One of the most nostalgic games of my preteen and teen years. Im seriously concidering getting back into it it at the beginning of next month if I can on the PC, I really miss this game.
I'm going all-in and I'll always resub to retail when it has fun events. I was scared to commit to fishing or crafting on other servers before, but even Nasomi is about to turn 10 years old soon. No more holding back. Thanks for covering this!
I'd love to try it out! Just always aaahhhh concerned about the time commitment. I remember playing it back in the day, and I know I had to sink a ton of time into just getting groups together, traveling out there, etc. But I'm still tempted because the game was / is so good. It's funny to hear that SE said the whole "you think you do, but you don't" thing too. Even if they added the more reasonable explanation that it would make them raise prices because they'd have to maintain two different versions of the game. That said, whatever I end up choosing to do, I'm thrilled that new and old players alike are getting to experience that 75 level cap era FF XI. I think new-FF XI is great too, but classic XI was something super special and unique.
I've been split on the idea of an official 75-era server. One of the huge draws to Horizon is the top-notch GM team that prevents botting/rmt/dual-box. BECAUSE it's a community run project, we get to decide what that community is like.
If this came out next year on Xbox with the release of XIV I would instabuy. A lot of people are gravitating to XI especially through the collaboration with XIV. Just need it on console
Loved the journey of levelling to 75. Didn't feel like a grind to me. And had to have half decent gears as you progressed. Then I levelled BST solo which got me into all sorts of new camps. Then SE spoiled it with the BST nerf of 12/12/05. That date is etched. Was so disappointed.
@@SubzeroCage When mobs would de-spawn if moved out of their pop range. I was in a duo static, 63 bst at the time. We'd grab EM lizards in QSC, bring them to Antican and release them after the kill and re-charm them after their hp filled as they slowly walked back to their spawn point. That was no longer possible after the update and killed mine and my friends love of the job.
@@kluafozBST used to be able to charm mobs and drag them away from their usual "patrolling area". Once you'd leave "release" them they'd slowly walk back to their designated area while refilling HP. You could then re-charm once they filled up and continue fighting. After the nerf mobs would despawn if out of their patrolling area. It was meant to stop zones getting locked-down at the entrance when someone trains 100 of them to the zone line. Unfortunately it killed the way many BST's leveled the job. You'd have to wait for mobs to respawn and they wouldn't always respawn as the EM mob you initial charmed.
Personally, I think FF11 could use a remake, since I had to do a lot of set-up to play the game (presumably because of the game being so old and not all that easily accessible by modern hardware and software).
I think I'm going to give it a try since I dont have the budget to keep up with the retail's sub. I'm really wanting to try for SMN as my first job but not sure what I should get to 30 first to get it 👀
I feel sad for the retired ffxi players who remember the grind but only the suffering parts. That means they waisted a lot of their personal time in Vana’diel and not much adventuring was memorable for them in between all that sufferable grind. The grind that ironically makes ffxi a fun adventure if you see it through, make some friends, and look past the suffering.
The grind is what separated the losers from the winners. It was incredible and invigorating to actually earn your place in Vana'diel. Now games are easy and cookie cut experiences. FFXI fell victim to the masses and is now way too easy for me to enjoy. Viva 75.
I'm not retired I still play it even right now writing this I'm on it. you say it for yourself, there was a lot of suffering. unnecessary suffering that I never once enjoyed. I enjoyed the parts you mention. The era's best feature was the community. But that doesn't change the fact there were a lot and I mean a lot of shit parts about the 75 Era. And I didn't waste my time. I was very active in game exploring etc but also doesn't mean I wasn't sat there falling into my chair as it took forever to cross 1 map into the other lol. It would take a party after forming 30+ minutes to get from jeuno to the jungle based on timing. you literally had no choice but to do nothing but wait.
