Thank you so much to the entire cast and crew of Les Mis (and especially our fabulous orchestra in this video!).
Sorry I've been MIA for the last 2 months! Here's a mini life update/ explanation: After finishing Les Mis, I've been hopping on planes, sorting out my future, starting my new job, rehearsals for Pinocchio (come see the show, here's a link: www.asbwaterfr...) and now my hayfever has gotten really bad and I can't sing! Until that goes away, here's an old lil vid!

The one thing that I remember so well from my college Music Appreciation class so many years ago is that the orchestra mimics the voice. So many instruments required to be equivalent to the voice. The video shows how wonderfully they complement each other. Magnificent Emily. May I also say that Les Misérables, what I consider to be the greatest literary work of fiction ever, is still as relevant today as it was when it was published in 1862. The prescient preface written by the author, Victor Hugo:
"So long as there shall exist, by virtue of law and custom, decrees of damnation pronounced by society, artificially creating hells amid the civilization of earth, and adding the element of human fate to divine destiny; so long as the three great problems of the century-the degradation of man through pauperism, the corruption of woman through hunger, the crippling of children through lack of light-are unsolved; so long as social asphyxia is possible in any part of the world;-in other words, and with a still wider significance, so long as ignorance and poverty exist on earth, books of the nature of Les Misérables cannot fail to be of use."
