It was very worth 12 minutes of my time...
Can you name few technologies and skills that are MANDATORY to begin thinking of a Data Scientist Career. Although everyday new tools and technologies invented, however there should be some mandatory set of skills... Could you suggest those ??

For tools Python and SQL are the closest thing to "mandatory" I can think of. Nice to have are R, Hadoop, and Spark.
Quantitative skills are very important. Which quantitative skills are important to have depend on the job. I'd say probability, statistics, linear algebra, and machine learning are helpful to know but like she said sometimes just counting things can provide the most beneficial insights. Knowing how to think analytically and critically is more important than knowing any specific mathematical methods.

I dont know, but there still is a huge demand for SAS, specially SAS analysts. I think you will find them more in medicine and Pharma.
