Horrible criteria to consider for Sprint/T-Mobile in KC. The fact that it never attracted a tenant was a great thing. It was paid off 20 years early thanks to it being available for concerts and whatnot... it is the 4th most attended concert venue in the country. It isn't a drain on the taxpayers like the buildings that have a tenant. If you want a useless arena in KC, the former Kemper Arena still stands....

I think calling them "useless" is a little too strong of a term. I mean, they're still being used. Just because they don't have a major professional sports team as a regular tenant doesn't make them useless. They still host concerts and other events, or host a smaller sports team. A better term may be that they are "underutilized".

Lets throw in the Arena the Arizona Coyotes abandoned in Glendale. Which is now Desert Diamond Arena. I recently looked at the event schedule for this Arena being I used to work in the building. There isn't much going on there and in my eyes, just under 20 years of it being open it's sadly dying. I did think about getting rehired there but after looking at the lack of events because of no hockey, there really isn't any work and would be pointless!

Now it survives by leasing its parking lot. The current calendar on its website lists one event for July, the Low Rider Car Show, and one for August, La Fiesta Del Mariachi.

I went to an AEW show there in March, and there was a good crowd there. They still host the Grand National Rodeo which is an excellent box seat if you can get one. The Cow Palace hasn't hosted any sports team since 2014, because hockey goes to die there. And it's much easier for a Semi-Pro/Minor league basketball team to play at Kezar Pavilion instead of the Cow Palace.

As a Warriors fan, I have had many wonderful memories seeing games at Oakland Arena (it’s also really really hard for me not to call it Oracle). I remember my first time going there was for a Ringling Brothers concert when I was 5. Then in 2012 I watched my first NBA game there where the Warriors beat the Wizards by like 20 points. I remember it was a pretty nice, well kept up arena and I don’t remember it showing age in any way (unlike the Coliseum next door). I think the diamond design on the exterior is quite iconic, even a bit timeless. It’s just sad seeing that arena go from “Roaracle” to being pretty much abandoned now with no teams playing there. Its just sort of forgotten about nowadays. Especially when you think about the situation with the Coliseum that is in the same complex. There was supposed to be an Indoor Football League team playing there but plans for that fell though and they’re playing in San Jose now. I really hope Oakland gets a WNBA franchise sometime soon. Oakland Arena would be a perfect location for them. It would also help give the arena new life.

Having a monopoly on the ACC Tournament each year that all but guaranteed that Duke or UNC made the final each year killed the league. There were multiple reasons a founding member of the ACC, the University of Maryland, left for the Big Ten a decade ago. Now the ACC is about to dissolve completely and a big reason why is the nepotism of the league providing distinct advantages to the NC schools. Now you'll have nothing, much like Greensboro Coliseum itself.

The goal was to be a top tier concert venue and it did very much succeed there, often getting bigger shows than Paycom. It also hosted the NCAA wrestling championship this past year, often hosts some NCAA tournament games, a couple OU-Arkansas basketball games, and normally one preseason Thunder game a year. Those major renovations were before the current ownership took control and decided to build in SF. They had some minor improvements done but nothing major. The City owns the building so they have to maintain it. Not all sports teams own their own buildings. Cities have obligations if they own a building and are collecting rent. Can't blame the teams.

BOK Center in Tulsa hosts a lot of concerts. Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen, and Foo Fighters are just some acts who have played there. It seems like Tulsa gets more big concerts than OKC.
