Greetings from London. I was eagerly waiting for this particular video since the day I subscribed to your channel. I'm a huge fan of bengali cuisine. I'm originally from A&N Islands that has quite a big bengali population. I got too many childhood memories attached to durga puja and bengali cuisine in general. thank you so much for creating this channel. I feel closer to home because of you. ❤️
Loving the recipes without onion and gralic..everywhere i search for recipes onion and garlic is used compulsarily. Such happiness to see these recipes.😊

Every receipie seems to be infused with taste, knowledge and lots of experience regarding Bengali cuisine which is undoubtedly the most versatile and yummy cuisine ever. I am running out of words to compliment you guys. 😁
I am from odisha and a regular viewer... I wait for every Friday for your videos... I have to say you guys are genius... You made classical authentic indian bangali food so....... I am running out of words.. you guys are unbelievable.... Hats off
AMAZING... actually aapki jitni tareef karu kum hai. I am writing this comment even before you start cooking. Your devotion to cooking is inspiring... God bless you and your team...
I have attempted a couple of the items from the channel and they have come out well! Thanks for these easy, step by step videos! Also, I must say this, one of the reasons why I love the videos on this channel is the consistently high quality of the videos. The quality of the food and recipes aside, the well planned videos, with the perfect match of background scores and ambient noises - just an audio-visual treat before the gastronomic one! Thank you, so much!
My partner and I are in a middle of a fight and I decide to clean the study table. There is only standing fan in our house. And he took that with himself in the living room. I haven't eaten anything since morning. It's 6.30 pm now. It's freaking hot. And in the middle of the cleaning session I decide to watch Bong Eats. Even a meditation video cannot make me calm but Bong Eats does that!
Finally I could make labra! I didn't have all the vegetables used here, also couldn't follow the measurements, neither could I use coconut due to allergy, but I followed rest of the cooking process and the output was awesome, exactly how I desired it to be! My family also liked it very much. Thank you very much for this recipe as labra has always been in my favorite list but could never make it perfectly.
Major homesickness happening here....this is beyond comfort food....its a chapter from my childhood.....you guys are killing it!!!! with your choice of recipes...Keep up the great work!!! 😊
Banana stem is such an underrated vegetable. All that fibre is so good for your body.So apart from a couple of south Indian states W.B is probably one of the few Indian states that uses banana stem.Labra seems very similar to aviyal and undhiyo. All are one pot dishes, using a medley of veggies and a fair amount of coconut. Your videos are very useful for us non-bongs who like your cuisine but are unable to find good vegetarian options even in bong restaurants. Thanks for all your hard work and quality content. Good luck.
s Keshav yep banana stem is quite common in bengali cuisine - apart from labra, there are dishes where “thor” by itself is the central element. Same with banana blossoms, and of course unripe bananas as well.
And here I am. Having dinner with boiled rice and chicken lol. I miss my mom and all her cookings. This used to be what she would cook during "ekadoshi broto". Good times. Love from Canada!
My mom taught me how to take those fibers out of the banana plant stem ... She used to do exactly the same thing using the traditional vegetable cutter, you know where you can sit and cut the vegetables (called Paniki in Odisha/ Boti in Bengal - Courtesy of Wikipedia). One of the reason I love your videos is that it take me back to the old days... So, Thank you for making such wonderful videos..!!
Just love your videos guys.. I've commented in other videos too but, couldn't stop from praising all over again. The way u show- step by step with explanations written down.. No vocals..Such graceful chopping and presenting.. Traditional Bengali recipes.. Just love it. It makes cooking our traditional dishes much easier. Also, just watching your videos is also amazing.. This is pure art :)
Its such a divine experience. Seeing you cutting vegetables, the sound of cutting vegetables and that background music. Amazing mesmerising and what to say.

The nutritional quotient in labra is unbeatable. Fresh seasonal vegetables, with minimum masala, the magic of panch phoron and bhaja moshla. I hear my tummy rumble.
Its trully amazing to see how meticulously you prepare these dishes. Many people might ignore the comments that you give and just focus on watching you cook, but those small text actually shows the deep knowledge you have. E.g - KEEP POTATOES IN WATER TO STOP THEM FROM TURNING BLACK. Thats experience speaking ...
This is my most favourite video of this channel,I had made this Labra in pahela baisakh 2020,except I skipped ghee and coconut. Also Its so relaxing to watch

Prepared labra with bhoger khichuri on the auspicious occasion of Mahashtami. Added mulo (as it was available in fridge) , removed cabbage ( not in stock)... excellent taste... super excellent instructions leading to a no-fail recipe.. keep inspiring us guys.. you’re really wonderful.
So, we bongs have Thor way before Avengers franchise came 😛😂 Jokes apart. I fell in laab💙 with this labra 💜 wonderful, Bong eats. Have this labra with Bhuna Khichuri and get the power like Avengers cause this has the power of Mother/grandma's love ,😁😅
Best labra cooking demonstration on the planet.. this video is a documentation of what " bengali widow cuisine" was. Using past tense as I don't think so any present day house hold prepares any vegetarian bengali widow cuisine items .. Bengalis are now surviving on chicken , tomato ketchup and rice or roiti ..

