Was in high school when this came out, my dad got a 2007 Jeep JK Rubicon 2 door. Now I’m 30 and have a 2013 Jeep Jk Sport S 2 Door converted you Jurassic Park JP29. My dad just bought a 2021 Jeep JLU Sahara and my mother has a 2009 Jeep Commander. We’re a big Jeep family
I agree. I've owned VW's and Audi's and this is my first Jeep. I love it. My wife bought one and I stopped driving my allroad and Jetta in favor of her Jeep so I bought one too!
I have a 2006 Rubi Unlimited I cruse at 70mph 80 miles a day with no problems. Set the cruise control and enjoy the ride. On the weekends go off roading, then again my Jeep cost $24k not the $33k like the new ones...ouch
it depends what your buying the Jeep for. I suggest the new 4 door UNLIMITED Jeep to ANYONE! We've been a long-time Jeep family and I've owned a ton of these awesome wheelers from the old CJ-7's, XJ (Cherokee), YJ, TJ and XJ. I would have to say, for all around versatility both on & off road, Jeep finally nailed it with the new 4 door Wrangler XJ. This thing is great for both a daily & a weekender. buy one. you won't be disappointed.
@DariusCeg I understand what you're saying. But as far as my experience goes, the smoother the ride a 4x4 vehicle has, the less capable it is off road. The have to change a lot to the suspension to make the ride smooth. To be a good off road vehicle, the suspension has to be stiff to push the wheels down to get traction on uneven surfaces.
You may be able to fit 35s with a 4 or 5 inch lift... But a JK can fit those same 35s with a 2.5 inch Budget Boost. That's a point for the JK imo. Don't forget the electric sway bar disco either. Now here's hoping that Chrysler eventually offers that 5.7 Hemi in the JK. That would cement it as the best Jeep ever built in my opinion.
A solid axle is stronger which will support more torque. It will also allow for true locking differentials. Finally, a solid axle allows for more articulation.
4.0's are reliable and so are the 3.8's they've been used for years. The Chrysler 3.3 and 3.8 are extremely reliable engine's known to go 400,000 miles without failure.
No not at all. I love the way my Jeep drives on road and off. However, it is going to drive like a truck. The point I was making is that while the Jeep does drive like a truck on the road it really shines OFF road. Additionally, the Rubicon has larger tires and weighs more so it behaves even more like a truck. It also has A LOT more off-road capability.
@DariusCeg I have been able to drive an Audi, and you're right, for the most part the ride in American cars don't compare. But here, we're talking about a Jeep Wrangler which was built purely for function. Of course the ride isn't going to be smooth. In fact, most if not all, 4X4 vehicles have bumpy rides. There is no getting around it.
Jeeps are REAALLY strong cars. Its rare to see one with wrecked suspension or stuff. Have hit the undercarriage of mine a couple of times and havent ever had any trouble. anyway, Thoose who do have susp problems, have visual hits too.
@DariusCeg If you're comparing a Jeep Wrangler to those vehicles you do NOT want to buy a Jeep. Jeep Wranglers are focused on going off-road. The vehicles you listed are focused on going through 6 inches of snow. The Jeep will drive just as well but you'll be wasting money on the extreme 4X4 capability.
@IppoJ Capable of driving over slippery surfaces? I'll agree with you on that. However, It doesn't have the approach or decent angels. You'd destroy it if you tried to keep up with a Jeep on a trail. Not to mention lockers. Perhaps you're not familiar with the advantages of good approach and decent angles or having lockers?
@MrBabyjesus1129 In my opinion, it is just cosmetic. My rubicon had trouble before it's first service and the dealership told me that if the damage was caused as a result of off-roading, then it wouldn't be covered by warranty. Also pay attantion to the rust buildup even on 1 year ond models. If this is a car you have and you like then good for you! But If you are considering purchasing a Jeep then be caucious and do your research.
@Kittylover9393 Yeah, I noticed the Forrester, too! It's like the Subaru was thinking "have I come too far? oh well, I'm here, might as well keep driving!" Maybe I should check out that one and save $20,000 or there about. I do love the looks and abilities of the Wrangler 2dr! You should see the 2011 instrumentation and door panels! The hardtops will be the same color as the body on the Sahara models! City fun too!
