now i finally know what the lead on my 1911 means. I am also not a 1911 professional and had wondered why the slide came from Remington rand and the grip from colt. Thank you and greetings from Germany
@@pourindiesel I have some weapons. mainly German. I never paid much attention to the 1911s. yesterday I got my first two 1911s. an itaca in excellent condition. and a remington rand in medium condition. I was disappointed when I realized that the grip is from colt. but now i know from your video that the us army put the pistol together like this. I'm currently reading more about the 1911 topic and learning a lot about it.
Real nice clear vid. Congrates on your beautiful piece of history. I wish I had a choice on a field grade. Most of those look nicely used and WWII or WWII. You say theres a lot of info on the anad rebuilds? Can you point me in the right direction? And how about the the rare MR rebuilds? Looking into time periods mostly? Tx
Letterkenny army depot is right behind chambersburg pa west of gettysburg pa. They did these guns in the 50s and 60s also they stored these in wooden crates after being rearsenalized. I live minutes away from lead. I'm in round 2 and I am weeks away from getting my pistol because people are sharing their rgn numbers on a fb group called colt vintage 1911s. Check it out. Anyways being a resident near there it would be awesome to get a lead gun. You did good!!!
