Theres proof for science, and theres also proof about history, because of things you can look at today, just go to your local museum. Well actually, interpreters of the Bible are a crucial part of every hermeneutics class. Christianity also played an integral part in the history of Philosophy. Further than that even, a good chunk of Philosophy deals with questions of theology. Still, you'd have a hard time actually finding God in any of those

I know this probably doesn’t matter cause this comment was 8 years ago but we watched this movie in our religion class and what the Professor was doing was forcing all his students to say they didn’t believe in God for a good grade. The main character Josh then stood up for his faith and wanted to let the class choose what they believed and he went against the teacher and the teacher himself said he hated God but then Josh told him “How can you hate someone who doesn’t exist?” Originally the Professor was Christian and all this stuff happened.

I am an atheist, and I would just like to clarify that an atheist who believes in a God does not qualify as an atheist. Atheism, fundamentally, is the lack of a belief, so spewing hate toward God because you didn't get your toy does not make you an atheist, it just makes you childish. True atheism is accepting that the concept of God that is taught to us does not exist in the observable/verifiable universe. The movie is fundamentally flawed in its effort to "help" atheists, if that is the intention of the movie. Otherwise, it's just a meaningless, poor attempt at self-justification.
Firstly, not to be rude, but stop misusing the word "theory". It is not a belief based on theories, if it was, then religion would surely be dead, because a theory is "a coherent group of tested general propositions, commonly regarded as correct, that can be used as principles of explanation and prediction for a class of phenomena." Neither atheism or religion can be tested, and neither of them are based on "theories". Nobody told me anything about what I believe. I lack a designation toward any formal religion, so I am an atheist. What makes anyone think Christianity would be the correct religion, anyway? What about Judaism, or Buddhism, or Islam? Are the followers of all those religions going to hell? Christians (and other religious followers) have picked a religion for some arbitrary reason, without any more evidence than any other religion. What if the correct religion is one that has not even been formed yet? Followers of any particular religion make a wager that theirs is the correct one. In reality, wouldn't it be best to live as a person who treats others respectfully and lives compassionately without any ulterior motive (i.e. getting into heaven, 72 virgins, etc.)? If there is a God, why not show it how much you appreciate the gift of life by accepting all humans equally, instead of pitting religions against one another by asserting that yours is the better one? Do you not think a God would appreciate that much more than mindless worshipping?

No, when I came To the USA, every time I see a TV show I see Christianity made fun of. I was in college back in 2010 HERE in USA. I saw out right disdain for Christian beliefs on campus, in my classes all my professors seemed to feel desperate NEED to do what they saw as de- program People with beliefs. My first philosophy professor was a devout Christian. His view that all reason derives from a perception that is comparative has influenced me to this day even though its path back to Big Daddy, Junior, and The Spook I found unsatisfactory.
I am Christian, and have been my whole life yet I COMPLETELY despise this movie. Some storylines are okay, and possibly heartwarming, but as a Christian woman raised with a Muslim dad I couldn't help but see how ignorant and narrow-minded this entire movie is. Anyone and anything that wasn't Christian in this movie was put in a bad light, especially Muslims, Atheists and Chinese people. Beginning with the girl who grew up in a traditional Muslim family, and was 'secretly Christian'. The sound of that plot itself is unrealistic, but they made it so against Islam it looked like pure stereotype. Starting with the stereotype of 'Muslim women not actually wanting to wear a hijab'. The fact that she did it for her dad was fine as I sometimes wear one if I'm in his country out of respect, but the way they made it look like she hated wearing it or was forced to wear it was just plain stupidity as real Muslim women I know choose to wear their hijabs for their religion and no one else! Then came the entire dads reaction thing!! I couldn't believe my eyes at the blatant ignorance and propaganda displayed in front of me! Making the Muslim man in the film seem abusive and violent, kicking his daughter out of the house for being Christian! This really hit me as a Christian woman with a Muslim dad, as my dad, would never lay his hands on me in violence- and definitely wouldn't kick me out of the house. On this part I have to remind you of all the teen kicked out of churches and Christian homes for being gay. Something much more common but the people around me when watching this movie chose to ignore. Then of course was the literal point of the entire movie: debunking atheists. Obviously this movie couldn't have even possibly tried to do that normally, no, they had to make the main atheist a literal psychopath who used to be Christian but lost his mum at 12 to cancer and has a Christian girlfriend who he is insensitive towards. Oh and he just happens to suddenly confess his belief in God after he gets hit by a car and and later dies. No bias whatsoever😂. Then comes the Chinese guy. Can't be an American propaganda-like movie without hating on the Chinese. I have honestly nothing to say except do you really think any of that storyline was realistic? Honestly? Just honestly I was cringing from the ignorance and trashiness of this film throughout. If you haven't seen it don't waste your time. It is blatant propaganda, and if you showed me an outline of this storyline I could tell you within the first sentence that it is by some Christian group in the Southern states. If you can't see the bias and honest racism/islamophobia/stereotypes in this movie you are blind.