For my family its aloo, kumro, begun, Thor, some daata, badha kopi, jhinge, potol, we don't put narkel And mulo also bcz I hate mulo... But I'll try with narkel... It looks delicious 😍😋
Being hardcore ghoti we had no concept of labra at lakkhi pujo which again took place as dipanwita lakkhi pujo during diwali. Menu was designed & cooked by my thakuma & ably helped by ma, kakima & domestic help. Bhaja mug daler Khichuri, aloo phulkopir makha makha tarkari, phulko luchi, gobindbhog chaler payesh, tomato amsatta chutney aar panch rokom bhaja. Served in svetpathorer thala for lakkhidevi & kalopathorer thala for narayan. After bhog utsarga, we kids(many of us-big family) line on dalan with kalapata. Thank you bong eats for taking me down my memory lane & those were fantastic days. So overwhelmed by childhood missed telling you that the labra has come out lip smacking.little time consuming but i'll reduce quantity of veggies. Hope that will help. Pretty unique & one such side dish is enough for lunch.
I am so glad I chanced upon your you tube channel.... I missed learning how to cook the typical Bengali fair from my grandmother and used to really miss the traditional meals prepared by her .... now watching your videos I can learn the ranna!!
Gorgeous video as usual. I passed out (in a good way) when you added the grated coconut. 😍I will definitely make this with the veggies in my garden. (We have seem, pumpkin, begun) Thank you for all your videos.

The tastes are very different actually, west bengali food tends to be on sweet rather than savoury side (note the 56g of sugar used here). And this is not a daily item. I am a bong in chennai. They taste very different n i like both in their own ways
it's more similar in spirit (not in taste) to avial from Kerala actually. Again, a mixed vegetable medley with a lot of root vegetables usually had on festive occasions (onam). Of course, the flavours are quite different.
I have made both poriyal and this recipe at home almost on any occassions. To be honest both the recipes are very tasty but, are very different from eachother.
Families tend to have a unique set of vegetables for labra. For example, in our family we don't put radish (mulo). Comment with the set of vegetables that are used in your family's labra recipe.
e.g. our labra has the following vegetables:
- alu (potato)
- mishti alu (sweet potato)
- gathi kochu (taro corm)
- begun (brinjal)
- kachkola (unripened banana)
- thor (banana stem)
- phulkopi (cauliflower)
- badhakopi (cabbage)
- sheem (flat beans)
- borboti (yard-long beans)
kumro (ripe pumpkin)

U r right except for the fact that jains don't eat ginger as well, neither potato nor kochu. Probably most of them don't even consume eggplant.
@@adityashaw5069 then what do they eat?
Khichdi aar labra .....what a combination.....love it always ! Bong eat rocks !
A fantastic recipe and it's incredibly relaxing to watch you preparing all those wonderful vegetables 😀👍
Very nice 👌👌
Just the recipe one needs during Pujo! ♥️
You guys are blessing in disguise!
I am just drooling over this labda and waiting for the evening lokkhi pujo prosad 😊
Shubho Sharodiya !
Patience and perseverence is the secret to a tasty labra. 😀
Fatafati hoyeche ! 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼❤
Wow, we eat this khichuri, labra, payesh on ashtami.. Khub bhalo hyeche.. Jibhe jolneshe galo..
Wow loved it👌👌 awesum 😊👍
Eternal Bengali cuisine!!! Bhoger khichuri and Labra.... They are always mouth-watering!!! 😍😍😍😍
When you wanna eat every vegetable in the world.....LABRA😘😙😁😁
Just awesome....
I love the ingredients chart you did after adding beans. Please continue it.

5:01 Teacher to bestfriends in class 😂😂
Great preparation Bong Eats ❤
Labra is one of the tarkaris I die for. The smell and the taste...it's just ummmmm..... Nd this video is mind blowing..... 🙏
This was the best I've ever seen . This is classic old time recipe. Great.
For my family its aloo, kumro, begun, Thor, some daata, badha kopi, jhinge, potol, we don't put narkel And mulo also bcz I hate mulo...
But I'll try with narkel... It looks delicious 😍😋
I love bengali dish. My all time favourite.
This looks magnificent. I can't find some of the veggies here, but I will try it with what I can get locally.
Not sure which part of the world you are in, but you will be able to find most things in Indian, Asian and Mexican stores combined :-)
1:26 Avengers fan will like this :P
Jokes apart... Bong eats just alada level. No one can match them.
Affirmative
Thor 😂😂
We assamese people also eat banana stem
We don't call it thor ..
We call it BHARAALI
🤣🤣
I am so glad I chanced upon your you tube channel.... I missed learning how to cook the typical Bengali fair from my grandmother and used to really miss the traditional meals prepared by her .... now watching your videos I can learn the ranna!!
Gorgeous video as usual. I passed out (in a good way) when you added the grated coconut. 😍I will definitely make this with the veggies in my garden. (We have seem, pumpkin, begun) Thank you for all your videos.
Subho Dipaboli 🙏..ami aj Labra prothom try korlam..thik jevabe video te ache serom korei korechi....osadharon hoyeche khete ...dekhteo khib sundor hoyeche ...barir sobai khey khub khusi ..thank you very much 😍😍🤗🤗
It is similar to a dish called "poriyal" in tamil nadu, we have it on a daily basis with seasonal vegetables
@Anasuya Sarkar true that. I guess a closer relation to Labra would be Undhiyu.
At least poriyal has no sugar. I mean I cant eat my main course sweet. 🤪
Must say one thing....way of explanation is mind blowing....every steps are so well...explained....
