I want to add one last note. Don't be scared to send a quote with what you think you are worth! Thanks for watching! VERY IMPORTANT- STOP clicking weird spam posts. I have no idea what's wrong with RUclips but this has become a big problem with a lot of channels. It's not me.
Tip to identify : name is in a grey disc and the reply on the video reply actually says "view reply from Evan Ranft" or whichever creator its supposed to be from not just "View Reply"
3:36 I ever wanted a paid photographer but I get for free and I get used my photography skills for nothing all I wanted to get paid for a Living I am serious about my career 3:56 and you take pictures for our newsletter for free I thought I am going somewhere and getting paid to do it 5:12 I need help
Always motivating me to keep moving forward. Starting a photography career at 56 seemed crazy, but anytime I have my camera in my hand I guarantee I have a smile on my face. Thanks.
I have not watched the video yet but I will be in a second. But I remember when I got my first 4 figure photography job. I cant say how happy and hyped I was and how much it motivated me to go bigger. I have not landed 5 figure project but I know in the future I will and can not wait for this moment! Thanks Evan for making an awesome and meaningful content!
Even this is solid stuff. I totally believe that doing it for yourself and presenting it like you would to a clint is one of the greatest ways to get high paying gigs, and grow your skills and creativity at the same time.
I feel this is the video that puts a spark back in my creative engine!! After 20 years of dealing with divorce drama, and a recent move to Fort Worth Tx , have lived in IL most my life aside being in the Navy…starting fresh with my new wife of 1 yr “5/2/21” but have been together since 2010…this video spoke to me Evan….btw I miss ATL, and the southern hospitality it offers, had been stationed in Marietta … keep these coming it’s alwYs a pleasure to watch yer hussle
FYI Evan in your website with the Toyota shots you posted you captioned it as Totota! Not sure if you’ve noticed that in your portfolio showing your mood board kind of thing!
I think yeah.... this can work where agencies exist. Atlanta is a huge city. I'm in the middle of nowhere. Will these bigger cities actually hire me, someone from the middle of nowhere, pay my travel fees, to solve their problems than someone down the block for cheaper and no travel fee?
Part of the problem I see is people trying to know what the next guy is thinking. ie, I send in my work and someone will take my ideas. In reality, the person hiring the help has no time to steal ideas, they simply want to quickly pick one person for the job out of dozens. Your submitting a video is the ticket.
Offering a free "proof of concept" to a potential client sounds like a great idea, but how do you protect yourself from them simply ripping off your idea and hiring their brother-in-law to copy it for less money? I think it would be necessary to have them sign a contract ensuring that if they like the idea they will have to hire you to do the project.
Best advice I have is look for other individuals who need media. So look for people trying to build a fitness, lifestyle, or musical brand. Reach out to them or build a relationship and help them build. Relationships always lead to money
Thanks for given information. Love from India. I want to start my career in this field. In future if i visit uk can you help me for starting my career?
You know, just ‘becoming popular’ isn’t an option for 99.9% of people out there. This isn’t advice, it’s just a guy who had dumb luck and nepotism, not really working hard now are you!?
Lately I’ve been finding brands on ig and people on LinkedIn and sending cold emails. What do you feel is best to include in the email? I know here you say proof of concept and prices, but is there anything else I should include
Solve their problem! That’s the main thing, so if you think they need a lot of media, pitch that. If you think they need a better schedule, pitch that. Specialize what you’re sending to what you think they need which is perceived as immediately valuable
I mean it sounds basic but networking is everything. I know people you’ve never heard with no internet following clearing 250k a year. Create the concept and get it where it needs to be. Has worked for me 🤷♂️
Do you recommend turning personal IG into a buisness/professional account? or should we make a seperate professional insta account for buisness use? Thanks!
Thanks for the video. Always informational. Also, I had a text me from you on my comment on one of your videos and I did twice but nothing…something about a giveaway? I’m confused
I think it's corrosive to creativity to be focussing on particular financial goals all the time. You take pictures because you are inspired to. The number one goal is to be paid enough to KEEP taking pictures full time. When I started out my creative career my goal was to improve as much as I could and one day gain the respect of my peers. I never once wondered how I could be paid $20k for a job. I think it's bad advice to give people. Goal number one, be paid enough to survive and keep doing what you want to do. goal number two, always try to improve, learn from your mistakes - - and the better paying jobs will come.
I'd really love to do combat photography one day, I'm pretty sure I will one day by the grace of God almighty, there is a great war coming soon enough and I would like to be there when it breaks out, but my problem is that I wasn't really sure how to go about things to be able to do it someday and this video has helped me greatly....

How the picture frame lines up with the window frame's reflection in the tv *chef's kiss*

I feel like it’s impossible for me to make photography a career where i live, just have no idea how to start or get my work out there
It's definitely tough some places. Both big cities and small cities have their own set of challenges
I'm late to the party but do you know who you want to work with?
Can you break down what you put in those slides ?
Great video
Can you use a iPhone as a photography job if one can not afford a camera for that moment ?

The camera on your thumbnail is the Nikon Z9? do you have a video on that?
Hi I'm 13 and I'm really into photography. How could I make money from it before I'm and adult?
