- The Lens Flare effect - or node - in Davinci Resolve is a powerful effect... if you know how to use it! In this video, we'll be using it, tweaking it, and tracking it to things on screen!

Without doubt, fusion is hard, but with trying for hours & and hours, l have now got some "ok" Fusion comps completed, your vids on Fusion are great, easy to follow and at good pace, thanks for sharing 👍
Thanks! Stay tuned - the next 2 videos are all Fusion, and some neat effects :D
Simple but very affective
Right? Thanks for watching!
Excellent. Thank you very much!
You're welcome! Thanks for watching!
I learn a lot watching these. May have to switch to Resolve.
If your computer can handle it - do it! It's got a 100% free version that is fully capable, no watermarks, and it'll grow with you as you learn more advanced editing techniques! Then, if you feel it's worth it [spoiler alert: it is], you can pay the $300 for the Studio license, which is good for life - no subscriptions! :D
Also, thanks for watching, my friend!
Nodes can be confusing. I believe there is a way to simulate ''layers'' (as in After Effects), but I believe that has some disadvantages in Davinci. Flares are cool though :)
Yes, they certainly CAN be! I haven't used After Effects... but layering is something I'm familiar with. Resolve sort of works like that. In the Edit page, the video tracks all layer on top of each other, and in Fusion, the nodes layer from source [MediaIn, background, etc.] to MediaOut. So, one thing affects everything downstream of it.
It's still the confusion page to me. I think it's a matter of knowing what is there, HOW and WHY you have to use one thing to make it work with another thing. For instance, on the edit page, if I want to change a color or size, I just open the inspector and key it in. On the fusion page, I have to add a node of something, then add a node of something else, and connect them together in a certain way to get to the point where I can change what I want to change. Or, you go to the bike shop and say, I have a knocking sound in my motor. The guy behind the counter says, you need a piston rod, here's one. With no explanation of how to change the rod, it makes the rod useless. You have to know how to change it, which involves, what order to take the motor apart, what order to put it back together, what parts you need to do it and WHY it has to be done in a specific order. I think a vid on whats there, why it's there, and when and how to use it would help a lot of people. I've watched a few dozen vids on the fusion page and as of yet haven't seen any one go through with descriptions of the what, why, and when. These demonstrations of how you or any one else put a scene together are good for showing what can be done, but no explanation of how you know what to use, when to use it, and how to connect them together, for a scene to change/do whatever it is you want to do. Again, part of it is knowing what is there and how to use it. That would probably be a long vid.
I can certainly appreciate that! A lot of what I know how to do comes from tinkering. The guy in the bike shop hears the sound your bike is making and knows instinctively that a rod has been bent, and how to fix it. I feel the same way. I just know what needs to go where.
Translating that into something a new-to-Fusion person can understand? Therein lies the rub. But I am working on that, I am... it's just figuring out the translation.
Nice I can be like JJ Abrams
LOL, I think he uses the preset I showed in the intro :D
