Its not so much memorization as strong audiation. If you rely solely on memory you cant trascribe as much music. You first need to listen to the solo on repeat ad infinitum and then as ridiculous as it sounds sing it a bunch of times. Then you transcribe it at 50 or 75% speed whichever is comfortable. You will realize you wont need as much memory as you think