Agreed, I'm cautiously optimistic going forward. It seems they're doing with THF, what a lot of the community felt should've happened a long time ago. Seems like their threat control role will get dusted off too and be important and welcome again. ✌
None or any FF11 Private server WERE NOT playable and had so many issue with it and I never cared for because most private server of FFXI had so many freaking issue that they never fixed because and they keep using the bull crap Dark Star server files..., but after testing this server and trying this server out, MADE THIS OLD MAN HAPPY, No bull crap ether but when I give this server a chances. Made me go back in time all over again 2003 ps2 ERA
I was excited for this, but then I talked with devs in Discord and they refuse to put in QoL changes that make this absolutely not worth it. Here's just one example, I proposed adding in specific Home Point Warps as voted on by the community and they shot it down. They're never adding any new warps ever. Need to get to Qu'Bia Arena or Sacrificial Chamber for a quest? Have fun walking there for 30 real life minutes or longer. Want to earn exp? LFP for an hour, kill things for 20 mins, then someone dies or has to leave? Wait another 20+ minutes for them to walk back or the party might just disband anyway and you've earned maybe 3k exp. We're not in high school anymore, with virtually unlimited free time. We're adults with careers, kids, responsibilities etc. Again, that's just one example. It takes away nothing from the experience putting some Warps in strategic locations. The huge majority of this community and the devs are wearing some very thick rose tinted glasses. People VASTLY misremember how long it took to do ANYTHING. If I'm playing a game, I want to **play** the game, not travel across zones I've experienced for 20 years for 45 real life minutes.
@@brucemckinlay9739 Looks like that 4k has dwindled down to 1300 in 5 months. Nostalgia grows old quick and classic FFXI was notorious for being time consuming by virtue of bad QoL implementation. MMO is a matured genre now and devs have to be cognizant of how much consumable free time the aged playerbase has for their game. You see this type of consideration in just about every MMO these days.
For a first time I'd say no, you'd really want to at least know some people to play with. BUT starting on December 23rd the retail version will be half price ($9.99) and you get a free month of gameplay. That's my recommendation but I could see a person having a good time on Horizon, plus it's free~
I'd say yes, there seems to be a solid amount of new/newish players that will be jumping in so there will be tons of people learning and having fun messing up. I really would not recommend retail without a group of people you already know, groups are really insulated (at least from what I could tell in the past few years) so getting into retail alone is really difficult and honestly would probably just be a shitty single player game for a good while.
People will never be truly happy, I've been playing on an off (mostly on) since the PS2 launch. When everyone was in endgame 75, they wanted more. Level cap increase new stories new mobs, now they got that their crying I want to go back to classic 75.
I don't think it's that, I just think people latch onto nostalgia once a game changes drastically. Retail FFXI is worlds apart from era FFXI to the extent that it would be difficult to quantify them as the same game.
I'll stick to FFXI retail personally. I do not want to spend days of my life waiting on parties only for someone to have to leave and running to each area taking an immense amount of time. Also, in this, endgame is nothing more than a competition for ground kings. I'd rather not spend all of my days camping tiamat. With all of that being said though I think this is an excellent video and appreciate the time you put into it. There was nothing like the old days in final Fantasy 11.
As a player going in solo with no friends in game and introverted it will be harsh like it always has been, before the trust and soloable content. I feel like unless the community goes back to the pre toxicity of mmos today it won't be fun. If the devs just say don't grief but make it easy to do, people will quit cause the nostalgia won't be enough. They making hard mode shout when you die and tell everyone you lost and then say just be nice to these ppl. I don't think they understand the human heart maybe they are to young or rose colored viewing their product to much. I see many videos online about people who camp NMs or do endgame on other servers and the drama it causes which may be the reason those people like the game, who knows, but when that happens the introverted type will just say this is not fun and the escapism turns into toxic real world garbage real quick and they will quit. But that's just my opinion. I did find a great linkshell at NA launch and they took me through the harsh part of the game for years but at endgame the linkshell I joined turned toxic with other groups and within itself and was not fun at all. I think a lot of the people like me will play solo through the levels trying to jump on shouts to finish content they need but will get too bogged down when the shouts slow down and it's just sitting in jeuno for hours looking for party. But it will be era accurate if that happens and that's part of the reason SE added trusts and all the solo stuff. The vertical progression was to stop the bleeding if I remember correctly but I stopped playing religiously before that.
