Gigabyte RTX 3060 Ti Gaming OC and temps went down from 67 to 62, while having pretty much the SAME score on Heaven Benchmark!!! Thank you for the video, 10/10!
Edit: just noticed my card was running at 1900 Mhz even when idle, if you don't want this to happen just go to the Frequency/Voltage graph (ctrl + f) and press L again (the vertical yellow line should be gone).

@@FrankieMankie yes, and its drop from 1900 to 1710
@@zjaranyjoe7456 Hmm thats weird, maybe your GPU has a Bios option on the card that you can switch? (I dont know if that has anything to do with the problem)
Pressing "L" in the curve will lock your GPU to that voltage so at idle you'll be running at 50-60 watts and clockspeeds won't drop, I'd recommend against locking on the curve
Thanks! My gpu was consuming 45w on idle when it was locked.
Bro made normally 18min video in under 2 minutes. Youre the MVP.

Undervolting was nice and good for gaming but the moment where you press L on the curve and apply is where my idle / browsing / watching videos raised from average 15w-18w to 47w-49w constantly.
So basically it's a permanent strain on the gpu when not doing any GPU intended tasks
Edit:
Also my heat went up during non intended GPU tasks from 47°C to 56-58°C
Measurement software: HWiNFO64
It worked for my Zotac, 3-5 degrees Cel lower than my previous temps and also improved the FPS. Thank you so much for this!

You’re way too kind, I still can’t believe I reached 10k subs because they seem like a lot to me ahahah. Glad I could help :)
If any of you are wondering what the "L" key does, it seems to lock the GPU mhz at max, even on idle. That's not good, i just want to squeeze it's potential when needed so i just decided to skip that "l" step. And everything seems fine, so far. Ty sir
Well said! The “L” is only needed if you enable the profile just for gaming. If you’re keeping it 24/7, don’t hit it. Also make sure to subscribe to the channel, it’s part of the tutorial :p

Dude thank you so much. Here is my experience. I didn't use heaven benchmark to be honest because it didn't work for me for some reason. So i used superposition. Without undervolt i got 6974. (very low for an 3060 ti but i do only have single channel ram). But after the undervolt i had 7200 which was an heck of an improvement. Only problem, a mild one, the temperature increased by 1. It was 72 before and now 73. Other wise excellent. Also sorry for the long essay lol.
That's really nice! I think you left your fan speed on auto, hence why the temp was pretty much the same, it was probably running a bit quieter! It has to be lower while undervolted :)
@@ImWateringPSUs Alright thank you
@@Catchity ;)
this one degree makes literally zero difference, you May want to up your fan speed if your bothered by it. Still 73 degree under full load is fine
Actually you got 3% increase only. It means that if your game runs at 60fps, after that you get 62. I got 9700 with dual channel in this benchmark...
Holy shit, just tried this and my temps dropped almost 10 degrees with barely any performance loss. Thank you so much! To the point, no nonsense and working in a little over a minute.
Good Tutorial, but please skip the "Press L" part, cause that's just unneccessarily making the GPU draw more power when idle.
You’re right, it‘s at 40watt now (7-10w before this) and I get get it back to normal, even through resetting
Yup, if you’re gonna keep the profile on at all times and not just in game there’s no need to hit the L key!

Hi, I have your same specs and I have done everything like you. My games now work fine, smooth and during gaming GPU temparture are around 50 °C max! But I don't understand why you have to put memory clock to 700 Mhz. Doing this I see that the frequency of usage of the vram is always at the maximum (7.70/7.70 Ghz) and the GPU frequency is 1.8/2.1 Ghz: I see these value for example surfing internet, video streaming, ecc (so not during "stressfull" activitise). Is that normal? Is that safe? Can you explan what is the meaning of these value please :)?
Thank you anyway
First of all, I’m really happy it was helpful! If you do not press the “L” key when setting the curve, you card will regularly downclock when not used, so you can do that! Regarding the memory overclock, it’s just there to give you a 2-3fps boost basically for free, but you can definitely do without!

@@ImWateringPSUs Hey may I ask I experienced something on my playthrough on spider-man remastered when I was playing it without undervolt I have 90-60fps when it dropped suddenly to 60 fps it dropped so hard or stutter then I used this method the game went 80-100 fps BUT after 5 minutes it always crashed even my pc crashed my gpu is OCPC 3060TI. Please reply thank you
5800x3d + Palit 3060Ti Dual reporting:
heaven benchmark
default : score 3604, fps 143,1 , min 43,9 , max : 169,4
UV with your settings : score 3643, fps 144,6 , min 54,1 , max 171,7
temps and watt are dropped a lot, in MW2 temps drop from 76 to under 60 and power usage drop from almost 200w to 120w!
thank you!