@fitchhollister I'm unsure whose website you were looking at then. From their website: Hill Descent Control (HDC) with Gradient Release Control (GRC) 2-speed electronically controlled transfer box Front/rear split and lockable central differentials
@IppoJ You said it was nearly as capable as a Jeep. It's not even close. It's a nice car but it would get all beat up if it tried to follow me on a trail. Additionally, It does not have lockers. I checked the website.
@MrHypno69 What's the difference really.. I mean you probably say more control over your gears. But when you're running a trail surely you aren't going any higher than 1 or 2 anyway.. which you can set to in an automatic anyway?
@fitchhollister Untrue, on all counts. The Range Rover is also available with lockers as an option. What I did not say is that the RR is the Rubicon's off-road equal. I was merely saying do not discount the RR as merely another cute-ute or fakeUV. Unlike most others they were designed for off-road duty from the beginning.
No, i do not own a Jeep. But think if you own the most unreliable trying of 4x4 maybe it is a success being the most reliable driver. A good team is a good team.
While it articulates better, the base Wrangler front axle is no stronger than some IFS CV axles. There's nothing inherent to IFS that prevents anyone from locking the diff. Lockers can test the strength of the front axle(s), but as I mentioned the Jeep Wrangler front end in no stronger than say a 4Runner's CV shafts.
I have had no problems with mine. It's my 3rd jeep and I love it. And don't get IFS, i'm sick of pulling toyotas to the trail head when they cant make it. It's funny how toyota owners knock jeeps when the most popular front end upgrade for a toyota is to convert it to a solid axle. Hmmm wonder why that is?
@DariusCeg I drove an Audi. I got rid of it. I love them but they can't go anywhere and I live in Colorado. I need utility. I'll buy another when I move somewhere where there are more streets than forests. Though, I hope that never happens.
@newjersey02 Don't take my word for. Take the car for a testdrive on the highway and you will see for yourself. Also see if you can constantly put up with all the noise it makes.
@wutth13 You're delirous if you think a stock 79 CJ will go anywhere near where a 2010 JK Rubicon will go. And if you want to talk mods; If you spend the same amount of money for mods on both the JK will still beat the CJ. They are both excellent vehicles but you can't really compare how well they 4X4. Progress is good.
The thing is every LR owner know it's a real 4x4 and then they do anything with the cars, thats why appear problems in their cars... A person who owns a Range Rover and never drives offroad can drive without problems for years... I have been reading about Range Rovers in US and know a lot of them had problems from factory, thats a pity but almost brands have similar problems, and not all the Range Rovers had problems, you can find happy owners everywhere.
Hmm, did he even need to use 4x4? And the last comment says only buy a Rubicon. Rubicons are awesome, I would of gotten that but my X can do just as much. I mainly drive on the beach with my X, and even with stock 17" tires, I out do 99.9% of the vehicles on the beach. You gotta know how to drive.
I love 4x4 trucks, specially jeep wranglers, but in my opinion I rather like the ones from 2006 and back than the new ones from 2007. I feel that they've lost their "spirit". That's what I feel. I had a 1992 sport wrangler and I wouldn't change it for a 2007. I might be crazy but I don't like them.
@GkrkTheProfessional Actually, I have to disagree. Look at the Nissans, Toyotas, Honday they all heve smooth rides. I think that nearly all have a 4x4 or all wheel drive version which drives comfitably. Another thing that I have notices amongst the American manufactures and Jeeps in particular is the rust. My neighbour has a 2010 Rubicon and there is already rush around the door handels and underneath the vehicle. Brrr.. This car really scares me.
@GkrkTheProfessional Sorry for the mistake but that still doesn't make them great cars. I'm not sure if you ever had an opportunity to drive an audi, benz or BMW but in my oppinion there is just no comparison. To me it was like driving on clouds in comparison to the American cars. Even when I drove a Viper, it seemed that it was only good going in a straight line. I do not mean to be offensive to a nation I just think that the industry could do better.