I am not for old school FF11, I did all that and I still play it right now. honestly what a lot of people forget is how unfriendly that era was. taking hours just to get from 1 location to another. Hours of shouting for parties just for it to take like 30 minutes to get to the party location for someone to then leave due to it taking so long and then having to send every WHM you can find in search tells to see if they will help you out. Then wait another 30 minutes for them to get there just for you to party for about 30 minutes before disbanding. We put up with it because we didn't know any better because there were no other good options at the time. All MMO's were roughly the same when it came to tedious levelling and unfriendly environments with very few QoL features. But now MMO's are more fast paced and interactive so you don't fall into your chair waiting for you to get across the map which feels like you're running at a snails pace... No thanks. I hope the people that enjoy it, enjoy it but it's not for me. The main thing that era had going for it was the amazing community it had. But when it comes to actual game play. It wasn't great.
Agree. Ignorance was truly the bliss that allowed people to tolerate that environment back in the early days of FFXI. Plus most of us were rather young with a lot of disposable time.
Totally agree with a lot of what you're saying here. I think this is going to be the best private server to date by a good margin. Hope to see you in Vanadiel!
@@Bewefau I'm not sure I trust the guy who doesn't know how to use the correct version of "they're." Also, how do you know? The server hasn't even launched yet.
Private servers been around for a while, about a decade at this point? Seemingly they keep working from ground up, each server trying to fix the same bugs and exploits. Hopefully it will start moving into more of a collective effort. And every now and then a new server pops up and then the same people all start over on that new server, especially all the people that have been banned on the other servers. (: There is both an up and down of private servers, cheaters get caught and punished more often, but there is also more issues to exploit, can’t ever hope to fix every single exploit.
Horizon isn't doing the "from the ground up", thing. It's built on tech from both Eden & LimitBreak, and should be the most stable server to date, as well as the most accurate to era.
@@Bootus123 Stable? That's yet to be seen, Eden is quite stable these days. As for accuracy? With the changes they've made, no it won't be anywhere close to accurate.
I keep hearing there is a large amount of people that want this but... i have my doubts.. Being in my late 30s now as a single dad, there simply is no way i would have the time to camp NMs or wait for parties. To use up my time lfp then having to log off soon as we start.. . I just returned to retail earlier this year and have been having a great time, and the fact that the game respects my time now is great! Planning out which trust to summon, coordinating with them and their abilities. I have been able to solo all the old content that i probably wouldnt have been able 10yrs ago when i had left, and still being somewhat challenging. It just boils down to how much time we all have to play these games now. I dont see the new generation wanting to spend hours waiting for the NM ToD then after the grueling experience of claiming it just to not get the drop, like we did back then. Ill stick with retail and support one of my favorite games that probably gave me the patience i have today 😆 Oh yeah and i forgot to mention, thanks to finding this channel and other creators still making ffxi content for us to enjoy, especially CallmeKwech who puts a lot of effort in these videos!! Thank you!!

Eden is currently one of the most accurate and active ffxi private server to date, will be interesting to see how the private servers community receives a heavily customed server!
it's actually not that heavy handed. A small example, they just announced "Hardcore Mode" - very little changes to gameplay or era, but offers something really fun to the player
@Robert Barrows on the site it let me create the character without the client. It says you can create 3 characters but I am not seeing the option anymore for some reason after I created only 1. It says I have 2 more available though
It's not the items or leveling that we miss with ffxi...Back then mmorpg players were friendly with each other and helpfull to one another... Now online games has toxic nature to it...
World of warcraft had private servers for classic..HAD. that was like..wat 10+ years ago? It's almost 2023, you think this crap gonna fly, especially with a company that openly says it cannot really afford to run this game? LIKE WOW. Just take a brick and smash it through a car window and get it over with.
would not say the best private server, its ff11 everyone loves ff11. As for the server, I been playing since launch and the experience is fun as it is ff11, but I would not say its the best ff11 private server. There is a lot of issues with login in, and limited staff, aka if the log in server goes down when the 2 devs who have access are sleeping, than you wont be able to play until they wake up, Server maintenance can also be during peak hours usually Friday nights and I have seen it last for 5-6 hours, if not longer. So is this the best private server? at its current state no. maybe one day if staff increases or they can work out all the bugs. Until than there are more stable private servers. Also jobs got really changed around, ninja for example can no longer tank as its shadow cool downs has been increased... So if your looking to play ff11 how it was back in era , horizon is not quite it. yes the cap is 75 but enough is changed mixed with the bugs to make it not the ideal server to play this day.