I like it. First, create someone evil. That would be an educated person at a University...the #1 fear of the Faith. Then, create a straw man...a person or thing which represents something difficult to overcome, but is actually easily defeated. Toss in a "thorn in the flesh", a cute girl who antagonizes our hero from his appointed rounds. You then declare that a few silly assumptions prove your point and have everyone cheer at the end. That's why they're making the second one.

is it ok to be an atheist? my cousin showed me this movie and i felt afraid to tell him i dont believe in god. he's a couple years older than i am and goes to a private christian high school. he started talking about how if people don't repent that they're not going to heaven and it made me think about what a heaven where everyone believes the same thing must be like. i thought to myself how beautiful the world is not because we all praise one god but because we can celebrate such diverse beliefs and cultures. after seeing this movie and it's portrayal of atheists as vengeful and small-minded, it made me hope that not all christians think of me that way. i was raised in a household that values tolerance and acceptance of those who are different. i guess if Pureflix' goal was to get me to begin thinking about the chrisitian concept of god - mission accomplished. i just didn't see the positive message i think they were aiming for. someday i hope my cousin comes around and accepts atheism as just as valid a belief system as his own.

Actually, we can detect, measure, and prove that oxygen exists. There is not one piece of evidence for God, and plenty of good reasons to believe such a thing is completely impossible and just a figment of human imagination.
This movie is truly an inspiration. where I am, I feel as though I am a loner who will be dropped as a friend for admitting my faith. I read the real life stories that this movie was based on for a project and it's truly incredible. it's amazing to see students who struggle and still defend their faith with the truth of the bible. I reference this movie all the time. it's great and I look forward to the second movie!

I took a philosophy history class where a Christian wanted to debate with the teacher. Most of the students where trying to get a humanities credit and were not stoked on philosophy. We had a lot to cover and everyone wanted to get through the entire class on time.

That last scene “why do you hate god?” pretty much sums up most Christians who don’t understand what atheism even is lol.. you can’t hate something you don’t even believe exists. This just shows how simplistic their brains are that they can’t understand that very simple concept. It’s like me asking why you hate the tooth fairy because you don’t believe it exists.. one of the main reasons I left Christianity was because of this.. because of how simplistic other Christians minds were and observing how they give wrong answers to questions all the time.. I observed countless intellectual errors amongst them so it led me down the road of doubt like “if they’re this ignorant about simple things, why on earth would I believe them when it comes to Christianity or a God??” This planted the seed.. their stupidity is what did it for me.. it allowed me to open my mind and realize other things like the fact that people wrote the Bible and it’s nothing more than claims that can’t be demonstrated and how indoctrination works.. I watched CinemaSnob review this and... yikes. From what I saw, the film relieved heavily on strawmen, the two main characters were both selfish pricks with no likability, there were way too many plots happening, the story jumped all over the place, and the resolution is so freaking forced. If God exists, he's probably pissed off at the makers of this film, and who can blame him?
As a christian I agree that athiest's were unfairly represented in this movie. We are all friends with athiests and christians alike and respect each others belief. The character of josh and his "trial" of god was pretty solid tho when discussing the existence of God. In my opinion i think science and the bible go hand in hand. The creation is 6 days to God but later on in the bible, it says that 1000 years on earth could be just one day to God or even longer. Evolution could have easily have happened in that time frame. I hope one day pureflix makes a christian movie that has athiests in a more positive and open minded light.

I went back to college as an adult in 2010.and THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I WENT THROUGH.. luckily..I got through it with.my faith in God intact.. my faith in higher education.. devastated.. forever.. but it's inspired me to write TRUE representaions of Christianity and of secular teachers..as I have personally experienced THEM.

I took four philosophy classes in university, and none of my professors were like this. Two of them were atheists, one was a Christian, and one was agnostic. All they did was present philosophical ideas and hold respectful debates amongst the class, none of which they participated in themselves and only moderated. The way this movie portrays atheists is not only asinine, but intellectually dishonest.

My older brother used to be a Church going person but nowadays he doesn't attend church like I do but he does believe in God. My first assumption was that he's an atheist but in reality, he's not. He still believes in God but he doesn't believe in attending church will make him a better person. He just believes in God and that's it. If I had to ask him about it. I would say, "Jason, Mom says that you believe in God but you don't believe in attending church. How do you explain that?"

