I had this negative bias towards Caravan Sarai because it's not authentic, but I guess you have a point there. Another good thing is that the government is pouring money not only to this tourist complex, but to the rest of the city. Unfortunately, the apartment houses that are being built are very basic boxes without proper development around them. I think the government would've made Turkestan a more attractive city had it ordered housing development a-la European style.
I think it's often the case that apartment complexes in newly built parts of Kz lack some infrastructure. It's that way in some new parts of Astana, too.
European style in Central Asia? I don't want to be rude but it's ugly and will not match the rest of the city. But I agree that there should be something better than boxes (if you don't lie, I've never been there although I live in Kazakhstan)

There aren't a lot of resources in English. Colloquial Kazakh by Routledge is a good start. There are also a few RUclips channels that teach Kazakh in English. TilMedia has some language learning resources, but they're all in Kazakh.

Omg I live here for 16 years. And next time if u will visit Turkestan again. I would be excited to make for u a small tour in this city. Bc many thing that u didn’t seen for example uly dala museum where u can talk with rulers though galagraphic screen. I think I will never be truly Kazakh enough to not be called a foreigner. I did try shubat at that restaurant called 'Sandyq,' but I've had it before as well.

I've been to Taraz twice already as well. I have a video about my first time visiting there. Turkestan has new buildings meant for tourism, so I wanted to check it out.
I am sorry, but I think you spent too much money on taxi drivers. 25000tg and 15000 it is to much I will advice you to pay not more than 5000tenge. I had a foreign friend and they also asked him such big amount of money so I booked taxi to him in cheapest price.
