  • Do you know the science fiction author Jules Verne? He is famous for the books titled Journey to the Center of the Earth (1864), Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea (1870), and Around the World in Eighty Days (1873).
Verne was born in France but has been the second most-translated author in the world since 1979, ranking between Agatha Christie and William Shakespeare. He has sometimes been called the "Father of Science Fiction". [which is why we are here today in the science room]
What is amazing is that many of his science fiction ideas were predictions that became a reality. For example, when his book, 20000 Leagues Under the Sea, was written in 1870, there were no nuclear submarines with electric stoves. It was pure speculation (a thought-out conclusion).
His predictions were not just random guesses of the imagination, but carefully thought out reasoning and logic placed into a story. This clearly distinguished (separated) the line of Fantasy and Science Fiction.
What if you could predict the future like Jules Verne? It’s not necessarily a supernatural ability, but rather a scientific one. Let’s take a look at a magic trick that uses logic to predict the future.