Can I have an example? Just curious, as I’ve never encountered such a thing. Certainly, if you take a class, it’s the professor’s job to teach you the subject and not about their beliefs. A biology professor, for example, cannot quiz you on religion, as that is not his or her job. He has a duty to teach you about evolution because that is the primary theory of biology and one can scarcely teach the subject without it. Each course has a syllabus and learning objectives; ignoring them would defeat the point. I would concede that some professors talk about their politics and beliefs from time to time, but I’ve never had my grade in the balance of such matters.

While private schools aren't bound by the same legal restrictions as public schools, a nonsectarian private school shouldn't be showing this because it has no educational value. I know this probably doesn’t matter cause this comment was 8 years ago but we watched this movie in our religion class and what the Professor was doing was forcing all his students to say they didn’t believe in God for a good grade. The main character Josh then stood up for his faith and wanted to let the class choose what they believed and he went against the teacher and the teacher himself said he hated God but then Josh told him “How can you hate someone who doesn’t exist?” Originally the Professor was Christian and all this stuff happened.

I am an atheist, and I would just like to clarify that an atheist who believes in a God does not qualify as an atheist. Atheism, fundamentally, is the lack of a belief, so spewing hate toward God because you didn't get your toy does not make you an atheist, it just makes you childish. True atheism is accepting that the concept of God that is taught to us does not exist in the observable/verifiable universe. The movie is fundamentally flawed in its effort to "help" atheists, if that is the intention of the movie. Otherwise, it's just a meaningless, poor attempt at self-justification.
Firstly, not to be rude, but stop misusing the word "theory". It is not a belief based on theories, if it was, then religion would surely be dead, because a theory is "a coherent group of tested general propositions, commonly regarded as correct, that can be used as principles of explanation and prediction for a class of phenomena."
Neither atheism or religion can be tested, and neither of them are based on "theories". Nobody told me anything about what I believe. I lack a designation toward any formal religion, so I am an atheist. What makes anyone think Christianity would be the correct religion, anyway? What about Judaism, or Buddhism, or Islam? Are the followers of all those religions going to hell?
Christians (and other religious followers) have picked a religion for some arbitrary reason, without any more evidence than any other religion. What if the correct religion is one that has not even been formed yet? Followers of any particular religion make a wager that theirs is the correct one. In reality, wouldn't it be best to live as a person who treats others respectfully and lives compassionately without any ulterior motive (i.e. getting into heaven, 72 virgins, etc.)? If there is a God, why not show it how much you appreciate the gift of life by accepting all humans equally, instead of pitting religions against one another by asserting that yours is the better one? Do you not think a God would appreciate that much more than mindless worshipping?

In the US, not so much. People telling you that they don't want to hear about your beliefs and that they are wrong is not persecution. No, when I came To the USA, every time I see a TV show I see Christianity made fun of. I was in college back in 2010 HERE in USA. I saw out right disdain for Christian beliefs on campus, in my classes all my professors seemed to feel desperate NEED to do what they saw as de- program People with beliefs. It was more subtle than the movie, but not much.

My first philosophy professor was a devout Christian. His view that all reason derives from a perception that is comparative has influenced me to this day even though its path back to Big Daddy, Junior, and The Spook I found unsatisfactory.
I am Christian, and have been my whole life yet I COMPLETELY despise this movie. Some storylines are okay, and possibly heartwarming, but as a Christian woman raised with a Muslim dad I couldn't help but see how ignorant and narrow-minded this entire movie is.
Anyone and anything that wasn't Christian in this movie was put in a bad light, especially Muslims, Atheists and Chinese people.
Beginning with the girl who grew up in a traditional Muslim family, and was 'secretly Christian'. The sound of that plot itself is unrealistic, but they made it so against Islam it looked like pure stereotype.
Starting with the stereotype of 'Muslim women not actually wanting to wear a hijab'. The fact that she did it for her dad was fine as I sometimes wear one if I'm in his country out of respect, but the way they made it look like she hated wearing it or was forced to wear it was just plain stupidity as real Muslim women I know choose to wear their hijabs for their religion and no one else!
Then came the entire dads reaction thing!! I couldn't believe my eyes at the blatant ignorance and propaganda displayed in front of me! Making the Muslim man in the film seem abusive and violent, kicking his daughter out of the house for being Christian! This really hit me as a Christian woman with a Muslim dad, as my dad, would never lay his hands on me in violence- and definitely wouldn't kick me out of the house.
On this part I have to remind you of all the teen kicked out of churches and Christian homes for being gay. Something much more common but the people around me when watching this movie chose to ignore.
Then of course was the literal point of the entire movie: debunking atheists. Obviously this movie couldn't have even possibly tried to do that normally, no, they had to make the main atheist a literal psychopath who used to be Christian but lost his mum at 12 to cancer and has a Christian girlfriend who he is insensitive towards. Oh and he just happens to suddenly confess his belief in God after he gets hit by a car and and later dies. No bias whatsoever😂.
Then comes the Chinese guy. Can't be an American propaganda-like movie without hating on the Chinese. I have honestly nothing to say except do you really think any of that storyline was realistic? Honestly?
Just honestly I was cringing from the ignorance and trashiness of this film throughout. If you haven't seen it don't waste your time. It is blatant propaganda, and if you showed me an outline of this storyline I could tell you within the first sentence that it is by some Christian group in the Southern states.