- run heaven benchmark
- run msi afterburner
1. power limit and temp limit max, save as a profile (baseline)
2. ctrl + f, opens curve thingy
3. slide core clock all the way down
4. bring 900 mv point bring up to 1900 mhz
5. apply safe offset memory clock 700 mhz
6. apply changes (checkmark thingy in the bottom)
Thanks a lot for taking the time to write an easy to follow transcription!
I have to tell you that i didn't believe this one bit but i was in a desperate state. I just bought msi ventus 3060 ti 2x 1x8pin recently and when i first installed it temperature was 50c idle, 85-90c on every game. i didn't want to break the warranty but i had to change thermal paste and pads so i did. temperature was dropped actually 30c idle and around 70c on not very demanding games. but in rdr2 it was around 84-85c, stutters here and there and it was very loud.
i tried to improve ventilation, even added another case fan. but there was no change.
then i saw your video. 1900 mhz didn't worked for me, heaven started to stutter. and i tried 1800 mhz on core and 500 mhz on memory. now i get 69-70c while i play rdr2 and the performance is way smoother than before.
great video. every 3060 ti owners should try this.
Thanks a lot for the detailed comment and I’m really happy it was helpful! Have a great day :)
What voltage did you apply for 1800mhz after 1900 didn't work? 0.9? 0.85? 0.8?
@@sadekgheidan Right now I'm using it at 1815mhz/881mV.
@@speckledspeckles Thank you for the info. I'll try similar parameters for my card.
bro it worked unexpectedly, decreased temp better fan sound and same performance I'll update

tested this in dead space remake, i was getting 80-85fps with 73°... after the undervolt i'm getting around 95-103fps with 61°.. meh if this is gonna be same kinda result for all games ur gonna be my new hero
It is gonna be the same result indeed! I'm very happy it was helpful, take care :)
crazy difference, went from 75+ degrees in cyberpunk to never above 70, fan RPM is also like -500, coil whine is non existent, thanks alot bro!

@@ImWateringPSUs hit you with a sub bro
Honestly The best thing I have found on youtube for a 3060 TI.
Mine overheats like crazy, over 91C on anything with raytracing,
But now running at 77C MAX with Cyberpunk and 93 mods, raytracing overdrive.
Excellent Video. Liked and Subbed.

Bro did not know how to do undervolt on this card, your video helped me a lot my temps are better, but sometimes i got a little stuttering in my games
Whatever thank you

Thanks mate. I'm about to receive my first gpu. Will this thing void any kind of warranty of the card?
Nope, it’s gonna be perfectly fine. Glad you’re getting your first GPU, happy gaming and consider subscribing to the channel!
I have a PNY 3060ti and it went from 90c to 75c and it increased my fps but my watt is still the same , overall very good turorial ,Thanks!

I don't know if it is due to something in particular, but my 3060ti has dropped 20 degrees, and the consumption went from 200 watts to 130 watts, I haven't noticed any loss of fps, thank you.
My man! Glad I could help, consider dropping a sub to support the channel :)
DUDE you dropped my temps by 10 degrees just like that! Thanks bud!
Every "undervolting" tutorial with lowering clock/voltage curve is BS. Move it UPWARDS and flatten that curve at desired level and desired voltage. My 1070 draws 30W less than in factory settings and I have no performance loss.
I’m really happy it was useful!
The profiles I suggest do not use a lowered curve. They just lower the curve temporarily to avoid having to flatten it manually, but it actually runs at a frequency higher than default and at a lower voltage. Mine is a proper tutorial, try it out!
@@ImWateringPSUs "it actually runs at a frequency higher than default and at a lower voltage."
Until you hit the power limit - if you do, performance will be MUCH worse. Frequency will be much lower, and voltages will be higher for that clock speed, than in stock settings - meaning lower efficiency. Set 66% PL and you'll see, what I'm talking about.
On my 1070 I set 1835 MHz @ 862 mV and 1620 MHz @ 750 mV - that's 200 MHz above stock. At 100% PL, my power draw dropped from 150 to 120 watts for higher clock speed and no performance loss and to 100 watts and lost 5% of performance for the lower one.
Nothing crazy but got about 5c less on my 3060ti strix with these tips.im always a bit scared to mess with stuff like this but you made it look so easy so it was worth of trying haha.
I’m really happy it was helpful! Thanks a lot for taking the time to write this! :)
thank you very much! tried this today, 1900 mhz keep crashing, but tried 1850 at 900mV +700 works stable, also dont click the L key for lower power and temp when idle.
Full load max temp now is 69C in furmark, no undervolt and oc reaches 75C
Idk my idle temp before but now its around 45C idle with around 10W, no big deal since our place is pretty hot and without air conditioner.
tried this with re4 remake, no stutter, and fps increased 10-20, 100% util with only 65C max

I'm just speechless, but, what I don't really get is, what the hell did you just did? I'm truly impressed, but I wanna know what just happened. Could you explain it to me?
MSI GamingX RTX 3060ti results: Max. temp: 70C to 62C | Power consumption: 217W to 183W | Performance boost: +5-6% waay less noise, thanks a lot!
