Stephen Borte Agreed. I'm really happy to have someone like Patil helping push the field forward at the national policy level.

Bruh seeing this now makes me wonder how behind we put ourselves for not dealing with this public data. So much innovation in the past 7 years!!

This is wonderful. Government has different strengths than the private sector and this is another way that the government can help to build the American infrastructure. Data science needs the contributions of the private sector, academia, open-source, and government.

@@saurabhchaturvediscientist RUclipsr Siraj Raval has a list of free tutorials for learning data science in three months. (Just do a search for data science on his channel.) You won't become a good data scientist in three months, but it's a good start. 😊 Fast.ai has free machine learning courses also. Or you can find RUclips channels with good data science content. Some of my favorites are Enthought and Data School.
Another option is to go to a data science boot camp. Lambda school is such a boot camp. Two of the awesome things about it are:
      1. they give you the option to attend for free and pay tuition only if you get a job (and only if you make more than $50,000 ... or something like that).
      2. the classes are online, so you can attend from anywhere.
Kaggle is an interesting place to find data sets and data science challenges but many users are intimidated by the competition.
My biggest piece of advice is to find data you're interested in and start playing with it right away. You'll have many headaches at first 😁, but you'll also gain a lot of knowledge. Post your work on github or a personal blog. That's how you're building your portfolio.

It always amazes me how people can talk for a long period of time without actually saying anything. What a waste of time.
