There have been two in my family...a 2005 CLK 500 Coupe that we leased from new. Very powerful (it felt like more than it was rated), great handling, rode a little hard, and the car was somewhat finicky with any repairs, etc (although I did not trust the service department at the dealer it went to for such matters).
We then got a 2008 CLK 350 Sport Cabriolet. The Sport version has (vs a standard 350) better steering, brakes, and suspension. It's a really well balanced car for everyday driver use, I'd say over the 500, especially its great ride quality. I drove a regular 350 before getting Mom's Sport version and there was no comparison...I didn't even care for the standard car, but most people would probably like it. Our 350 Sport Cabriolet has rarely had any problems, so in our case, it's been almost trouble free all these years later.
Mom's is the uncommon Majestic Black that you see on the car in this video. It really never looks black...it's actually very dark blue metallic with gray mixed in the metallic and is even nicer in person. Under really gray, dark weather, you notice the blue less, but it has to be really dreary outside for that. In the Sport package, two-tone interiors were available, with two-tone gray and black interior that has dark gray stained wood, and a black roof. It all matches perfectly. The tan interior in this car really does not match the Majestic Black, given the gray parts of the metallic. I basically picked the car out...
Mom passed on at the end of January 2021. That 2008 Mercedes were her favorite car of any we've ever had, and we always had at least one nice car at any time. It's really is a great car, which I always enjoy driving, from when it was new. It's not just a car anymore...I will keep it forever.
