And years later you are still making people happy with this ;) Perfect solution mate, just installed it this way. Used some extra tiewraps to keep it even more sturdy in place. What a great upgrade from the G29 shifter :)
This worked great! I used zip ties under the unit to the frame of the seat and I used the velcro strap across the top of the shifter (where the sticker and writing is) and around the seat arm for a little more stability. Thanks so much for posting this hack it saved me a huge headache
Hi ! I just wanna know what the black strap you used to connect the bar on the playseat with the bar on the shifter together with is. Does the strap thing come with the playseat and is that the only thing you need for the shifter to hold on to the playseat ? Amazing concept by the way :)
@@apecx1359 No problem! The shifter's own clamp (tight against the seat's strap) is also very important in securing it in place. Also, see my note regarding replacing the velcro strap with a strong cable tie.
Got TH8A today and will buy playseat challenge and T300 in upcoming months. Currently using DFGT and T3PA -PROs. Could do a video on mounting T3PA's GT-style with playseat challenge? Playseat challenge is a only option for me but I would not like to go back to F1 position :(
There is no mounting per se. You just place the T3PA-PROs on the pedal stand. Having said that, getting a thin wood board (at least the size of the base of the pedals) will work very well towards stabilizing the whole thing.
Thank you. Regarding the pedal holder, mine can be separated easily from the chair... Just lift and rotate the piece that holds them together (which is permanently fixed to the chair). In fact, it's the same way you did when you mounted the chair the first time, I think.
Hi. Do you think it worth the money this "chair" to play with G29? I am considering to buy a wheel stand...and i have three options: - wheelstand pro - gt omega wheel stand (and more later buy the rear frame and a backet) - playseat challenge The material of the chair is good? i handle with 80kg well? :) Or is it good and confortable for who mesures 1.90m, or the wheel is going to be very near me? By the way, are you portuguese?
I understand that this may look like an overpriced chair, but it's a unique solution that, in my opinion, works really well. Having had multiple stands myself, this provides a much better experience than any of them - you really get that "cockpit" feeling and with the added bonus of being very comfortable and not having a vertical bar between the legs (which is a must for heel and toe downshifting). The fabric of the chair is nice and very resistant; no worries there. It handles, at least, 85Kg really well. ;) In fact, the whole stability of this chair is based on one's weight, so the more weight, the more stable the whole thing is. I'm only 1.75m myself, but the chair is adjustable on the side straps and also at the base, where the wheel fits (it can be moved a bit further away). I can't really say how it will work for 1.90m though... E sim, sou português. Envia-me uma mensagem caso pretendas mais informação.
Good video. Can you tell me if this solution works good in a long run? I'm considering this chair since it's quite mobile but I want to be sure T3PA Pro pedals mounted GT style like in your video won't wobble or move even if placed without anything behind them. Also i want to know if shifter won't move after longer more intense. Is there any room for handbreak on this rig?
I think it does work. In my case, it's been half a year since I have this setup and I maintain everything I wrote in the description and haven't changed a thing. From time to time, I'll need to readjust the shifter in place - mainly because when the chair is folded, the strap gets floppy, so the shifter (being heavy) will naturally slide a bit out of place. I have found that a bigger, stronger cable tie will do the trick and nowadays I don't even have to deal with that. About the T3PA Pro pedals, mine won't go anywhere and there's no need to have anything behind them. I will say, though, that having something at the base of the pedals will help with its stability - something like a piece of plywood, that will sit on the Playseat's pedal "structure" and create a flat base for the pedals. Also, bear in mind that I don't fold the pedals with the seat - they're simply too heavy for that. What I do is separate the pedal base from the chair and store it separately. Regarding a handbrake, I think that you'll need something else for that... Maybe some steel plates attached to the structure or one of those Garmin RAM mounting kits. In short, I don't see how you'll be able to do it without any extra accessory.
Could you please explain or give me some pictures where and why should I place the plywood? And also I saw your post in PCars forum, "...the contact surface between the Playseat's pedal structure and the base of the T3PA-Pros (GT style) is very small. Because of this, I'll be getting some kind of plate between them (probably a wood board) so as to create a proper contact surface..." so if the T3PA Pro is in GT mode, it relies only on the four contact points (those tiny feet?) which are located in the corners and the plywood will be placed in the middle/between the contact points to increase the friction and prevent it to wobbles, am I correct?
If you look at the Playseat Challenge pedal base, it's basically just two parallel bars, correct? Now, imagine placing a board on top of that so as to create an even surface, instead of just the bars. This is basically what the plate/board does. That way, you're now placing the pedals on top of an even area (like if it was a floor). This will give much better support for the T3PA Pro's. Hope I was clear.
Hey mate, would you say that Playseat challenge works well with Thrustmaster RS300 and T3PA pedals? I'm 5ft11 and around 13 stone, so pretty regular guy. Is it sturdy enough?
Hey, i dont know if you are still answering comments but can you please make a video or perhaps tell how you mounted the steering wheel? Are you using the screws that came with it or just clamped it in place
The platform on the Challenge is pre drilled for the T300 screws, so I used those. There's even two options for screwing it, for different arm reaches.
Hi question. My shifter has disconnect problems when I move quickly up and down the chair. Think it might be a static electricity problem. Did you ever have this issue?
Hi. Never had anything like that happen to me. I actually have all the metal parts of the chair in contact with the shifter covered with black electrical tape (but the original purpose of this was only to avoid damaging the chair). Maybe that would help in you case as well?
G.O.A.T! I've been looking for mounts for the TH8A for a day and a half and this is the absolute best solution! Thank You!

Very good! Thanks a lot, this is working exceptionally well!
Thanks. Glad it's working for you, too.
You are the man!
Good idea, dude ! 👍🏻👍🏻
The seat arrives on friday and ill buy pedals and shifter in november, then my little simrig is complete
Thanks, works great!
I am currently looking for a smart idea for a Playseat Challenge + Fanatec Clubshifter SQ. Any proposal guys?

Hey!
iirc, those black straps come with the Playseat Challenge; they throw in some of those, to help with cable management.
Thank you ! Suprised you answered after 5 years 😄 But was that the only thing I need for it to hold?

Oh I see :) Thanks for the help. Helped me alot and made me avoid buying clamps on ebay 👍
Does the clamp come with the shifter? and do you need to put the clamp through the velcro or mount it to the metal?
did the same, works really nice.
can you rotate the shift?
yes, it's 360 degrees
great! thank u for ur help

Pretty sure it will handle the T3PA's just fine.
Also, once you sit on it, the whole thing's surprisingly sturdy.
Sorry for the necro & off-topic post, but what camera did you film this with? The image quality is amazing!

How did you fix the pedal board?
Antonio Matera It's not fixed, simply laid on. I never felt the need to fixate it.
Really? Not even the velcro supplied with the playseat?
Antonio Matera No, as it's not long enough to wrap these pedals. But something like that velcro strap would work nicely (in a bigger size).
Good to know. Thanks man
There is a much better way to mount it takes a little diy and costs £20 but once done it’s absolutely solid.
Just ordered this shifter. Does the metal part on top where you select the gears twist around like yours is to mount it sideways?
Yes. You loosen the four screws at the top of the plate and that allows you to rotate it. Tighten them back when you reach the position you want.
@jpfigueiredo legend. Thanks again for the vid, had to order the shifter for GT7 on psvr2 in a few weeks. Can't wait
Does this also work with the logitech shifter?