I bought a new Rubicon and had it for about a year. The best thing about it was getting rid of it. Service is horble, the roof is a pain in the ass, the drive is extremely bumpy (feels like the car is falling apart, and the car cannot drive over a hundred km on the highway without feeling like it's going to tip over. In general, Stay away from american cars... No wonder the Government has to constantly rescue GM and Ford.
I bought a 2008 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon yesterday. I take delivery on wednesday...I cant wait..!!!
Jeep Wranglers are truly great cars. They are hardy and reliable even on the roughest roads!

I just saw the images with the new 2011 Jeep Wrangler. The interior is awesome. I hope they will sell it in EU with the 2.8 L diesel.
the detachable sway bar and rear differental are really cool
@DariusCeg I understand what you're saying. But as far as my experience goes, the smoother the ride a 4x4 vehicle has, the less capable it is off road. The have to change a lot to the suspension to make the ride smooth. To be a good off road vehicle, the suspension has to be stiff to push the wheels down to get traction on uneven surfaces.
sweet... i got the same one.... just love it.. ok, mine is 2008.... but same color.... im in love with my JEEP... luke from ontario, canada
You may be able to fit 35s with a 4 or 5 inch lift...

haha you served him. im gettin a 1992 cherokee laredo soon. 4x4 high output engine. cant wait man. love jeeps.
@DariusCeg I have been able to drive an Audi, and you're right, for the most part the ride in American cars don't compare. your right H1 is the one that is counterpart of the military version the Humvee
@IppoJ Capable of driving over slippery surfaces? I'll agree with you on that. However, It doesn't have the approach or decent angels. You'd destroy it if you tried to keep up with a Jeep on a trail. Not to mention lockers. Perhaps you're not familiar with the advantages of good approach and decent angles or having lockers?
your friends probably a really good driver!!
@MrBabyjesus1129 In my opinion, it is just cosmetic. @JustJeepin666 awesome!! you are going to love it
@Kittylover9393 Yeah, I noticed the Forrester, too! It's like the Subaru was thinking "have I come too far? oh well, I'm here, might as well keep driving!" I want one too. I guess I'll keep riding around on my 21-speed Shwinn.
The base wrangler's may not be, but the Rubicons is. Can you put a (true) locker on a IFS?
@fitchhollister I'm unsure whose website you were looking at then. From their website:
Hill Descent Control (HDC) with Gradient Release Control (GRC)

hey guys iam looking to buy a jeep wrangler soon can anyone tell me what one is best i heard shorter wheel base is best is this correct?????
@fitchhollister Untrue, on all counts. The Range Rover is also available with lockers as an option.
What I did not say is that the RR is the Rubicon's off-road equal. I was merely saying do not discount the RR as merely another cute-ute or fakeUV. Unlike most others they were designed for off-road duty from the beginning.
Well i saw a Range Rover in the end of the video crawling behind the Wrangler. I'll be great if this video includes a comparision between the 2.
i got a 2008 2 door, it quite bumpy on the road? More rocky than bumpy i'd say. But hey it's a Jeep & thats how they are!!!
I am confused! Is solid axle better then independent for off roading... which is a better off roader, the Range Rover or Jeep?
No, i do not own a Jeep. But think if you own the most unreliable trying of 4x4 maybe it is a success being the most reliable driver.
A good team is a good team.
@fitchhollister
I agree, I thought the exact same thing when I watched the end
While it articulates better, the base Wrangler front axle is no stronger than some IFS CV axles. There's nothing inherent to IFS that prevents anyone from locking the diff. Lockers can test the strength of the front axle(s), but as I mentioned the Jeep Wrangler front end in no stronger than say a 4Runner's CV shafts.
is the guy owen wilson?
rubicon...my favorite jeep
I have had no problems with mine. It's my 3rd jeep and I love it. And don't get IFS, i'm sick of pulling toyotas to the trail head when they cant make it. DUDE I've been to Split Rock 3 times never heard of these trails can somebody fill me in?