Interestingly I did a poll on my channel a while back (can check the community tab on my page) and it's quite common in the FFXI community to pronounce it F-F-ecks-ai
Its a noble idea, but sadly its not going to bring myself or any of my other friends back to the game. The years of 2002-2006 were especially good for XI because of the timing. Having world-wide servers meant having world-wide HNM shells dominating the top tiers of endgame. This pre-WoW timing cannot be replicated and without every last component, the experience will likely be a hollow shell of what it once was. I also just plain old don't want to rebuild from scratch knowing a highly castrated experience is what all the work will be for. I was among the very first to endgame in the Zilart era (I was on JP release) and never at any point stopped being absolutely capped with BiS drops with the various iterations of my HNM shell. Having to face every drop rate again is just not something I or any of my friends who used to be top endgamers want to do. Also private servers are even worse than the original ones in that they tend to reset or disappear suddenly and in very short time compared to the golden 4 years that were the first 4 after launch. I've seen a lot of comments preferring modern retail. Clearly every one of them is not from that original era because nobody who was thinks retail has been in a decent place since 2006-ish. All its attempts to be WoW ruined the entirety of its scene in record time. If you prefer all the convenience and post-ToAU meta, you aren't the kind of player that could have done well in legacy or any mmo in the golden era (first decade of the existence of the genre for the uneducated). All this being said, the masses of us OGs who were top level for all of the golden 4 years of XI are all still waiting and hoping for Ashes of Creation to scratch our mmo itch. Even though it doesn't even exist yet and its a long way off at best, its still our best bet so far for something that contains what XI did at launch while also innovating in other ways that will allow us to truly feel that the tech has progressed.
@@CallMekwech I just have vivid memories of trying to run to the dunes to pt, only to die in konschtat and have to explain to the pt leader that if they want me in pt, it'll take another 20mins of travel

It's not too late unless your goal is to be like.. the first level 100 of a certain craft or something. There's still MANY people starting fresh, and just as many levelling 2nd/3rd jobs in the lower lvl ranges.
I tried to go back to XI but it's too much.. The game was all about friends and working with a party to level and unlock stuff.. When they went to solo play the game was ruined. I won't be paying for it ever again.
I have mix feeling about this. One end I'm excited about 20th anniversary ❤️ of FFXI, a new classic server 75 cap. But I'm not sure if I want to go back to the grind again... unless it has crypto currency to bring in new players and crystal grind to prestige to keep the low lvl zone active. I'm worried only a few 1,000 at launch and it will die off as it's main player base are adults now.
they're nearing 5000 registered accounts atm, so far it seems the launch will be fairly successful in terms of players coming into the server as other PS's launches only had ~150 players at launch. PS's in general only need ~200-500 players to keep a healthy community tbch. No need for Millions or Hundreds of Thousands of players to make a community healthy and last years beyond launch. While I get and completely understand your skepticism, there's a high chance this server will succeed where other PS's have "failed." Which I use fail loosely, as those other PS's are still going fairly strong to this day.
The previous largest private server launch was something like 150 players on day 1. Not saying this is some kind of miracle server, but the numbers are bearing out
No Trusts is an instant dealbreaker for me. I am not relying on effectively being forced to party with random people by shouting endlessly into the void for hours when I can just play a million other MMO's that let me solo stuff or at least silently matchmake. Played it for a little bit last night, was having fun messing with settings and the built-in addons and stuff, only realized an hour or so in I was wasting my time as it would take virtually forever to even hit the midgame. I would unironically go play WoW vanilla classic and level solo than that. And I didn't play either of those when they were new, so this is not WoW nostalgia, I only actually played WoW last year. Hell, I would rather play OSRS because at least getting stuff done in the early game is actually fun solo. And honestly, it just seems to bum me out that 11 seemingly doesn't want me in any way. Retail is still a paid product for some bizarre reason and 14's success (as much as I love it) is permanently justifying the infinite price tag, Nasomi relies on the godawful launcher and old files, and now this seemed promising with baked in UI mods only to tell me "you better not play solo or you will die, screw off for even suggesting Trusts." Every single game in this series is easily playable and approachable. Except 11.
no, XI was a horrible soul-crushing grind, and no amount of "situational horizontal progression" will stop META gaming. The community will settle on one or two meta builds, leveling spots, party compositions, job combinations, and will actively shun or exclude anyone who goes against it. I spent 6 years trying to play a Thief main in XI only to be booted from parties for not having emperor hairpin and leaping boots. I don't want to return to that ever again.
