So wonderful to have FRA at this AC and going forward. Really going to be great competitors and also laying the perfect ground work for the future. Fantastic.
Been waiting to see this boat fly & for the first outing, it looks AWESOME. GREAT JOB FRANCE👍 Being a kiwi, i can't wait until you mix it up with the other boat's abit. COME ON ETNZ & TAIHORO.🤜👊🤛
Finalement!! Sleek and beautiful looking boat! Skimming the water surface at speed; very low ride height, the lowest I've seen. Whoever said the NZ design is optimized for the end-plate effect wasn't kidding and right on the money. Great first sail!
@@NeuralEngin33r not true. Fastest is close to the water with the foil arm canted the maximum up for maximum righting moment and maximum sail thrust. cheers
It's a double edged sword. If the challenger ends up being a non-french team, then they know how the defender's boat sails and have already beaten their boat once.
I predict that OE will go deep into the competition and take some highly-funded scalps in the process. They seem to be a smaller, tight team with fewer distractions & a strong focus.
that and they bought the complete designs of one of the best backed teams ETNZ so their boat is a carbon copy of ETNZ's. idk one of those might be a bigger deal than the others
@@JustInvertedFpv Do you think they read the instructions 1stly? or like me and just nod to the wife and say yea yea Na Na... I know how this goes together
Looks like the kiwis arrived early haha. But seriously, fantastic to see team france OE looking capable and competitive on day one. Exciting times ahead!
Sails very close to the water. The more I see Britannia, she seems to be the odd one out. I just don’t understand the logic of her design. I think the British will end up last.
they also sail close to the water in terms of their bustle. it just looks higher because their bustle is deeper, as long as they are getting end plating the higher the boat is the less drag you have from wetted surface area on the foil arms so if anything it's better
@@rydenkaye9735 I didn’t see it like that. I thought there was more of a gap between bustle and water surface on Britannia, but I could be wrong. Britannia does seem to be as fast as AM, but I still think Britannia has too much windage. As a Brit, I hope I am wrong, but I am a natural pessimist!
@@malin5468 According to the recon, _Britannia_ was the fastest before OE went into the water. Whatever we think of her looks or the way she flies, like it or not, the Brits had a specific design premise that was tested with their LEQ12. In all that time with the prototype, they must have discovered something advantageous to adapt their AC75 thereto. What more can be said? Were they wrong? I seriously doubt it. Will she win? Who knows, but to come in the very last place when she's presumably at the top right now would be a shocking turn of events, especially for a Challenger of Record.
@@jamesaron1967Yes, I also read that Britannia was said to be fastest. But I am dubious that these estimates from recon are accurate. My prediction is based on no expertise, but simply a speculation. Yes, of course we should assume that the Brits have some rationale behind their design choices, although their design for the last AC was not fast. As we all know so many factors will affect the winning design. Minimum take off speed, maneuverability, etc. The Brits have a history of developing original ideas that don’t work too well in practice. As a Brit, I hope that this is not one of them.
@@arlynculwick it's probably to subjective for recon to get any real comparison which is why we have yacht races. I think recon are good at keeping their own opinions to them selves. All good fun though.

This boat is going to win a few races I'm picking, beautiful 🤙
More stable than the other boats on their first day, with the exception of Luna Rossa.
Well done to the Team @ O•E out on the water sheets up flying the boat for the first time.🇲🇫💪🇲🇫

They can choose the ride height. It is faster with more foil mast out of the water. They are just being careful and flying it low.

Wow,…first time under sail and looks as solid as anyone…a definite threat.
As an italian and LRPP supporter I would say NEVER EVER underestimate french sailors. The cousins are tough on this job.
A silent assassin upon the waters, not revealing much yet, but very very worthy of AC first time competitor
The Kiwis test boat....

Nice low flight first day...
Low over water this boat looking slik and nice. ..
That last tack was pretty smooth
As low on the water as Alinghi except that its bow does not tip and get wet as Alinghi's tend to.
Excellent video! It's going to be exciting in the next 3 ...or 4 months.
Well done...
Not bad for first time sailing. The French look like the potential threat they are going to be already.
Good to see the Alpine sponsorship for a French team
The only known is the unknown.. At any time, anything can happen and with these boats surprises will surface..
Wow...
They flying low
Prettiest boat for sure.
All the best from New Zealand 🙏🏾💪🏾🇳🇿

No, the French made the boat. They purchased the design from New Zealand.

What if, two kiwi inspired boats in AC , Technology race after all.
The Kiwi test boat, without the Kiwis to make it 110%.

About 100x more beautiful than the kiwi boat.
Best livery if the lot - looks fast at the dock, but even better just above the water. Are we in for a one design final?
