Forgot the iron maiden room at 17:59. Contains 3 iron maidens with loots (including a ring for the trophy), 1 iron maiden that's an ambush (it's the one by itself). There's also a noble's lotus hanging on the corpse you can shoot down.
Please help!! Going for platinum and followed your guide to a tee apart from I killed old king Dorian by mistake! So now after I kill the red dragon I can’t get the stuff as the blue ones still there! Will that effect my platinum run??

As a tip for anyone trying to get through the balista through rolling, unequip the thief ring and equip the cling ring. Should allow you to survive getting hit once, exactly what happened to me.

i played all souls games and this entire level is my favorite area of all time the level design , the keys , the atmosphere , and the singing in the background its just soo creepy and perfect in every aspect

24:47 You can get the trophy easier for the ballista. Use the cling ring instead of the Ring if Great strength. Equip your best armour that keeps you under 50%. I used binded body and black for the rest. Unequip weapons if needed. When diving, go when you hear the sound then gradually get quicker as your moving up. If you kiss the fence you will avoid allot of shots allowing you heal and with the cling ring you can sponge being hit rather then instantly being killed. I got the trophy after being hit 4 times.

For anyone who is struggling with the enemies, the bow works really well against them. 2 shots and done with level 7 bow Edit: Cowboy actually mentions this later in the video, sorry :p
I gotta say everytime i play through a new souls game and watch your walk through of it i absolutely love it. I loved ds3 and im getting the feeling that im gonna love demon souls. Maybe it helps to have a good reason to pause playing for even less than a minute. Helps my sanity most likely.
It’s a bit cheesy but at least on PS5 if you know you’re going to die, or right as you die, hit the Home Screen, close the game, re enter and continue. You will be left off somewhere before you died. In the beginning I did this before boss fights, it saved me from having to redo a lot, and this is my first souls game ever.
Been watching this after clearing areas to see if I missed anything of importance. Good to see my Souls knowledge hasn't degraded, so far I've only missed a couple of souls in the ironmaidens. Great videos Cowboy

Had a perfect run with no deaths until I tried roll dodging the ballista. Died and lost a bunch souls, then proceeded to die several more times in a row trying to speed run to get back there lol. Should have said screw the achievement and just went through the back.
For those struggling to roll past the ballista especially near the end. It might help if you roll when you hear it or base it off of hearing. For example around the halfway mark. Firing sound, pause, roll. Firing, pause, roll. And right before the end. Firing sound, roll. Firing, roll. Hopefully anyone who gets stuck doesnt stay stuck.
In case this helps someone with the Ballista. I did it musically. One bar of 4 and one bar of 3. The arrows take up the first bar of 4 and finish on the down beat of the second bar of 3. Then two beats for your running and then you’re rolling. 1(roll),2,3(roll),4, 1(arrow finished) 2,3(running). Lol… sounds complicated but I got it first go when I thought about it like this.
I use the bow as well. However, with the thief ring, you can stay out of their aggro radius, so often times you can shoot at them without them shooting back.
Really enjoying your guide. One comment I'd make tho. I found Adjuicator to be a crazy easy boss and Flamelurker was also very easy with the Crescent Falchion +1 and a decent shield. Beating these two bosses allows you to talk to blacksmith Ed and make the Meat Cleaver. It made Prison of Hope super easy. One shotting the flyers and all the other mobs. Also having the bow upgraded to Lava Bow at this point make sniping the Flayers very easy. Having a few more soul levels from killing those two bosses before coming here also trivialized the area. Just my two cents. Obviously there's many ways to play the game but I thought I'd mention that Meat Cleaver actually isn't that hard to get early on. The worst part was having to sink some levels into Faith to be able to use it.
As a mage I just managed to turn my Kilij (Kılıç) into a crescent +1. It hacks these things down in two light hits. But even more effectively is using thief's ring, cloak spell then then use flame toss on them with a kriss in one hand and my wooden catalyst in the other. They are dust in two hits. I can lock on to them befeow they see me then stun them with flame toss and immediately throw another
So far, struggling with 4-2. And waiting for that guide. Everything else I’ve been able to do without any major help/hints. Done with all of the other bosses and areas but 4-2 pathway is a nightmare.
I’m finding sniping the mind flayers really helps, if you’re careful with your timing you can pick them off from the end of the corridor or from different levels before they can counter.
Just got the trophy minutes ago, best cue you can have is not visual but sound. As soon as you hear the arrows being shot, you roll, around 3 times, then you run to the back.
If you *really* want to sneak up on those flayers, use a big weapen like a halberd. For reasons unknown, big weapons make you imperceptible to enemies when you sneak up to them from behind (yes, really). If you want to test this out for yourself, go to the tower knight archstone and kill the two blue knights behind you. Use a big weapon and you can walk up literally right up to them, use a small weapon like a sword or axe and they’ll hear you and turn around. Doesn’t make any sense, but that’s they way it is…
Yeah I noticed this too using the crescent falchion vs claymore. The claymore it is for me! I’m not sure if this was true for the original game as well but I seem to recall the same mechanic
You missed the ring of magical sharpness I just found it in the room before you opened the door to head down stairs it's in the trap thingy facing the left wall when you come through the door
Anyone stuck on the mind flayer part: Just learn the magic defence from the nexus and use it and then go and get hit with the tentacles, you won't take any damage.

For those of you who don’t give a shit about the achievements (like myself), just grab the key and go back to the warden doors. It’s very short (only two mind flayers I think) and, as he said, gets you around the back of the ballista to turn it off. Easy peasy.
Cowboy is the man, but man he's missing all the loot in various rooms you can shoot down with your bow. Lots of loot on those hanging corpses if you look up.
After Phalanx I came here with a bastard sword +1 and the mindflayers caused me no problems. Three hits and it seems to stagger them. I have never been grabbed. I only have the item discovery ring and the ring that lessens health loss when in soul (cling?). Edit: Using strong attack. Edit 2: For anyone reading this, you can farm the first part of digger map with mailbreaker for stones to upgrade weapons/shields.
With the thief ring you can just run up and backstab the flayers, run away and repeat if low level. I come here at SL1 runs to clear out 3-1 and get the light armor sets (everything but the red phantom and the boss).
Did this exactly how you did and the achievement didn’t pop. That’s twice now following this guide. Not complaining because I love the guide, but wondering why this would be?
I followed your walkthroughs up until this point and didnt have an extra hardstone to upgrade my bow to 7 tried finding one no dice im using a regular knight instead
So I too died to the ballistae. Instead of watching your quick run back to it I paused the guide and thought I could find it on my own...I took a wrong turn and fell in a gap and died. Lost 8000 souls 😭😭

A tip for this is u can snipe the squidwards on the lower levels easily from the paths with the broken gate. It’s only like 2-3 shots to kill them!

If you finish the storm arch stone first, anti magic field is awesome for these enemies, I used it in ng+ and it was a breeze

I do not envy you having to make this part of the walkthrough. I've no idea how i got through it because it was so confusing
Used the cling ring to tank an extra hit and barely made it out. That ballista was a real test of my rolling skills (they were not very good) 😅

4-2 is basically a gimmick level. Hard until you learn reaper positions then it's one of the easiest zones.
I found sniping the mind flatters with a bow is easy as pie. +5 now pops them in 4 maybe 5 arrows from across the way.

The winged spear is excellent for killing the guys behind bars, and I sniped some of the mind flayers but gonna try the axe 🤣

For the ballista part i just clung to the left kinda behind the pillars and then just sprint no rolling needed. i even healed once no problem.
Can you reactivate the Ballista and roll through to get the hidden achievement? Or is it done once you turn it off the long way?
