@Jeremiah Welch Hey Jerry- you've posted this same comment 100 times. You've gotten in one argument with a bunch of name calling. Hello again, so I was just reading about how this method of disposal is kind of useless in the winter because of the cold conditions not being able to break down the waste efficiently. I had an open hole, about 2ft deep. After dumping the waste in there, I would cover the poop with a layer of grass clippings to prevent the flies, no lid like this gentleman’s idea. None of my 7 dogs, diggers or not, wanted to get anywhere close to that hole lol
As I study the options, as our 75 lb lab is a factory, every where you read says, "Don't just bury dog poop as the bacterial run-off is horrendous. Easy idea but not helping the waterway behind your home.
If the poop hole was within a few feet of the water I could be causing some contamination. However 30 feet of soil is more that enough to purify any bacteria burried below grade.
It's not fecal bacteria that is the problem, it is the excess "nutrients" such as Nitrogen and Phosphorous compounds. Runoff can cause eutrophication of lakes and ponds. The nutrients will be reduced by bacteria that lives in soil better if the poop is, well, if it is IN the soil as opposed to on top of it. More common causes of nutrient rich runoff are plant fertilizer, whether from coated grass seed, miracle grow, or farms, as well as wastewater from septic leach fields and treatment plants. If it is a concern, one could always add beneficial bacteria (septic treatment) to the hole.
We wanted a large family, in face my husbands exact words when people asked us how many kids we were going to have... he said a "litter" lol... though it was not God's plan for us, and very blessed to have our one son. We feel our hearts with the "litter" my husband spoke of with fur babies. We have a box pit, mini dachshund, dachshund mix, and new boxer pit mix puppy that is my 7 1/2 year old son's first dog. they have their own space, and we were using bags, but it is sooo wasteful with that many pups. we will end up with 2 large dogs, and 2 small. I rotate poop holes once a year, and use the doggie doodley digestive septic tank mix with water... would you think that would work for us?
I have been digging these holes for the lives of 4 dogs. That's 48 human years. Some holes last 1 1/2 years, some only lasted 6 months. Too much waste and you have to dig more holes more often. The best part is you dig them 1' from the last one and work your way around the garage. Best you can do is dig a couple and decide if the hole is worth it for you. Blair
What is the purpose of digging poop whole if I am paying for garbage removal. Plz some body plz tell me why this is logical and not a waste of my time - money -energy???
No poop in a bag stinking up the garage, the hole is at the pooping location, and I'm recycling. Not much money is involved and it does take energy, but boy is it handy.

@@Julie-z6q Yup, although I do flood the hole w/water to compact the waste down and get another month before I dig a new hole. And yes, when can I add some drain cleaning enzymes in and flood w/ water.
@@MrHardware1 Thank you for replying. I've been using "compostable bags" but just found out that they're not compostable in landfills because the conditions aren't right for decomposition, so back to the drawing board! This is what I'm going to end up doing, but I wanted to make sure it's not harming anything. Thanks again : )
Hello again, so I was just reading about how this method of disposal is kind of useless in the winter because of the cold conditions not being able to break down the waste efficiently. Do you use another method during winter, or do you live in a warmer climate or do you just carry on with this regardless???? Thanks : )
@@Julie-z6q I think you’re overthinking it. Fill a hole w/dog poop, once it’s full, add dirt on top, add the sod from the next hole being dug, tamp it flush, use the next hole. I don’t care when it breaks down, I know it eventually will. I’ve gone around my garage, hole next hole through 3 dogs, over 20 years and you’ll never tell that I ever did it.
heavy doody glue.
Thats a good idea, but.... what about any smell and flies?
In 15 years, I have yet to encounter either. The only time there is a smell is when I fill the hole with water to help break down the waste. Only time. Blair
@@ogtimmy2355 When it gets half full or I happen to be out in the yard with the hose, no rules except the more the better. The enzyme is the same, I keep it in the garage near the hole so I use it about 3 times a year.
Next to water like that he could have also built a catapult.
Goodness
Best video!!!!!
Thank you, Blair and Tim
The question is how to get them to poop there
I prefer a 'floral' shovel. We often call them a womans' shovel. Easy to use, Blair
pooper scooper
Could you make it bigger? Say for two 100lb dogs?
Sure, if the soil is stable enough and your post-hole digger has long enough handles. And you are young enough to dig it. lol
Great thank you!
Your "Puppy Poop Hole" is exquisite and WAY less pricey than 'Doggie Doolie's' poop compost system ($60-70$).
I’m making one of these next weekend. Then I’m gonna try to train my dog to nudoe into the hole.
Be careful with your Hosta! Ouch!
Better believe my dogs would dig that hole right up
I had an open hole, about 2ft deep. After dumping the waste in there, I would cover the poop with a layer of grass clippings to prevent the flies, no lid like this gentleman’s idea. None of my 7 dogs, diggers or not, wanted to get anywhere close to that hole lol
Lol my dogs’ poop is too big to fit in that little hole
nice channel
Thank yoy mr hardwear i
Awesome
Zsa Zsa Umbra For wastewater issues just at an old or cheap beer to help, just like a septic tank.
Tallulah TwoSocks How does that work? and I don't mean the tab top lol. Like, how does that help the nitrification cycle?
It introduces yeast. It’s not proven but it seemed to help my septic tank. So I was just thinking it was worth a try in this application.

I just throw my dog shit over the fence into my neighbor's yard. Problem takes care of itself as this method requires zero labor from me. 😉👍
Did it ever occur to you that your neighbor just throws it back over the fence?
Like you have a yard, your user name is "Scrotum Monster". Nice try, kid. Thanks for trolling.
That shit is just too funny
Blair
Osha approved! Lol
Ewww. Dog waste makes humans sick, I would not put it in the ground, thats how you get poison water
You have some serious issues.
Just throw the crap in the trash can! Way too much work.....plus,guessin has a powerful stank!
This is a horrible idea.