Lol.The devs are actively balancing the game. If one strategy or job becomes too powerful it will be nerfed. THats how they would stop META gameing. The community wont know what is meta so they wont know what to exclude. Problem solved. Also being booted for not having emp pin and leaping boots for 6 years sounds like a load of bull. Pro tip: Make your own parties.
@@birdsco8243 Yeah, I remember when they did this with Absolute Virtue in FFXI. It's horrible. You're going to have the devs playing whack-a-mole with 5% differences chasing impossible to achieve balance, and the community perspective on the current META will require compliance or exclusion. This is how MMOs work. Also I made 90% of the parties I was in. Nobody joins the THF party until they made the META leveling enemies weak to piercing (colibris) I don't think you actually played FFXI that early.
@@birdsco8243 When I played Thf, I had those items, but I also played as other jobs and never saw a Thf get booted just cause he didn't have them. As long as they were good at pulling. Having dex/agil gear was a bonus and that meant he stood out among other Thfs. Usually at higher levels that is an issue but those goes for all jobs.
As a THF main, and played on a private server recently, I think the meta for THF has changed since the 2005 era. THF now is more of a bolt spammer with the occasional SA or TA/WS. Emp hairpin and leaping boots don't really help much in that regard. They can be decent DDs early game, but later they mostly stick to fighting mobs that are weak to piercing, which there is quite a few of.
@@Null_Experis You are correct in the fact that devs have to play a whack a mole to balance things that are either overpowered or underpreforming. There is nothing wrong with that. No shit is impossible to find perfect balance. The purpose is to make every job have their own niche and is useful for endgame. That doesn't require perfect balance. METAs take time to figure too. No one is going to know what they are getting into when they start on a server with custom balancing and adjustments. L take and L player.
FFXI post Abyssea is pure crap it literally killed the game and fast and most people playing now are Abyssea babies who either hated the game back in the day because it was too hard or too much of a grind or just joined to burn their character to Endgame! The server is way over-policed. Rules are enforced by GM apes with no reasoning. They can ban any players they feel like without providing any proof. Testers are exploiting bugs without consequences. You get in-game shouted down by staffs for making funny jokes. No Mercs allowed. You may get banned for helping other players by trading them items or gil. You could lose your character without even know why. The list goes on. I just lost my character because I traded my brother's new character Gil to help him out. GM caught me and called me a RMT and banned us both permanently. They are loosing players. The server went from 5000 players in December to now 1.5k. And the number is dropping. I'm not interested in an old school mentality of MMO with a new school mentality of trying to balance everything so everything there aren't areas where things excel or not. You can level multiple jobs for a reason. I'm not interested people coming in imposing their will on a game that already worked in this aspect. Also I understand people's misgivings about multiboxing but it was and is how the game was played by a ton of people and was a key part in how the dynamic of economy and overall gameplay loop developed. I'm going all-in and I'll always resub to retail when it has fun events. I was scared to commit to fishing or crafting on other servers before, but even Nasomi is about to turn 10 years old soon. No more holding back. Thanks for covering this!
considering pop here should be superior to other servers that's smart
Nasomi added Einherjar today!
I’m excited to play again I was on the kujata sever back in 2003-2008 and always dreamed of coming back, looks like it’s time. Wwwwww

Been wanting to come back. But felt overwhelmed at all the new stuff in the game. This would be perfect for me
welcome aboard 🚂
If this came out next year on Xbox with the release of XIV I would instabuy. A lot of people are gravitating to XI especially through the collaboration with XIV. Just need it on console
Loved the journey of levelling to 75. Didn't feel like a grind to me. And had to have half decent gears as you progressed. Then I levelled BST solo which got me into all sorts of new camps. Then SE spoiled it with the BST nerf of 12/12/05. That date is etched. Was so disappointed.
the day that shall live in infamy
What nerf was that, what did they do.
@@brucemckinlay9739i thought you had to zone mobs before they despawned?