I like it. First, create someone evil. That would be an educated person at a University...the #1 fear of the Faith. Then, create a straw man...a person or thing which represents something difficult to overcome, but is actually easily defeated. Toss in a "thorn in the flesh", a cute girl who antagonizes our hero from his appointed rounds. You then declare that a few silly assumptions prove your point and have everyone cheer at the end. is it ok to be an atheist? my cousin showed me this movie and i felt afraid to tell him i dont believe in god. he's a couple years older than i am and goes to a private christian high school. he started talking about how if people don't repent that they're not going to heaven and it made me think about what a heaven where everyone believes the same thing must be like. i thought to myself how beautiful the world is not because we all praise one god but because we can celebrate such diverse beliefs and cultures. after seeing this movie and it's portrayal of atheists as vengeful and small-minded, it made me hope that not all christians think of me that way. i was raised in a household that values tolerance and acceptance of those who are different. i guess if Pureflix' goal was to get me to begin thinking about the chrisitian concept of god - mission accomplished. i just didn't see the positive message i think they were aiming for. someday i hope my cousin comes around and accepts atheism as just as valid a belief system as his own.

That last scene “why do you hate god?” pretty much sums up most Christians who don’t understand what atheism even is lol.. you can’t hate something you don’t even believe exists. This just shows how simplistic their brains are that they can’t understand that very simple concept. It’s like me asking why you hate the tooth fairy because you don’t believe it exists.. one of the main reasons I left Christianity was because of this.. because of how simplistic other Christians minds were and observing how they give wrong answers to questions all the time.. I observed countless intellectual errors amongst them so it led me down the road of doubt like “if they’re this ignorant about simple things, why on earth would I believe them when it comes to Christianity or a God??” This planted the seed.. their stupidity is what did it for me.. it allowed me to open my mind and realize other things like the fact that people wrote the Bible and it’s nothing more than claims that can’t be demonstrated and how indoctrination works..

I watched CinemaSnob review this and... yikes. From what I saw, the film relieved heavily on strawmen, the two main characters were both selfish pricks with no likability, there were way too many plots happening, the story jumped all over the place, and the resolution is so freaking forced. If God exists, he's probably pissed off at the makers of this film, and who can blame him?
As a christian I agree that athiest's were unfairly represented in this movie. We are all friends with athiests and christians alike and respect each others belief. The character of josh and his "trial" of god was pretty solid tho when discussing the existence of God. In my opinion i think science and the bible go hand in hand. The creation is 6 days to God but later on in the bible, it says that 1000 years on earth could be just one day to God or even longer. Evolution could have easily have happened in that time frame. I hope one day pureflix makes a christian movie that has athiests in a more positive and open minded light.

I took four philosophy classes in university, and none of my professors were like this. Two of them were atheists, one was a Christian, and one was agnostic. All they did was present philosophical ideas and hold respectful debates amongst the class, none of which they participated in themselves and only moderated. The way this movie portrays atheists is not only asinine, but intellectually dishonest.

My older brother used to be a Church going person but nowadays he doesn't attend church like I do but he does believe in God. My first assumption was that he's an atheist but in reality, he's not. He still believes in God but he doesn't believe in attending church will make him a better person. He just believes in God and that's it. If I had to ask him about it. I would say,
"Jason, Mom says that you believe in God but you don't believe in attending church. How do you explain that?"

Certainly, if you take a class, it’s the professor’s job to teach you the subject and not about their beliefs. A biology professor, for example, cannot quiz you on religion, as that is not his or her job. He has a duty to teach you about evolution because that is the primary theory of biology and one can scarcely teach the subject without it. Each course has a syllabus and learning objectives; ignoring them would defeat the point.
I would concede that some professors talk about their politics and beliefs from time to time, but I’ve never had my grade in the balance of such matters.

Unless you're attending a private religious school despite being an atheist, then I'd complain. While private schools aren't bound by the same legal restrictions as public schools, a nonsectarian private school shouldn't be showing this because it has no educational value. And if you're attending a public school, then your teacher is violating your civil liberties by showing you a Christian propaganda film when the government is supposed to be neutral towards religion.