The nv-4500 is the heavy duty transmission the nv-3500 is medium duty ,And I'm pretty sure the nv-4500 is a 5spd .,
does anybody know the difference between having front and rear dif.lockers or center difs lock
That would be a HUGE struggle for my 2008 Cadillac Escalade Awd. HAHA
@fitchhollister you scare me. I want a jeep wrangler and i take the highweay everyday to work. Is that a problem for a jeep?
beetwin hammer and wrangler i like both
Jeep wrangler is my favorite SUV
finally sum one who know that the H1 is the only true Hummer.
yuuuuh just picked my 2010 4 door white rubicon up.Deadly car except for the wimpy engine. The ole 4L had way more grunt and sounded better.
@newjersey02 Don't take my word for. Take the car for a testdrive on the highway and you will see for yourself. Also see if you can constantly put up with all the noise it makes.
There was a pretty little Range Rover following. If a Range Rover is following you, you're not Jeeping.
hey, don't cut the vid... i want to see the range rover do the track
@wutth13 You're delirous if you think a stock 79 CJ will go anywhere near where a 2010 JK Rubicon will go. they are the perfect first car
Cheap
Cool
Fun
Sporty
Cheap insurance
reliability can be a problem but thats why god invented snap-on
Ah, I wanted to see the Land Rover behind it. You should have compared the two!
@Kittylover9393 Looks like a Land Rover.
@DariusCeg hahaha yeah I saw it right at the end of the clip!
i like the new wrangler. however i always say "no half doors = shortbed cherokee"
ollllllo FOR LIFE
hell yes! I wish i had this for my 1st
a bit overpriced though....34K is alot for a jeep IMO
@fitchhollister Please, with decent tires a Range Rover can go anywhere a (stock) Jeep can go.
@tganubis You're crazy. Remember, Rubicons are "stock".
Hey i didnt know that owen wilson did car reviews lol
Hmm, did he even need to use 4x4? And the last comment says only buy a Rubicon. Rubicons are awesome, I would of gotten that but my X can do just as much. I mainly drive on the beach with my X, and even with stock 17" tires, I out do 99.9% of the vehicles on the beach. You gotta know how to drive.

You think A old school jeep is a good first car? like a 94. I Just want a chillen summer car that I can go to desert parties in haha
the Jeep is leading the way so it can pull the dainty teabisquit out when it gets stuck
wow thats stock wow
i agree jeep is better than hummer!
Actually, they were going to show that Range Rover next...but it got stuck.
2:07 lol that's not a wrangler behind it hahahah
damn i wanted to see if the land rover would make it
I totally know what you mean.
Come on, my uncle fusion could drive on that road at the beggining
@fitchhollister The Range Rover is nearly as capable as a Jeep but much more comfortable. Well, and expensive.
Range Rover Sport was there to help if needed :p
Didn't you see the Range Rover they brought just in case they needed it for rescue:)
oops! sorry, I meant Jeep 4 door Wrangler JK, not XJ. man, all these different body codes get confusing! :)
Its more like a hummer if you dont have budget then you have a choice of buying it
Also if a range rover could do, any car could do it
this was light duty
He was probably carrying emergency chrome polish and wax, but that's about it.
@GkrkTheProfessional Actually, I have to disagree. Look at the Nissans, Toyotas, Honday they all heve smooth rides. He didn't drive over anything a VW beetle couldn't handle.
seems that it could compete with hummer
@MrHypno69 Why would u say that?
My wifes Lincoln Towncar could have gone through that first part.
@jeep4jeep
This trail just doesnt do this thing justice!
This isnt a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon it is standard.
why do people call suv's trucks, god. Some SUV's have trucks suspensions, but their still SUV's.
who all are here after mahindra new THAR
Nice Rubicon, but I`ll stick with my Hummer H2.
@GkrkTheProfessional Sorry for the mistake but that still doesn't make them great cars. hey, different people, different styles. besides for all you know im a insane canadian.
jeep needs to get rid of that mini-van motor and go to a small V-8 or and INline 6, better yeat option I-4 TD
i could do that trail in a prius
I bought a new Rubicon and had it for about a year. The best thing about it was getting rid of it.