Personally, I think FF11 could use a remake, since I had to do a lot of set-up to play the game (presumably because of the game being so old and not all that easily accessible by modern hardware and software).
yeah the setup is easily holding it back from an influx of new players

I feel sad for the retired ffxi players who remember the grind but only the suffering parts. That means they waisted a lot of their personal time in Vana’diel and not much adventuring was memorable for them in between all that sufferable grind. The grind that ironically makes ffxi a fun adventure if you see it through, make some friends, and look past the suffering.
Yeah. It definitely forged stronger bonds through trial by fire, that's for sure.
The grind is what separated the losers from the winners. It was incredible and invigorating to actually earn your place in Vana'diel. Now games are easy and cookie cut experiences. FFXI fell victim to the masses and is now way too easy for me to enjoy. Viva 75.
@@voight-kampff7781 Odyssey v25 is way more challenging than literally anything in 75 era. Way too easy? lol ok.
@@ImmortalDraylo Sorry for your struggle, sucks to suck.
Agreed, I'm cautiously optimistic going forward. It seems they're doing with THF, what a lot of the community felt should've happened a long time ago. Seems like their threat control role will get dusted off too and be important and welcome again. ✌
as a THF main(kinda) in retail this is a big one for me. Really excited to try the job in era, having played RDM and BLM back on original CoP

Made me go back in time all over again 2003 ps2 ERA
seems like a chill game to play considering the slow combat
i wish its playable on mobile
Super chill! This game sits nicely between older awesome FF games and newer MMOs
Sounds like retail would be more your thing. The 4k+ people playing this seem to disagree with your opinion.
@@brucemckinlay9739 Looks like that 4k has dwindled down to 1300 in 5 months. Nostalgia grows old quick and classic FFXI was notorious for being time consuming by virtue of bad QoL implementation. You see this type of consideration in just about every MMO these days.

Fresh start server where its not even open yet, im in
so exciting!
I've never played FFXI before (just XIV). But I kinda have been wanting to try it out. Would Horizon be a good time to start?
There was nothing like the old days in final Fantasy 11.
ty!
players want console 75 era with lots of people and worth while waiting in jeuno while sams get picked as the perferred DD.
Yeah so 2 people
As a player going in solo with no friends in game and introverted it will be harsh like it always has been, before the trust and soloable content.
The difficulty is definitely part of the appeal, I wish you the best out there in your adventures!
Is the partybuffs ashita only? Or do we have it on w4 too??
if you haven't seen this list yet, check it out (yes to your question)
horizonxi.com/addons
I never had that issue. But my mains were in order RDM, BRD, WAR, THF with all 20 original job classes leveled to 50 prior to 80 cap launched
Agree. Ignorance was truly the bliss that allowed people to tolerate that environment back in the early days of FFXI. Plus most of us were rather young with a lot of disposable time.
Totally agree with a lot of what you're saying here. I think this is going to be the best private server to date by a good margin.

There is both an up and down of private servers, cheaters get caught and punished more often, but there is also more issues to exploit, can’t ever hope to fix every single exploit.

Ill stick with retail and support one of my favorite games that probably gave me the patience i have today 😆

would not say the best private server, its ff11 everyone loves ff11.
So if your looking to play ff11 how it was back in era , horizon is not quite it. yes the cap is 75 but enough is changed mixed with the bugs to make it not the ideal server to play this day.
very fair points!

I've been around since day1, including that era, and I love current retail.
Wtf are you even talking about. FFXI was effectively the same game from 2003-2009.
I've played both and like both. I prefer retail overall to HNM camping, but wotg is overall 75 cap at its best.

First time I see someone unironically wanting crypto in their games.
The previous largest private server launch was something like 150 players on day 1. Not saying this is some kind of miracle server, but the numbers are bearing out
cool
Retail is still a paid product for some bizarre reason and 14's success (as much as I love it) is permanently justifying the infinite price tag, Nasomi relies on the godawful launcher and old files, and now this seemed promising with baked in UI mods only to tell me "you better not play solo or you will die, screw off for even suggesting Trusts."
Every single game in this series is easily playable and approachable. Except 11.
no, XI was a horrible soul-crushing grind, and no amount of "situational horizontal progression" will stop META gaming.
Nobody joins the THF party until they made the META leveling enemies weak to piercing (colibris)
I don't think you actually played FFXI that early.

Go play on any of the private servers like Eden ,Nasomi, Wings or any of the other private ones and have fun it's REAL FFXI!
What a ignorant comment. FFXI grew up with it's player base and made massive QoL improvements. If the game would have stayed 75 with no changes it would have never gained new players. We're in 2022+ not 2003 anymore.
@@hmoobgvp it truly is, the worst part is that dummies like this are literally EVERYWHERE you go on anything XI related. They think we are still in Abyssea but I bet this clown doesn't even know we have master levels up to 50 now, which has a longer grind than 1-75. Nostalgia goggles literally bolted on their heads. Yeah, lets go to a private server that can just poof or that doesnt respect your time. I have no idea why they want to go back, I was there, we have so many cool new abilities and spells and gear. To go back to casting low level crap again just doesnt seem appealing at all lol.
Man calling someone's opinion ignorant is pretty ignorant.
@@sukasaroth no its not. Op's opinion is garbage and he can't see beyond his rose colored glasses. SE changed the game for its growing audience and made it convenient for folks of all ages and time availability. You want 75 era and slow xp go play private servers.
If you and op don't see then you're both ignorant.
@@hmoobgvp So your opinion is supreme eh? Weird. Didn't know things worked that way. You're a egotism is i-n-s-a-n-e.
Have fun in that little world of yours though.
Why would anyone play a classic FFXI server? Ah yea can't wait to shout for hours for a party or spend 20mins to run to XP camp. Or have one idiot get aggro before Tiamat/Nidhogg. FFXI was never hard, it was just tedious.
Not many old school mmorpg players left. That said horizon would be perfect if I was 14 again. Lol
You know you could save alot of that time spent shouting by making your own parties instead :)
because standing in town, and having no items in the game worth anything while playing theme park simulator 14 is so much fun...
@@LotusBL Who said anything about XIV? At least try to stay on topic.
@@NewSorpigal1 Can you tho? If you can't find people to play with and just wait. Everyone their own i just very much prefer current XI to "classic" XI.
Shame on horizonxi you can get banned for no reason other then a d/c or battery dieing if you are fishing so take care out there,
Horizon is F2P if the oldschool experience is your jam
Well, I don't regret it. I'm going to Eden.
2,500 players
@@ThePresentation010 @ weekend Yes. on peak hours. On another other days, its 1k+. and it's dropping day by days. This is the result of the poorly management team with the "my server my rules" attitude.
@tintin6759 this your first or only non retail server? 1k is alot
@@ThePresentation010 I have played on other non retail servers. HorizonXI attracted me due to their large population at the rollout. Horizon attracted players like me from other non-retails as well. But after a while, these players starting to realized how crappy HorizonXI and moved back to other old server.
@@tintin6759 It's ridiculous how people from other private servers try to destroy other servers out of pure envy, Horizon has 2616 players online TODAY!
Nah not interested in these job changes. The info on how to properly level blm and level it extremely quickly and *differently* from standard parties is out there now. and BLM dominance is good and fun. It's not like other strategies werent viable. Nerfing RDM's MP economy and tanking ability? It was fun and how the game was played. Buffing WAR and MNK defensive abilities? Ironic they're nerfing RDM's tank potential with how well any well geared DD could already tank nearly anything in the game. (Which was also fun and good.) Nonsensical.
I'm not interested in an old school mentality of MMO with a new school mentality of trying to balance everything so everything there aren't areas where things excel or not. You can level multiple jobs for a reason. It's not that the balance decisions in XI are sacred or anything but the game fell into a very satisfying meta if you accepted and adapted to it and I already have my opinions on how XI plays based on how it actually played. I'm not interested people coming in imposing their will on a game that already worked in this aspect.
Also I understand people's misgivings about multiboxing but it was and is how the game was played by a ton of people and was a key part in how the dynamic of economy and overall gameplay loop developed. Private servers forbidding it in its entirety is fanfic.
"respect peoples gender" yeah nahhh I'm good.
snowflake alert
Really pulling at my heartstrings with that intro...
which version of the games do i need steam or the official site
for the official server? Either. For the community run server that this video is based on? horizonxi.com, no purchase needed
nope screw you guys im base ffxi to the DEATH! ps2 style! i dont use any addons at anytime no matter what!
Soloing with bst and 𝓚𝓻𝓪𝓴𝓮𝓷 Club party!!
I do wonder if BST ends up being the play
